      "without propaganda" ...What does that mean exactly?...without criticism?

    • @bigbaddwolff
      @bigbaddwolff 10 років тому +10

      @ jerry silverman
      The BBC rarely "criticizes" Russia. I know because I watch the channel. In the UK, right-wingers criticize the BBC for not being biased enough. It reports the news and gives both sides of every story. It has to be careful because Putin will withdraw its licence to report from/in Russia. It has reporters on the ground in Russia and they would also be in danger. How many Russian journalists have been murdered or attacked in Russia in the last 10 years?
      BTW I also get Russia Channel 1 and speak quite good Russian. My wife is Russian and I've been to Russia many times. What you've described in your comment also applies, if not more, to Russia. All the State channels spout subjective nonsense, and Russia is more xenophobic than almost any country on earth -- with laws against "foreign agents", and stupid talk about "fascism", "genocide" and "propaganda".
      So with respect, please don't lecture me about "propaganda". I have a mind of my own. Nowadays, "propaganda" is just a code word for "facts that I refuse to accept" and/or any criticism of Russia's actions in Krim and Donbass.

    • @zloychechen5150
      @zloychechen5150 9 років тому +3

      bigbaddwolff oh come on, propaganda is not facts that we refuse to accept. it's an approach to delivery of information. and sometimes the information itself is not true. the bbc is probably one of the least guilty of the latter, but some of the american channels are. and you're absolutely right about, say, the russia24 channel and RT. i can't watch those, becaue they say putinputinputin/everythingisgreat/thewestsucks between the lines (and sometimes not even between), and it makes me sad that there are so many people who consume and really believe it.

    • @bigbaddwolff
      @bigbaddwolff 9 років тому +1

      + zloychechen5150
      I don't care about US channels, it's none of their damn business anyway, especially the loons at FOX. The current official Russian approach to the conflict in Donbass is known as "maskirovka" = denial and deception. I watch Russian Channel 1 and various European channels -- at least the European channels try to represent both sides of the conflict. Channel 1 is almost laughably biased.

    • @zloychechen5150
      @zloychechen5150 9 років тому

      bigbaddwolff i don't even ever watch channel1 for the very reason one shouldn't at all consider it as a medium. it's a pool of shit for stupid people.

      The difference between the US and Russia (there are many differences, but the main psychological difference) as far a people are concerned? Nobody likes Russia or the US...but Americans, simply, do not give a fuck. America's greatest strength (and its incorrectly perceived greatest weakness) is that it just does not give a fuck what anybody on earth thinks about. Russia is paranoid because you're ass backwards, and you resent it. You want to be liked, you have a hunger to know what people outside of Russia are thinking about you. America has never wasted a second of its existence contemplating how non-Americans might think about it. America doesn't have time for anyone, interest in anyone, reverence for anyone. America is sometime called the "leader" of the West, but it doesn't give a flying fuck about the rest of the West, is indifferent to the rest of the West. The US isn't ideologically connected to anyone...not fucking Canada, the UK...any of them. I'd say "fuck em" if I could ever be bothered to even think of them. The US is John Wayne....by itself, unconcerned with anyone but itself. It doesn't matter if the US is painted as the good or bad guy, it's the same fucking thing to us....meaningless.

      He says: "I'm a spy. And you're a spy, too. Work for us! Repeat after me: "I hate Tolstoj and Chekhov. I love Lady Gaga. And doughnuts!"

    As a Russian person living in US I find this content really funny! Good job Dylan, your Russian is great!

    Bullshit. He did a couple of gigs here, in Russia, with the same stuff he did in other countries. People liked it. The cultures are definitely NOT vastly different.
    Why is he uncomfortalbe? Probably because it wasn't a great audience -- half of them were just extras, so there was no proper respond to what he said (although it is very funny and true :)
    By the way, even in UK Dylan doesn't participate much in this kind of TV shows -- it could be confusing as well.
