My favorite memories from dota come from when Luna's aura was changed to give % damage and armor instead of just flat damage and drows aura gave agility. My stack would pick drow, venge, luna, and 2 beefy frontliners like axe and sb. We would have 3 heroes hitting for 300+ damage at 15 minutes and just end the game. All of this was based around drow ranger as the centerpiece. What an absolutely incredible hero
Yo we run something similar to this instead of luna we played 1drow 2 visage 3enchantress 4pudge 5venge we try to get the crit creep and then push with all the creeps and auras in 15 mins
I started playing with drow and dota 2 was my first moba. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was still winning almost everything when I got to pick drow. Love the hero.
Back in Dota 1 in Garena days she quickly became one of my favorite heroes. In the time when pubs were being dominated by Trolls Voids and Slarks she was a carry who really stood out with with her style of play. Her level 6 was insane despite how low that agi bonus seems nowadays. You could dominate mid game unlike with any other right click hero. She didnt suffer from unique attack modifier limitations on Q to the same extent as other heroes. You could build Desolator for example and all you had to do was Q a person once to apply slow and then normal hit to apply deso debuff. Then continue with Q because target has no armor. I remember Dominator being popular as well. Maelstrom for example was usable on all heroes with unique attack modifiers because it had higher priority on proc. Starting with Dota 2, I understand why she didnt work in pro play. She relied on flanking too much. She really was a ranger, you roam the jungle at night with bonus night vision and start hitting people before they realise whats going on. Thats hardly gonna work in organized Dota. Gust just silencing and not pushing people back meant she had absolutely no defense. She wasnt that bad despite what her winrate/pickrate suggests, its more that there were handful of heroes that were way too good and rendered 50% of heroes unplayable. Including Drow. You probably didnt know this, but the last nail in the coffin for Precision Aura was Visage Familiars and not the weakness of the spell. In 2019 it came around full circle and the strongest high rank pub combo was Drow Visage but not many people knew(or cared) as not many played Visage. What you said about attack speed being worse than damage is true in most cases, but for a solid few months she ended up having 88% att speed bonus on level 4 and that buff on Familiars meant that towers were falling in literally 5 seconds. Valve was tired of the spell having no middle ground, being bad but at the same time completely broken in a very certain draft. Bonus fun fact: that instakill on ult mechanic introduced in 7.20 was actually how Marksmanship used to work before 2008.
@@5chneemensch138 They literally gave her an instakill mechanic on creeps because she couldn't farm for shit because she had no farming spells and couldn't buy malestrom because orbs were still a thing. I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the Gambler. And the reason she wasn't played in pro games was because of her inability to quickly clear camps/waves and farm efficiently to flash farm and obtain map control. It's not a coincidence that the same patch where they changed marksman to what it is today, they gave her multishot at the same time. If you watch top level players some of them go in depth of what makes heros viable as a carry, and most of the time it isn't the "style" of how a carry fights, but about how a carry can achieve it's timings while impacting the game state without needing to teamfight as much as possible in the first 15-20 minutes of the game.

In dota 1, we just level up stats and her passive and buy helm of dominator, some wraith bands and your good to go.
