茨城の潮来生まれの私が28歳の時仕事が休みで水戸の文化センター内で知り合いがいたので遊びに行った時のことで、レストランの隅の方で外人さんが何人もいました。あの人たちはとレストランのスタッフに尋ねました。ベンチャーズが公演で来日し、今日はここの文化センターで公演中なんですよと言われ私はその場でチケットは買えますかと聞いたら「大丈夫買えますよ」と言われ急遽購入しました。何と前から3列目で観覧することができました。生で見るのは全く初めてでレコードは何枚か持ってましたが夢のような出来事で私の人生の中で忘れられない日になりました。本当に運が良かったの一言に尽きました。特にブルースター、アパッチが大好きでベンチャーズの曲はすべて今でもノリノリで聞いて毎日仕事の励みですね。
ドラマ－メルテイラー素晴らしい。しんどいやろな。もうこんなインスルメンタルバンドは出てこない。ありがとう。
ベンチャーズ60年代、熱狂的ファンでした、また、あの頃ベンチャーズの曲と共に多くの想い出が残りました。

Mel Taylor is one of the best drummers I have ever heard. I dont think Buddy Rich or Gene Kruper could hold a candle to him! So sad they're all gone
