Just replaced the rear-facing camera on mine and it's back to 100%. Absolutely cannot believe how well this device performs four years after I bought it.
Nearing my fourth year of owning a Pixel 2 XL now. The phone still performs well even though it's no longer being updated and there's rarely any lag on the phone unless I'm switching apps too quickly or I'm on a web page with a lot of pop ups. Battery wise, gaming and the camera seem to absolutely burn battery nowadays but with battery saving on the phone can last a full day before being charged up in under an hour. I'm looking to upgrade phones now but in comparison to the successive Samsung phones I had before it the Google Pixel 2 XL is definitely going to remain my back up phone.
@Haqimie Battery life is fine, standby time excellent, since it arrived I am at home all the time due to lockdown so extensive usage and Pixel is handling it well..

The 4a has a slightly better camera when it comes to low light exposure and astrophotography ... I had it on my cellular contract for a while. However, I was not at all satisfied with the speakers of the 4a, even if they are loud and have a lot of volume, they sound not so clear as the Pixel 2 XL and the upper speaker also rattles terrible. I have had a Pixel 2XL 'Panda' 128GB model for a few years now, love it, it is a bit battered and bruised now, and the battery is starting to suffer just a bit, so i just had a brand new one delivered today, i just can't be without one, simple as that. A basic budget phone is around £150, i just picked this up brand new for £140, very happy. Does it perform and do everything that i need a smart phone do, simple answer is yes, and it still looks great, even by todays (2022) standards. Is the Pixel 2XL a perfect phone, no, it never was, but bearing in mind it came out in 2017, it still holds up very well even by today's standards, love it. This will probably be the final 2XL that i purchase, so i am going to look after it. I will still use my older phone most of the time, and only bring the new one out for special occasions, lol.
The Pixel 2 XL, is the 1st smartphone that I have kept after the contract ran out, I have had mine for 4 years now, and I don't see me getting rid of it any time soon, this is despite me dropping it and cracking the screen just days after I got it, doh!!! I never rooted mine, for a couple of reasons, banking apps don't work on rooted devices, I know there are workarounds, but you know...and secondly I just can't be arsed with it, I used to love jailbreaking my phones when I used IOS, but I just can't be bothered with it these days, I have plenty other tech to mess around with, I just want my phone to work TBH, so yeah.
I forgot to brag about how truly vibrant and sharp this display is along with Stereo speakers its a joy for video consumption. Edit: screen was fixed in a update years ago. It looks more than solid. Its on par with the amoled from Samsung. It is that Good.
Before watching this vid, I've had my 2 XL for about 4 years now and the only reason I'm looking to upgrade is because of the battery. It's not even that bad, compared to how my Nexus 5 was when I replaced it. However at about 60% battery capacity you can definitely feel the ~4 years.
Loved mine, only issues I had with mine was that it wouldn't charge to 100% so had the devices replaced under the warranty and it still had the same issue.

Just dusted mine off and picked it up. It’s still so attractive to look at and performs great! Side note, I’ve never really been a fan of wireless charging. It never really made sense to me. You have to keep the device on a dock and can’t use it. May as well just keep using the cable🤷🏾♂️
While watching the Pixel 6 launch videos, I've seen this video + several other 2021 Pixel 2 XL videos, and boy it justifies my thinking... I really don't want to give up my Pixel 2 XL. Best phone I've ever owned, and will continue to own, unless the full Pixel 6 Pro reviews really blow me out of the water.
I thought the same. I can't justify the cost of updating yet. My 2xl still does 4-5hrs SOT, I love the fingerprint scanner, front facing stereo speakers, the camera is more than adequate for my needs, that Snapdragon CPU is still a beast, the screen has great resolution, runs everything I do flawlessly. Sure, HDR and a high refresh rate would be nice, security & OS updates would be good, but are those features worth the cost to me? along with losing the fingerprint scanner, front facing speakers, that intrusive camera bar and hole punch in the screen? Not while this beast is still in such good condition!
I get my phone used for 240$ in early 2018. The only bad thing on the Pixel 2 XL is the 'burn-in-effect' of the POLED ... I like the speakers and the performance with the clean OS and with Pixel Experience Custom Rom we can breathe new Life in to this powerful Oldtimer ☺️ I will wait for the release of the Pixel 6 Pro/XL and until it's a bit cheaper ...
This phone is still good. If you can get it in good condition, replace the battery, it's still a great phone for cheap. Excellent value for your money in 2021.

No. Monthly patches are overrated and servers no real purpose. It's just to brainwash the customers in the name of keeping it up to date. But the last A11 firmware released for taimen was unfinished, poor battery backup and all that. I am running Lineage 18.1, it does have its fair share of problems but it's still better than running the official I believe.

Weirdly went for Note 8 over Pixel 2 XL at the time. Regretted the decision ever since tbh. Note 9 still is fantastic.
With Samsung Dex Note 9 is much better than Pixel 2 XL.

Got a Pixel 2 XL backing up my S20 in case it goes down. Pixel 2 XL still running quite well and plenty good enough to use today.

I've had my 2 XL for about 4 years now and the only reason I'm looking to upgrade is because of the battery.
It's not even that bad, compared to how my Nexus 5 was when I replaced it.
However at about 60% battery capacity you can definitely feel the ~4 years.
Take it to a phone shop, buy the battery replacement and have them fix your low percentage battery 🔋

Only 4gb of RAM hurts in 2021 though. Stereo sound video recording would've been nice too. It's super high PPI is a plus though.

I need to look into it but I think I would install LineageOS. Maybe I will do a review at some point soon :)
