- This is a bonus video to this week's episode of Honest Tries.
August the Duck gave me the idea to try this out with Monster Energy Drink, so I did!

I just want to add my two cents about Monsters: As somone who's gone through kidney failure and had a transplant, "Monsters are bad for you" is half of the story. The other half is -hydration-.
An occasional Monster is fine, as long as you're consistantly hydrated. The people that develop kidney stones from drinking monsters, a close family member included, tend to drink them chronically, along with soda, coffee, or whatever except water.
Drink water when you're thirsty, drink soda/Monster/Alchohol/anything else as a treat.
NOTE: My kidney failure was not a result of abusing drinks of any kind. It was from being a diabetic for 21 years and complications from Covid.

@@HonestTries I drink Monster here and there but its mostly redbull but like 1 a day maybe, or one every few days, right now its alot of Game fuel and vitamin water
I enjoy a bit of sugar and caffeine, but I can't understand how people can drink these things all the time. They're revolting.

I think the main problem with kidney issues and monsters is the dehydration caused by caffeine. Hydration is hard enough, and caffeine makes it harder.
"Just enough mountain dew to cover the eggs" is not a sentence I expected to hear today
I watched the other one and then made hard boiled eggs to snack on. Same with August the Duck's video. Now I am going to make them again. Plain ones make a yummy snack with a pinch of salt or I might turn these into deviled eggs. Yummy.

The wtater test doesnt mean they're bad :) its a common misconception. it just meas they are older. Eggs can be kept for a suprising amount of time when stored properly

I mean I'm drinking 1 monster a day and have been for nearly 2 years and I'm fine so far at least, not noticed anything out of the normal. Some days I drink 1 and a half or 2 monsters, depends on if I was able to drink up the one from the last day.

Well, I guess now I have a good idea of what Hepatitis tastes like.
I also wanted to say, this TECHNIQUE is legitimate, it's used for making "soy eggs" which are super yum. The idea is you soft boil the egg, then lightly crack the shell and then recook to hard boiled with a soy sauce and water mixture, maybe with star anise. When you peel them, they have a kind of crackled look of black lines with lighter soy penetration in the other areas.

Making eggs in monster like this should be considered a warcrime against humanity
you actually generally want to use slightly older eggs when hard boiling, they're easier to peel - fresh eggs, meanwhile, make for better poached eggs because they hold together better.
in either case you should probably not use mountain dew or monster energy as the cooking medium.

Interesting, this is definitely from DKC! I just looked it up and it's a different composer.
My bad lol idk why I instantly thought of bejeweled but it does sound a bit off now that I listen to it again. I did play a fair bit of dkc on my Gameboy advance when I was younger and it's my mom's favorite game, tied with super Mario world. Anyways, can't believe I mixed the two up. Definitely a nostalgic sound nonetheless.

For HallowEaster.
Try using a syringe to inject a small amount of Monster and Mountain Dew into the raw egg. Then use one of those spinning contraptions that scrambles the raw egg inside its shell. After that boil it and see how it taste.
I've only had Mountain Dew once in my life. I didn't dislike it but it somehow felt like handling a heart attack in a bottle.

Monster is fine as long as you drink at least 2-2.5l of water a day on top of it.
it seems that the original recipe that this was all based off on was a tea egg, which is a legit and much more tasty thing.
how tea eggs are prepared are via hard boiling, gently cracking the surface and then either cooking a second time in a heavily seasoned savory tea liquid or marinating it in the same liquid for a few days (i could be wrong but im just briefly googling it)
seems like a much better way of making it than... whatever this monstrosity is.
That's exactly how I do my eggs(well with water, not monster 😅), put in cold water, bring to a boil, toss on a cover and remove from heat and wait 12 mins. Perfect everytime.

I am not a big energy drink guy anyway, but Monster is definitely the most disgusting. V is ok. Red bull is meh. Monster tastes like artificial banana lemon vomit to me.

Really expected this to just taste like eggs with a hint of Monster like the last eggs. Guess the flavor has more penetration than I thought.
I think it was because I stabbed them more and cooked them for far longer.
I've been drinking waay too many energy drinks the past year and I just got my first kidney stone at 37. I've cut my consumption down from one a day to a couple per week ever since and you've convinced me that's probably for the best. Water for the win
Once you get one, you're prone to make more. I actually cut out energy drinks completely after my first one, but my kidneys started making them anyway.
My advice- you can still have things like coffee, soda, etc for caffeine, but make sure you're hydrated with water before. When you're at the supermarket, buy a few lemons each week. Each time you go refill your water, squeeze a wedge of lemon into it. The acid from the lemon is supposed to help preventing them from forming. I started doing that a few months ago and my stones stopped.
@@HonestTries that's exactly what my mom said. They unfortunately run in the family, even my younger brother had one recently. At least I knew the signs and didn't freak out when it started hurting like my mom did with her first stone.
