- 2 years ago my friend Mike did a video of the modifications he's done to his BMW F800GS. We received a lot of positive feedback and questions about the bike.
Now Mike is back with an update on how the bike has been doing the last couple of years. It now has over 30,000 miles on it.
One of the most realistic and down to earth long term reviews, thanks.
thank you!
After 2 months of watching reviews. Your actual long-term writing review and commentary has been the most helpful in helping me decide what motorcycle I want to buy next. Thank you very much
Thank you Ambrose! Mike and I appreciate that!
Great video - Mike gives great advice in not changing out stuff before you settle into the bike and realize what you truly NEED vs. what the forums are preaching.
His bike is so well sorted that he's the only guy I know not talking about what his next bike is. He's completely happy with the GS. That's a good testament to this bike after 30,000 miles.
Awesome video, looking to get a f800gs in the next couple months. It will be my first adventure bike. Taking it straight to the Grand Canyon.
cool, thanks for the comment!
Vermont is nice. I recognized it right away :) I used to live in NH and always preferred to ride in Vermont.
Yes, I'm not far from southern New Hampshire, but Vermont just seems like the natural place to ride.
Nice video, but the reality is different as I'm riding every day... bought my bike used at 3500miles at 2016 January, now it's 08/12/2018 and I had following experience at 4000 miles I had the clutch change in warranty, oil leak from valve gasket as well changed in warranty. After few trips to Croatia in recent years bike show and started developing issues with speed sensor wrong data, headlight burnout somehow - I still do not understand why, and head gasket issue. At 32000 miles engine overheating, oil mixing with coolant, idling and engine dying at red lights... after head gasket change and 800£ shorter, still realising its not ok thinking to buy Honda as I will be able... and have a peace. Its great bike when it works.
Great video! I've been riding a G 650 gs for a couple of years now and contemplating moving to an f800 gs. I know this vid was awhile ago but any info on his luggage setup? Thanks!
Mike has a couple of sets of luggage. He's got a pair of the Jesse bags and another that are soft bags.
Nice vid. Thanks
thanks for the feedback. Mike is still loving his F800GS
I'm going get off the sport bike s1000rr and try out a used 2014 f800gs (only 600miles on her) and tear up Utah..thanks for the vid
I think you'll find it's a great sport touring bike too. Thanks for the comment!
what tyres have you on her?
Sorry for the delay, I had to ask Mike. Those are the Mitas E-10 knobbies. He liked them. Right now he's running the Michelin Anakee Wilds and he's reporting those are great tires as well. We spent the day riding dirt and mud yesterday and they were great.
thank you for feedback, next time you get a chance can you please ask what milleage did E10's last? cheers
Nice to see a really nice honest review changed my mind about this bike even those the services are expensive ,31000 seriously happy miles may the gentleman with the bike have many more great review ride safe 😀🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
Thanks Jakey B. Mike is still riding the bike today, no issues with it and no plans to replace it with anything.
I don't know if I want one or if it's too heavy...
I think they are all heavy unless you go with a 250. I was amazed at how easily I could move one of those around. I don't see much difference between an 800 or 1200.
@@AdventuresWithMe00 Exactly. That's my point. It's too close to the 1200 for my liking. Especially after fitting engine guard baseplate and the likes.
But then again I don't see a better alternative twin cylinder bike that's also capable of doing some longer road stretches
biggest problem with that bike is very soft front suspension and rear shock tiny bolt which bends when real off-road.
Thanks for the reply many blessings to mike may he have many more great experiences from the Uk 😀🤪 do my test beginning of Aug fiiiirssssssst biggggggg bikkkkkke yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yippee kiyay mudder truckers lol Happy riding to everyone be safe 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
wow, mine runs great but i get about 38-43 mpg, had it to dealer to check it, but all is good, plugs were clean, good compression, they cked sensors but all ok. i have to fill up about 140 to 150 miles. my ktm 990 is far better
Thanks for the comment Sparky. I was astounded when I heard the kind of mileage Mike is getting with the bike.
