Didn’t sort out my problem with hotpoint washing machine.but after much head scratching and other you tube videos,we had took off top of machine and checking all power cables to see no obvious signs of wear and tear,my wife was checking inside machine down near door locking system and suddenly something felt loose and then she pushed it into place.tried power again and Bingo, problem sorted.i must have caused the problem as I had been replacing 2 shock observers at bottom of machine and whilst laying machine on its side to do this job,it rolled out of my reach and fell on its side.only once we had replaced 2 shock observers and tried power that it failed to turn on. I know I probably caused the problem initially but hopefully this might help someone with power issues.had fear that I had damaged the circuit board and was going to cost me ££££

Thanks for the tip on resetting the power in the first minute of the video, it worked on my Kenmore washing machine. I would be curious to know why it went into that state, and if that is a warning sign that something else might fail on it sooner than later.
Thanks for watching and welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Most common cause believe it or not is a power outage. Anytime your system encounters a power outage such as your house electrical system losing power, it can revert to a type of protection mode within the control panel and will need to be reset. Hope all is well. 😎👍🔧🔩
My washer did not turn on when I plugged it back from a maintenance I performed. It will just chime and display the number of minutes and will turn off. So I did this. I unplugged and hit the power button on. It turned off and died , obviously. I plugged in the washer on the receptacle again and hit the power button. This time it works. It seems like there is a reset procedure to get the machine to turn on if you didn't push the power button before you unplug it.
What’s up Robert, thanks for watching & sharing this. That’s awesome you’re back up and running. Definitely keep an eye on it over the next few cycles. Keep us posted if it experiences any additional troubles, we DIYers need to stick together!
Hi. I have a kenmore 41477210 it won't turn on like you show so over the past couple of weeks I just unplug it for 5 minutes and plug it back in and panel turns on without hitting start button.if I do a load another load right after it continues to work but if I let it set off for a hour it won't turn back on and I have to unplug it to start over. Any videos you have addressing this issue? Much thanks and thank you for doing these videos very nice of you. Falcon

Thank you! You saved some new (very young) homeowners some money during the quarantine! Just one question! Is there any way to know what cause it from not turning on? Or how to fix it from not doing it in the future. Would we replace the control panel itself if the problem persists?
Juan Vazquez Thanks for watching, so sorry for the delay. In most cases, your failed part will trigger an error code that will come up on the control panel screen. Our machine, a defy does not have a separate power button. It has a knob that we turn to turn it on, and select a function. We do have a start/pause button. What sequence would we use considering we don't have a seperate power button. Btw, ours is brand new too.

Watched videos and read comments for 2 hours the other night to find out why my Kenmore 79640311900 washer wouldn't power up. (We had a major storm on Easter and lost power for 2 days.) Found several videos saying to unplug it and hold buttons down, which basically allows it to time out so it works when you plug it back in (and it sparks) ; it works initially, but you must do this each time you use it (it does the same thing if you leave it unplugged for 10 to 30 seconds or turning the circuit breaker off). Several people found that plugging the washer into a power strip worked, instead of plugging directly to the outlet. Also saw where some videos say you must replace a $250 control board or some even a $50 noise filter. Found 2 mentions (in 2 hours) of unplugging machine for 30 minutes to allow capacitors to lose their charge before plugging it back in. Thought this was a bunch of dookie, but now it works like a charm! So far so good!
dude wth my machine wasnt turning on you saved me 100 AED for technicians visit you rock man one query tho, now everytime I want to run the machine I have to press power button for long (no unplugging power cord) then it turns on, any idea why or how to fix it? Im happy its running
Usman JJ Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us. Glad to hear you’re up & running. This is usually cause by an intermittently working control panel. Your control panel sends out signals to all machine sensors during the cycle as well as recurved signals. Once the control panel begins to wear out, it can no longer manage the signals being sent out & back in...causing your symptoms. Keep us posted. Seems like BS... Tried it. OMG this man is genius‼️ 👏 💯💯💯

Juan Vazquez
Thanks for watching, so sorry for the delay. In most cases, your failed part will trigger an error code that will come up on the control panel screen. Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen every single time an error or failure occurs... but it’s the best way to know the exact part that has failed.
Hope this helps. Please subscribe to the channel and Ring your UA-cam Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again!

DIY With Michael Borders Actually Michael the machine just went dead again. I managed to restart it with your instructions but is this a sign of a more serious problem do you think? Cheers, Malcolm
@@malcolmmcguire2876
Thanks for the reply, it’s very possible that your control panel is in the early stages of failure.

So far so good!

one query tho, now everytime I want to run the machine I have to press power button for long (no unplugging power cord) then it turns on, any idea why or how to fix it?
Im happy its running

Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us.
