HOW TO: ESKATE Kydex ESC Pod - Start to Finish
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2016
- This is how I made a Kydex ESC pod to hold a VESC on my electric skateboard. From start to finish: sketching the layout, making a buck, thermoforming the Kydex and mounting it to the deck are included.

I'll be trying this out over the weekend. Your videos are really helpful, thank you.
this is probably the most diy i have leant from one eskate video. thanks
Thanks. I hope to make some more videos soon. Been out of the loop for a while.
Still loving your vids👍🏼
really nicely made
Man thats so friggin cool.
That is pimp! thanks for making that!
Great video! Do you think if I got a big enough sheet of kydex, would it be practical to have a really big enclosure enclosing about 100 18650 cells as a 10s10p and two vesc's? Would I need supports in the middle? or would you think the mounting hardware would hold it and the material itself wouldn't warp down from the weight?
Nice dude!
super nice
awesome video : )
thank you
Hi, you do great work it looks nice and clean.
I have a question for how long you heat the kytex and at what temperature
thanks Ricky
Sorry. Thought I had replied. I slowly raise the oven temp over about 15-20min til I hit 340*F. I use a IR temp gun to check and make sure the sheet is heating evenly. I heat it on a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
On which site you found the extension to load(charge) on esc
What is the thickness of the kydex?
What deck did you use and where did you get the belt drive system (specifically the part that goes into the Kegel wheels)?
It's a Landyachtz Canyon Arrow. The guy I got the pulley from never made any more. It's a 15mm drive setup. I am trying to find another source or might try to make some to sell.
Real helpful video. I have a xt90 loop for my on/off switch and like this solution! Do you have a link to both the mini USB connector and antispark switch?

Barnes'd ahhh thank you sir!
Bad ass. How string do you think your battery box is...say you skate over a speed bump and high-centers and whacks that box. With your weight on it, will it deform and put stress on the batteries inside?
It's pretty sturdy, but I also like to keep as much ground clearance as possible. I haven't hit anything with it.
never forget this board in the sun!!! ;)
What does the sun do?
the black material you used to make the case for the electronics... could it be that it gets soft again when you heat it?
Elias Neururer You have to heat it to 300*+ F to even start to form it. Heat from the sun won't do a thing. They have been using this for years to make holsters and carry those things through a variety of climates and environments.
wow that's some nice material! need that too!!!
Barnes'd what is this material called!
Hey there I'm looking to be doing this but I just have one concern does it crack ? How does it hold up
tech OMG It’s really strong.
Hey nice job! Can you tell me where I can buy those nice gold bolts holding down the compartments?
daytrades4me They are 10-24 brass thumbscrews I got on Amazon. They fit the wood inserts I used.
+Barnes'd Can you post a link where we can buy the wood inserts and the thumb screws? That would be very helpful to us. Thanks!
Joshua B Thumbscrews: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005RTEZU0
Wood Inserts: www.lowes.com/pd/The-Hillman-Group-2-Count-10-Brass-Standard-SAE-Wood-Insert-Lock-Nuts/3012571
I am trying to find better prices on the thumb screws and plan on selling a kit soon.
thanks
What sized sheet did you start with?
Mike Beard 2x4ft sheet I have been cutting pieces off of. Still have left overs.
Where did you buy your Nyko Kama wireless controller?
Amazon. Looks like they've gone up in price.
what mounting bolts did u use? were those woodscrews?
Brass wood inserts with 10-24 screws.
what are those things you screwed in to the board called. the thing you screwed the bolts in
+Aras j Brass wood inserts
thank you
What thickness Kydex are you using?
0.080 inch
Do you have a link to the anti spark switch?
www.ollinboardcompany.com/product/vedder-fechter-anti-spark-switch
Wow! That's expensive, i think I'll build my own...
what is the material you use to do the boxes??
Pedro Del Pino Kydex 0.080" thickness.
Barnes'd Esc?
Pedro Del Pino This is an Ollin VESC.
were did you get the switch
This one is from Ollin Board Company.
Slimy Cilantro on eBay is one
audio sync issue? :(
Where? I try hard to make sure the audio is inline. I don't see a sync issue. Maybe reload?
What are the inserts ?
Brass wood inserts
you should have just vaccum formed it
Emenike ANIGBOGU You should have just given me a vacuum table.
sorry
Emenike ANIGBOGU All good. Making things with what I have and taking the time to share it with others.
what type of battery did you use.
12S lipo
Thats not going to be fine if you ride it on a hot day
Actually it is fine as it needs to be over 200* F to soften. A lot of police sidearm holsters are made from kydex. It's a great material for this.
