Very nice upgrade, I've had my eye on one for my boat. I have the same old big one like you had... so true when maneuvering in close quarters especially with a wind, you need to be quick and the knob and the small diameter is the way to go... !! Plus... Looks awesome !!!

Have had that wheel on the last three boats I’ve owned. Replaced an older wheel like that on, on a Grady White. All the difference in the world. The knob is the best part. Boats looking better and better, Capt.

Fitted an almost identical wheel to my boat today. Looking forward to easier docking. My last boat had this. The best part is that you can quickly spin the wheel lock to lock with your left hand while using the throttle with your right. Voila!

Hilarious intro!Nice upgrade!I use the steering nob constantly on my boat fishing in and out of bridge pilings.It is a necessity for fast maneuvering.You will enjoy it when navigating around docks.Looks nice on your boat!

That is the same steering wheel that came on my boat. You will love it. The knob is a must on any boat, it makes such a bit difference.

Also my old steering same as you its hard to control im using finger for sharp turn.last week i change to rubber steering but to small good maneuver but its hard to turn lol..you steering wheel is good maneuver.nice wheel

You're right I have autopilot but I did this most of it for when I'm in the dock trying to dock the boat and a looks amazing.

I have the same boat in a 23’ here in south Florida, not many around here, absolutely love it. Wanna change the wheel to that one. How did you pull off the original Parker wheel?
You need to get a pulley a steering wheel pulley but in my case I put some WD-40 and play with it it until I got it out . And you have an awesome boat to Captain👍🤙🏝🏖

@@OutOnTheReef finally got the wheel off leaving wd40 overnight as you suggested. Did you use any marine grease on the shaft before installing the new one cap?
@@p3teytran awesome buddy and I don't remember if I put any grease on it but next time using a pulley would really get it out of there with no problems and you did the right thing by putting some WD-40 overnight that really loosen it up.

Great vid. Changing my wheel as well. Could you share thoughts on the boats maneuverability in tight spaces after install. Pilothouses are great but only those of us that have them know too well how wind plays a huge role while docking. Im hoping my new 13.5" wheel we be a noticeable difference.

nice video, thanks! A suicide knob is a must have, I need to install one on my boat also....although yours seems very inexpensive. what material is it ? S.S. would seem to be much more expensive, and perhaps more suitable on a boat with in an open helm area with Salt spray.

Thanks Cpt. I just ordered a steering wheel today for my 1986 Grady White and I can't wait to put in on and try it out next year. I live in Michigan and my boat is stored for the winter I love you video. I have replaced my anchor with the same one you have also. I will say you might want to look at Sea-Dek Marine Products for your floor when you walk on it we did our Grady White and love it very comfortable and easy to do your self.

Out On The Reef yes I used a llave francesa to get out the nut, and had to buy a pulley puller for $19

Put twin engines on, you won’t even need a steering wheel!
I don't have room for two engines I will need to mount a bracket and I really don't like to have a bracket out there in the transom

Hi OOTR. The new wheel looks great! I totally agree that the wheels on my Parker look out-dated... That's a good price on your wheel; I spent more than what you paid, (Around $85 each) for just the Edson steering knobs that I put on my wheels; (Your videos end up costing me a lot of $$$ ☺ because now I'd like to have the new wheels!!)... I saw a Tri-State video that shows Parker has upgraded one of their new boats with a similar wheel (not all of them) as yours, except their steering knob is on the wheel itself, and not on the inner rib; I like it better like yours, on the inner rib, as it is more out of the way; I can't tell if the Parker has the finger grips...

LOL thanks Captain yeah I try to add a little humor to it and yes I agree having the knob inside the steering wheel is better for piloting the boat having it on right on top of the wheel is not good cuz you'll have a lot of pumping with it

Out On The Reef I’m about to sign a contract to build a home in Cape Coral, right now I live in Miami. My plans are to take the boat all over the keys, out to the Bahamas and the gulf coast. Fuel can be very costly at a marina so anything I can come up with that will help save fuel I will install on the boat.
@@alessandrogiordani9661 that's going to be amazing for you to go all of those places and your head is in the right place thinking about you because at the Bahamas fuel is over $4.50 per gallon so you're like me very conscious about weight on the boat and fuel economy.

@@mrnewyork347 I miss the 190 FSH olso, but it was time to move on to something more comfortable with more storage air conditioning and safer when lightning and storms happens I feel like I'm in a small tiny little yacht, but I left all this videos with all this information that could help you do some modification if you get a 190 FSH and remember I'm here to help if you need anyting.
