I remember you saying you tend to take frequent breaks from doing all the stuff and things having to do with washing and styling your hair curly. I'm interested in seeing what your routine is like when you need to wash your hair but don't feel like styling, like a product free wash day short of maybe a leave-in and continue applying your same techniques. When I do that I'll brush style after raking and finger detangling with my leave-in conditioner, scrunch and microplop, then diffuse. I'll do this if I'm feeling lazy in general.

She already has multiple videos on product-free wash days. If you search "product free" on her channel, you'll find them.

Even air drying and putting up in a bun your hair is still beautiful and so shiny!

Just here to say - I went to Target to check out this brand after this video. I saw that they have a "sensitive" line that is also fragrance free and I never bought anything so fast. The shampoo and conditioner are delightful. No issues whatsoever with my sensitive scalp. The conditioner left my hair so soft and frizz free. I barely used any styling product.

I didn't see the Swan Princess but I have seen Swan Lake. The White Swan is Odette and the Black Swan was Odile. My hair is just the opposite of yours. My front is curlier and the back is more wavy. Also, I have one section under my hair at the left side nape of my neck that won't curl very much at all.

Would love a video that covers all your favorite shampoos for those of us with hair that tends to get greasy at the roots. My hair is pretty much exactly like yours and the grease situation drives me nuts. I hate having to use dry shampoo. I tried the AG Hair Curl Fresh shampoo the other day and yikes! Was super greasy by the next day to where I had to rewash my hair. My favorite shampoo that Aveda made was discontinued and while I still have some left, I am also trying to get a head start of trying new things. The only other shampoo I found that I really like is the Genesis Strengthening Shampoo by Kerastase. I discovered it via receiving a free bottle of it and I just like how lightweight it is. I really don't need the strengthening component of it and prefer to not purchase it as I know there has got to be better options out there at that price point that is better suited for my hair.

Would you try a video where you could part your hair in the middle and one side using a product that contains magnesium sulfate (and or another video doing this comparison with a product containing sea salt) and the other side without this product? It would be so interesting!
By the way, your hair looks beautiful!

I'd love to see a wash day of either Saltair products, or Rhyme & Reason wave line!
You can get rhyme and reason products at target, and for saltair you can get the shampoos and conditioners at target but from what I've seen you have to order the gel on their website.

My hair is about the same length as yours. I use leave-in conditioner, curl cream and gel. I don't brush style nor diffuse. I always air dry. I end up with loose waves from the ears forward, and there is a "party" in the back with tighter waves, curls and ringlets.

  • @simplycurlyde

You're not alone. I'm not that good at brushing styling either, but I keep trying every now & then. I think it's good with 3/4 of my hair (the lower sections). The top & front sections don't do so well with the Bounce Curl brush. Those sections are very higher porosity & like yours, pretty much straight. They need extra help. I find using a brush like the Bounce Curl brush, w/o the comb edges, will help make the curl better.
Oh, btw, I noticed that your nails & your ring matched the Bounce Curl brushes! That must be your favorite color.

I do the same as you with a flexible hold gel. I immediately start adding WAY too much! I used Virtue full shampoo and conditioner because their products are also natural fragrance too (my favorite) and then I use Jessicurl spiralicious gel fragrance free version. So, I thought I would try Virtue 6 in one stlyer (have no idea why I didn't use their curl defining gel) and it's a soft hold and I added way too much, hated the smell even though it was natural scent and it never went away. Had to wash it out. My plan is to try the Virtue Curl defining gel and see if I like it as much as Jessicurl. Maybe you could try them for me?? I always refresh with Jessicurl gelebration spray to do a full wet refresh on the 2nd or 3rd day. I will have to give Odele shampoo and conditioners a try, but right now I am loving Jessicurl gels due to no scent. I have never liked fragrance products even in my laundry.

I think of Swan Princess too when I see the name!
Also, I don't do wet refreshes either because it takes just as much time for me to fix it as a wash day. And then massive frizz happens 😂 I use the Ouidad Featherlight Cream Touch Up Gel and it works well for me. My hair is far curlier (like actual ringlets!) up front and then the back is just barely wavy 😂

I think you might have better luck with brush styling if you grab bigger sections when you go to brush through. Like each time you grab a little chunk of hair, grab a bigger chunk. I've tried this and it makes a big difference. I also have fine hair, dense hair, and low porosity. So I think it would work well for you too! Try it! ❤😊

The results look very stunning! Would you consider revisiting/redoing a Noughty or Pump Haircare One-Brand Wash-day? I'm not sure whether the fragrances might trigger your allergies though.

Hi Courtney great video as always! Just curious, how do you decide whether or not to double cleanse with a shampoo? When it lathers good the first time or when it has stronger surfactants in the ingredients? TIA!🌼🌼

I enjoy your videos and the things i learn. Could dry shampoos, especially the powdered ones, help control the oily roots in days 2 and 3? I've even used corn starch for oil control.

Hi Courtney, great video as always! Your hair looks so nice after this washday!
I'd love if you could do a video on tips for wavy coarse hair that is not damaged. Or maybe even find a head model with such hair and do a wash day vid. :) I've been doing CG method of sorts for years so I don't use heat tools. But my hair is coarse, wavy, and I think high porosity, yet gets oily at the scalp easily. I'm in kind of a rut and don't know what to do or try with my hair lately. Also, living in Canada, I don't have access to the same products as you use at times. :)

Sometimes running damp hands down the head might help guide the frizz back into their families.
The refresh looks nice. Will it help it last a few more days?

Hey Courtney, I am having some real struggles with my hair. I have been trying the different products using your guide and such and yet I still have issues. I haven’t seen you address one big topic. Chemo curl! My hair was stick straight baby fine, and couldn’t hold a curl unless I had a permanent or a body weight. Fast forward to when I had chemo and now my hair is such a tight curl and with the baby fine hair it tangles so easily. Also, it has a tendency to be on the dry side because I have lupus, sjogrens is the big one.. everything on me is dry from my skin, to my eyes to my hair. I think where it really gets frustrating for me is the styling product. Period I sleep with a silk pillowcase, put my hair up in a silk scrunchie at night, and after one night, my hair is so tangled. I’m wondering if others have experienced this and can you try to address this issue? I am sure I can’t be alone with this chemo curl.
