- Time to introduce the Bucks Garage Shop Truck!
This is a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab with a 5.9L Cummins diesel engine and a G56 6 peed manual transmission. This combination was only available for the 2006 and early 2007 model years so it is a pretty rare bird.
I have owned this truck for 11 years, so it is time to give it a little bit of love with some cosmetic upgrades. Most modern trucks these days don't have near as much chrome as the older trucks have. So in this video I show you how to dechrome your truck or car and bring the look up to a more modern standard. I am really happy with how the truck looks after the chrome delete. A few more upgrades and it will be ready for another 10 years of service!

You bet. I like the look of the 4th gens, would look really nice without the chrome. Sometimes I get the itch to upgrade to a 4th gen, but this has been such a good truck, I decided it was better to just make this one nicer.

Sorry for your loss. New here. Can't believe you have owned the ram for 11 years. I just got home and that's how I found your channel. I got a 06 mega cab 3500 srw with the g56. My dream truck .
That is a sweet spec! I wish mine was a srw 3500 instead of a 2500. I ended up putting Timbren helper springs in it so it functions a bit more like a 3500 now. Enjoy your new truck and thanks for checking out the channel!
Any current updates to your RAM?
Maybe add a compound turbo to it you can do that with those old five nines and I did the LED tail lights and headlights with the LED strip on the bottom. I’ve been looking around for a gram box or stretch my truck which adds a 8 foot box but good job with your truck there
I would like to look at some turbo upgrades at some point. Lately the truck is only used once a month or so and generally for hauling or towing so reliability is the main goal these days. Thing can sit for months and still starts right up and does whatever I need it to!
what material is that grill made of . and also how is it holding up?
It is all plastic, holding up just fine so far.
Nice truck, can it tow a tiny house?
Right up the dang side of a mountain! Might make the passengers nervous while doing it though... :)
What front bumber is that
Just an OEM Laramie bumper. It had a crunched bumper when I bought the truck so I found this Laramie bumper on Craigslist, was already the right color so I slapped it on.
I knew I recognized this truck. I used to see you driving around. Great lookin truck!
Thanks, always liked the look of the 3rd gen and the mega cab is pretty sweet. The newer trucks are really nice inside, but this isn't my daily driver and the reliability of letting it sit for months at a time, then hitting the key and not having any issues is hard to beat!
@@bucksgarage yeah seeing yours and a few others in the valley made me get one! I had a third gen with a different headlight style. I decided to switch it up and get the same model as you. It’s currently being worked on by the seller before he passes it off to me. One more week and I’ll have one! Super stoked.
Cool video! I have the same truck except auto. Same color as well. All yours needs is some Alpharex headlights and it will be exactly what I’m doing with mine!
That is hopefully my next step, the Alpharex stuff looks nice and they have a gray version that should look sharp on it. I need to figure out a rear bumper too.
@@bucksgarage I’m just going to color match the factory chrome bumper. Roll pans look cool but you lose the functionality of a bumper/step.
@@Braap_Jackson I like the roll pan look a lot, and I am okay with losing the step. My issue is you lose the stock hitch with a roll pan which I am not willing to give up. They make a different hitch version that works with the roll pan, but then you lose your spare tire and I don't want to do that either. So color matched stock bumper is likely the way I will have to go too.
@@bucksgarage I totally agree. There’s a balance between what looks best but still works as a truck. What did you use to level the truck?
@@Braap_Jackson Truck was leveled when I bought it, pretty sure it is just the pucks that sit on top of the springs in the front. Stock suspension otherwise with some Bilstein shocks. I did do the upgraded steering to get rid of the Y setup and put a steering stabilizer brace in it too.
