I was ten years old when Walk Don't Run was first produced. I'm 75 now, and I've loved 65 years of Ventures music! There is always music to relax and refresh the mind. I will carry this love to my grave before long, and I sure hope Heaven is filled by their music!
Gerald James McGee, known as Gerry McGee, born in Eunice, Louisiana in 1937, into a very musical Cajun family. Gerry joined The Ventures in 1968 and travels to Japan every summer to play concerts with The Ventures. Gerry McGee was the second great lead guitarist in the Ventures, joining for "Hawaii Five-O" and playing on scads of records and tours. Legendary guitarist Gerry McGee, 82, died of an apparent heart attack in Tokyo Oct. 12 while on a solo tour of Japan.
I saw them twice in person. During the break I talked with Don Wilson and we got on to Gerry McGee and Don told me that Gerry was one of the best pickers around. I wish we could see them one more time. But the memories will last me until I'm gone, being 78 years old now. They were the best.
My favourite quitar group since they started and was lucky enough to see and hear them live in Winnipeg Manitoba a few years ago. Was an awesome experience where they played all the oldies of their careers that the audience well appreciated.
These wonderful musicians gave us a lifetime of great memories and love. I could listen forever!!! Thank you, Ventures!!! Nobody will ever fill your shoes.

I'm certainly glad that I was able to grow up listening to The Ventures from day 1 and all throughout their career, I had the pleasure of meeting them and going backstage with the group, what a wonderful group of guys as well as fabulous musicians!! Thanks for posting this gem!!
I've listened to some Ventures, even learned to play Pipeline and Apache, but never realized how good Gerry is. WOW! Never heard him play acoustic or songs of this complexity. He's one of the best.

If you look up 'I can Help' by Billy Swan here on UA-cam you might find the videos where Gerry is playing lead guitar on them as Billy Swan plays the Hammond organ. I've seen these guys in person 2 times and they were great.
you need up grade. it is 2012. they have been touring Japan since 1962.and this year makes 50th Anniversary tour in Japan Don is 79 years old still active.
