Probably one of the most underrated and overlooked mid sized bikes. It checks a lot of boxes for the cost. Very capable and comfortable along with being approachable as well. Not much available in this segment that offers CC, quick shifter, TFT, etc.
I love your enthusiasm on every bike you ride. I gets me interested in bikes that I normally wouldn't even look at twice. Always love seeing your new vids. Keep up the great work! 🙂
I’m riding my 310gs for a year and sometimes I feel like I need to upgrade to this. The 310gs is really all I need (I keep telling myself) but it’s barebones. The 800gs would be a great bike for me. Great video. The blue one is what I’d get.
I have put almost 40.000km on my F750GS in two and a half summers now. I have test ridden the 1300GS and did a day of enduro training on it. It is amazing, no doubt, but why would I spend double the money for burning more fuel, when the power of the 750 is very rarely used to its max by me? I have all the nice gimmicks as well, if we exclude the radar based features for a minute. I might well go for this F800GS when my bike has gathered too many miles in a few years. Thanks for the nice video.
Yes, I wasn't around to see the upgrade, I only ever saw them with the none tft. Believe it or not, I saw a F750GS at the DGR with a TFT and thought bugger 🤣 i'll try and snip that bit out 😊
It was the second best bike in the enduro world after boxer engine 1250 GS. But now bigger brother is on the market F900 GS which is so so quick and goodly priced 13.500
I pleasant surprise to see you on a MY24 F800GS. I do like this bike. I understand it was sprung on you, but I also hope you get an opportunity to do a more in-depth walking around and talk more about it as you point out a few things. Thanks for posting/sharing this. Cheers! :)
Because blurting out those numbers won't mean a lot to a lot of people. Where as sest height is a pretty universal thing to quote. If you're interested in a bike, you should always sit on it yourself.
Hi Kate, do you reckon this bike with a big windshield is comfortable on the highway? I am thinking about getting this but I want stability and no vibrations on the highway at high speeds.
Great vid! I really love this bike and feel it’s my next step up from my 650cc Scrambler. Is Cruise Control available on this model? The price point is just right for me compared to the other GS’s.
Great review, thank you. As a 750gs rider for the last year I have been looking at a few reviews of the 800. It’s really as I suspected and offers little extra to make upgrading worthwhile. Indeed one review suggested that this was probably a stop gap model and a more fully developed version may be a couple of years away - one that might for example include some of the weight reduction features of the new 900gs. Watch this space 😊
My wife bought a Tiger 900GT Low a few years back, partially due to your review. She mostly loves it but gets a pain in her shoulders due to the reach to the bars. We partially addressed this with offset risers to the max of the cable length. Then, last fall, she had a F750GS for 2 weeks in Portugal and was immediately smitten with the comfort of the machine. It just fits her 5'3" frame perfectly. The problem was the shortage of power relative to the Tiger (not a huge deal in Portugal, but back home it is). So, does the 800 feel more zippy than the 750? Is it clise to the Tiger 900?
I like this bike in its basic form (this colour) because the moment we start spec up this thing then it’s reaches to other more expensive and in the territory of big brothers and looses the whole point. I personally think that if you want to go far in remote areas then keep your bike as simple as possible e.g. lesser electronics.
What is a parallel twin, is it a v twin or a transverse twin side by side. Is the BMW f 900 basically the same as the Voge 900 twin, Loncin apparently has a long standing relationship with BMW, making some engines for BMW
A PT engine has two cylinders positioned side by side, aligned vertically or slightly inclined - both pistons move within the engine block in parallel :) yes, its the same engine that's in the F900gs
@UsernameKate you still need to have a go on mine, definitely won't feel like a 750gs you road, but they are such a pleasure to ride, they are an absolute mile muncher and comfortable, mine does not dive like the others, a cheap easy fix from hyperpro or Touratech changes the feeling of the ride completely.
So intriguing!! Looking forward to giving it a go! 😊 I've snipped it out now so should take a few hours to process out. I saw it at the DGR and thought oh brother 🤣 but I've been that busy, I haven't had a moment to fart let alone edit the scheduled video 😭😅
Congrats! may I ask why you discarded the Triumph 850 sport as an option? seen many sites claiming the Tiger is better even though the BMW is better equipped and with just an ECU flash you should get the F900 horsepower...
@@cautilligab it didn’t have the creature comforts that I wanted and I didn’t like how the screen was laid out it was hard to just glance at something really quickly.
@@MicheleAdventuesthanks a lot. Will check it out in person next week. Want to see what people say about it’s size (some say that it looks skinny and small) If it was my choice I want a GS over a Triumph. 😊
Correct! I'm going to try and snip that bit out because when I was selling them years ago, they only came with the none TFT dash, or at least they're the only ones that ever landed in the showroom. Then at the DGR on Sunday, I saw an F750GS Sport and thought... oh brother 🤣
I think this would be my choice from the current lineup. I think I would choose the white version because I simply don't really like any of them. LOL. So I would get white because its the cheapest and wrap it in a colour/graphic of my choice. I would change the wheels for wire spoked wheels in silver, not gold like they seem to have gone to these days. Probably change the exhaust to something a bit better looking. I like the low seat height which brings me to a rare complaint about your review. You didn't do your usual sitting on the bike showing how your feet reach the ground thing. Come on Kate, what were you thinking? LOL. Seat height isn't everything though. 2 different bikes with the same seat height aren't necessarily the same when you try to get your feet flat on the ground. Getting both my feet flat on the ground is a biggie for me. I am not overly short, but I have short legs and I am getting too old and my brain is too full of wisdom and other important stuff to be thinking about how and where I am going to put my feet down. I love your reviews. Specially the adventure bike reviews. Not so much those sport bike ones though. LOL. Keep up the great work.
Forgive me, I did have to remember to do EVERYTHING correctly for 5 bikes in 2 days lol. It's pretty low and there's loads of options to make it lower so it will 100% fit anyone in one of their many options of height trim :) And yeah, white and graphics kit would transform its looks!
If a lot of people were more honest with themselves, this is the bike they would be buying rather than the more dirt focused mid-capacity bikes or the large capacity ADVs
🤔Noticed, not many, if any, answer your questions here in the comments, but prefer to say how good you are, or what a good video it is..., so i'll be different and answer a question. Who is this bike for? Commuter? No - too heavy, too big engine, exhaust that take space dedicated for panniers. Adventure? Absolutely not. Touring? No because it has no wind protection. Typical heavy bmw.
The vario paniers from the r1250gs and prior work on this bike, so that is not an issue (especially if you have the R1250GS for long touring and this for commuting, etc.). As and ex-owner of 750gs (4 seasons) I simply do not agree with most things you say.
