Torch style lighters are easier to use with paracord. They melt the cord faster and can be aimed more accurately. Also, when pressing down the ends I wet my finger tips first. I have been working with cord somewhat professionally for 3 years now, eventually calluses will form and the heat won't bother you as much. Also, good nylon cord is a must. Stronger, lasts longer, and easier to work with. Dollar store cord is not worth it. Great video, I'm about to wrap the wheel for my skiff.
*Perfect Idea Chris, for my riding mower because in AZ's 7% humidity... I can pour some water on it and create and evaporative cooler and almost freeze my hands in the 110+ degree summer* gw
Alrighty, here I go! I'm going to do my FJ Cruiser. I paid to have my husband's done and I feel like I can do better than they did. This video is awesome!
Thank you for the instruction. I'm making a Green Lantern themed car and instead of buying a steering wheel cover I'm going to wrap it with green paracord. If interested ask for a photo. Thanks a lot
@@CaptChrisCanning , all I know is that it looks great and keeps your hands from getting scorched and isn’t expensive, it’s a win -win ! 👍🏼. Oh and Happy NewYear bro ! Tight lines !
I do like the different look it gave the interior of my truck, but the main issue I had w/this was the gap it leaves at every spoke of the wheel so much so that I had to take it off.
Thanks Chris Completed my first wrap on my boat. Took about 1.5 hrs. The supply of cord and “sock feature” helped a lot. I would suggest white or bandage tape or a glove on a few fingers that pull the cord taunt. I have a picture of finished product Can I attach in Comment? Helpful video
Incase you stated in the answer in the video, I had to watch video with no audio. How much paracord did it take to do this? My wheel looks to be the same size.
Thanks for watching. just buy it off amazon and whatever it comes in. I want to say it was 50ft. I know i said it in the video. check the link to the paracord in the description and that is it.
Chris, Deja-vu, I've seen this somewhere before! lol "If your smart you'll have a pair of gloves" (but you don't) well nobody ever said you wer - -he brighte- - bulb
Darn Chris, I did not look after I commented and see UA-cam cut most of it off, SO, lets see if I can add on from Here:: "bulb" in the box. lol 😂 Come On, you can't set a guy up like that and expect him not to pounce. 👊 Thanks for the straight line! 👍 It looks just as nice this time as it did the first time I saw it done. It really dresses up the wheel as well as the boat. It will keep your hands on the wheel especially if they are wet. They clean up nicely with dish liquid soap "suds" and an old tooth brush. Good luck with the boat refurbish. Take Care, Stay Well, and God Bless ✝
Sadly, the camera is not capturing your technique very well. 4:39 literally looks like a magic trick. One frame there's 1 loop, next frame there's 2. Someone can probably 'figure things out' from what you've presented, but the process is *really* not 'coming thru' on video.
Paracord ANY Color: amzn.to/34LuMVR
Lighter: amzn.to/2HWWnKJ

Just wanna make sure I have the right thickness of the paracord, the link is three years old now. What is the thickness of the cord?
Put the organized bunch of cord in a sock instead of trying to hold it all makes life a lot easier
That isn't a back idea at all. I have always hated keeping the rope organized
This is genius
Cool rainy day project. Thanks Chris.

Oh...and dont leave out the massive blisters you get on your hands while doing this lol. I just did mine, came out great...thanks!!
Awesome video. I did my wheel on my boat it turned out great. Thanks for taking the time to do the video. I did subscribe. Thanks again
Didn’t think my truck adventures were gonna lead me to boat videos
Thank you so much man🎉

Actually you could totally do this! I wanna see photos!

Well done video Excellent work. I will do my Jon Jet boat steering wheel now
You should put your paracord bundle in a short sock to keep it organized.
Looks sharp!
Hi Chris , really looks great , what cord diameter did you use ?
HELL YEAH gR8 Job been w8n 4 a vid like this can't w8 2 do it myself
Did you ever get it done???!
I have been doin other paracord projects and Watching other people's projects Thanks for asking
Thank you Chris.
Is there a knot that you can use to finish the wrap in addition to melting it together?
Hi did you remember what color you use looks like gray but I don’t know and I want to use the same color for my boat thanks

That's pretty cool
Thanks for watching 👌🏼
Not bad Chris looks pretty good, btw no tours as of now because of covid-19
Awesome!!!🎉
How much long this rope?
Looks great , good job Chris ! Does this loosen up over time or should ya put a drop of super glue on it to keep it from undoing itself ?
Ya know Dave, Mine has never unraveled or loosened.

Can you do a wrap with two different colors. Or is one the only way.
Not sure on quality difference but I found a ton of colors at Family Dollar Store!

I second the tape. I ended up with a couple minor blisters.
why not tie the ends to each other?
How many feet for the average wheel ?
How many feet to do that steering wheel?

bring the first end back around and tuck it in for at least 10 rounds to hide it and keep it uniform
Tan, Black, and Red

I’m doing my Maverick in seafoam.
So you are not going to show the toughest part of the whole process?
😍😍🔥
Thanks for watching brother
Half hitch?
Basically
that final product is sexy 😎
Yet people already dislike 😂
Just skips over the most frustrating step. Setting the pattern.
The starting point is the most important and the hardest, I'm not going to video it so figure it out yourself. WTF
Terrible video. Skipped the entire beginning part. No idea how to go from step 1 to 3
“The beginning is the hardest part”
….. fails to record the beginning
Yeah no offense but melting the ends of the cord without tucking them UNDERNEATH is a really bad idea. Melted nylon can be as sharp as a knife
Your method for finishing doesn’t look like it will last very long.
Had mine on for 4yrs 👀
If the knots are tight enough, a little mushroom flattened is all you need.
Yeah, thanks for not filming the hardest part..... the first few loops. Wtf
Balabol.
I'm a bozo and I was able to do this, so it can safely be said that any bozo can do this. Thanks for the vid!
"the beginning is the hardest most important part" as you completely skip it!!
???? I literally showed you how to do it
story checks out. but wth do you do with the "tag end" ? its just hanging there! pretty good tutorial though. thank you
@@frogshitjj he showed you, cut out off, melt and tuck it down
@@b18boostedcivic4eva yeah yeah, I got it. Finally
