Here is a question for you John… as soon as contact is made with a subject, as in this video, the body worn cameras automatically become evidence. So by the officers turning them off, muting them or the department altering them in anyway would be considered tampering with evidence?

As a black man, I have had many of these kinds of encounters with police and I have viewed countless of these kinds of videos. This one, though, not only enraged me, but it broke my heart! This poor woman was awakened from her sleep in the middle of the night by armed, poorly trained, incompetent fools and basically kidnapped and lied on! There was ABSOLUTELY no reason for this madness!! You could hear the righteous outrage and disbelief in this innocent victim's voice as she is abused by these government thugs for no reason. No one deserves to be treated this way, yet it is common in America. The good news, though, is that she wasn't murdered, which could easily have been the case. How much longer do we accept this pathetic form of policing? They're badasses until they're needed to breach a school building to stop the massacre of children. Warriors my ass!!

They got under $1M split 30 ways, so people who had lost custody of their children got the max $70K, others who had either lost their house due to inability to make mortgage repayments from jail, were divorced, or lost their job due to the false conviction, got down to $20K. Seems like the compensation didn't even cover the actual damage, and no punitive damages to be seen. You get a much better payout when the cop is supported by his department in his illegal activities.

This is absolutely appalling that the police can enter a domicile with no cause and carry a person off to jail in restraints and not only was she violated so was her dog!!!! I’m so ashamed of our justice system
The female officer could have calmly told her that she'd help her get pants and she could change in bathroom (once cleared) while her colleagues verified there was no injured child in the area. She also could have informed the woman that she'd make sure no harm would come to her pet dog. Then they could have left stating thank goodness the caller was mistaken but if she hears anything suspicious she could call them. It would have been over in 5-10 minutes without a negative incident.

Cops are allowed to lie to suspects. Lying on a signed police report is perjury. However since cops never get prosecuted, even when lying in court, they effectively have carte blanche to lie all the time.

They didn't even give her proper medical treatment. She should of been taken to the Hospital. As a past First Responder, it is not our job to make the decision that she is not sick enough, that is for the Doctors at the Hospital. Also, given she passed out twice, her age, the way she was treated, being put into a straightjacket and how upset she was, the FR should of transported to hospital. I hope she sues the for a couple million at least. It is the only way to make changes in Law Enforcement.

I was asleep in a hotel room when someone knocked on my door. I immediately called the front desk who handled it. Never open your door if you're a women traveling alone.

TBH, these cops are only feeling good about themselves based on restraining her (while half naked) and having the last laugh, they probably like the fact that this story got some traction in the media. Finally, with qualified immunity, all their actions can be excused away and they don't lose a minute of sleep. The county will lose a stack of money but nobody on any side cares. The only outcome here is the plaintiff can now afford a better hotel room next time.

There was a case in VA where the cops had the right house, but the father of the perp was sitting near the front door with a gigantic fucking revolver right next to him, and when the cops kicked the door in he shot the cop, and the cop shot him. A false police report should be 5 years in prison, unable to hold any law enforcement of government position indefinitely, a 10k dollar punitive fine from your bank account to the defendant, a public apology, and immediate dismissal of all charges and cases you've ever worked on and the fees from those cases charged to your own bank account.
False info on reports should lead to write-ups. Then depending on what else was done a loss of title demotion. Next suspended without pay. Next termination.

This was horrible to watch. The poor woman. How in the world could that ever, EVER be interpreted as acceptable behaviour from police officers?! There was not an ounce of professionalism, de-escalation, or care for a citizen noticeable in this encounter. And the poor dog. Just imagine your pet waking up to strangers knocking at 3.30am. Strangers who invade your space and threaten your family. The poor animal barked its heart out, trying to protect her. And after all that stress and agitation it was first left alone in a room, then grabbed by someone and landed in a shelter. Never understanding what was happening. Just ripped from its family after witnessing an assault by a group of armed monsters. That is fkn heartbreaking.
