Not gonna lie, I personally find the Panda Pixel 2 XL to have the best looking back of any phone I have ever seen. Such a striking device!
@@AppleReviews Yes! So excited!
samsung zflip 3 will use the same design just with extra camera in the back .
@@mitismee Looks like it’s still going to have a two camera setup similar to the original model from what I’ve seen. I do like the renders though with the new camera layout and much larger outer display!
@@cadenchurchill4296 yeah i want to buy one so bad but the pixel 6 pro is just tempting
@@mitismee They’re so hard to choose between!
I still use it, and definitely the best phone I ever had. I know it's time to update but so far I don't find any of the new phones as attractive as my Pixel 2 XL. Maybe the Pixel 6. UPDATE: After 3 months of using the Pixel 6 Pro, I really regret my $ 900 Formost the biometric fingerprint do not works being in the front screen the finger slide and doesn't work every time, the speakers are very bad I can on like that for a lot of wrong thing on this phone but the big problem is that Google does not fix the problems they are already working on the next new phone that what really bugs me, anyways I was a Pixel phone enthusiast, but I think this one will be my last.
Not to mention the speakers. This feels like the last good phone to keep front facing speakers.
Same here
You are not alone ❤️
Go with the pixel 6 because I'm waiting for it as well 👍🏿👌🏿
Yup definitely! Agree...
Watching it on my 2 XL. I really hope Google launches the 6 and 6 Pro/XL here in India
+1, with some indian competed price would be cheery on cake.
How's battery life on your device, I get around 3½ hours SOT
@@uttamkp2009 I don't usually charge my phone to fullest, but whenever I charge it between 100 to 90 and use it till 30 I usually get 4 hrs approx, maybe sometimes 3.30.
@@kunalsharma2098 I'll try it
There's a lot of people I've met that think India is the home of Google.
Yes. Yes it was... It's still my daily, tempted by the 6 Pro but I no longer want to spend £1000 on a phone
Same here, I've just changed mi 2 XL for a Pixel 4, nearly 200us, the battery barely reach the day but beside that I'm very happy
How's battery life so far
@@AppleReviews used?
@@AppleReviews you guys are lucky you can't even get a fully working pixel 3 for 300 dollars in my country
@@AppleReviews India a normal iPhone 12 is like 1100 USD here rn
It was such a well built & designed phone...one of my all time favorites.
Yes it was the best Pixel ever made in my opinion!
@@AppleReviews mine's still in great shape. The only issue is the battery after 3 and a half years
I used a Pixel 2XL up until 7 months ago. Then I got a Galaxy s30 5G. But the 2XL was and still is my favorite phone ever so far.
I have had a cracked 2XL for the past year or two and waiting for someone to come up with a phone as good. It's still slowly falling apart in my hand as we speak...
One thing I fail to understand is how certain features on one device get more praise than on other devices - in particular - EDGE SQUEEZE!
When HTC first introduced EDGE SQUEEZE - most tech bloggers called it "GIMMICKY"
Many phones today took ideas and implementations from HTC and made it their own but people are not ready for that conversation.
@@mmorales508 cant forget LG & the wide angle cam also 🤷🏾♂️
I still find it very gimmicky especially since it can't be remapped without root
I'm still using one, still manages to impress friends with the photos taken. With the symmetrical design and front facing speakers, I too like to think that Pixel peaked in 2 XL. Truly sucks that it won't receive official software updates any more.
The back of the pixel 4 is by far my favorite design on a phone
I wish they would relaunch it but with today's chipset
And a better bezeless screen! Would be sweet
@@anthonyparker1869 if it kept those decent front firing speakers
A second hand pixel 4xl would be a great cheap upgrade if you are looking for a newer pixel phone.
Did that :) just the 90Hz screen and speed are worth it. Face unlock is fun but I do miss the fingerprint scanner.
Had the pixel 4 xl but it was too heavy for me and I missed the fingerprint sensor. Switched back to my pixel 2 xl.
@@MartinSchweigert 4a probably would work for you then
as someone who holds on to their old phones it's gonna be a real sad day when its time to retire my pixel 2 xl to its box the slim feel in the hand inside or outside a case the camera on mine is definitely showing its age but looking back at the photos i took is still captivating to see. As much as I love upgrading every 2 years nothing that has come out since 2017 has made me want to change this phone was a game changer and i hope google can finally bring that back with 6 soon
I hear you. I have the standard Pixel 2 and see no reason to change it at all. Had it since launch and I love it!
"upgraded" to a s20 fe last fall due to the security patches stopping. hopefully the 6 pro/xl is back to form.
Still using my Pixel 2 xl as well. Hoping to pick up the 4a 5g on black Friday for a good deal.
Got my Panda at launch, still using it today. I'm hooked on the 6 and 6 Pro designs, but until those phones are actually out for me to buy, this is 100% peak Pixel. Never regretted getting a 2XL once, and that's good enough for me.
I love my Google Pixel 2xl and it is still rocking and working smooth.
I loved this phone! But I switched to an iPhone after the 🐼 Pixel 2XL, and I’ve been wanting to come back. If the 6 rumors are true I think I’m finally coming back. Great video
Still using ours (partner and I both have them)
Love the stereo front facing speakers too. Really don't understand smart phone designers making such a big deal over screen image quality, then fire the audiio into your fingers of your right hand giving zero stereo and muffled sound. How many high end TV's have you seen with both speakers on the right hand edge firing at the wall.
I feel I'll still be using my 2XL until it breaks as it currently meets all my needs.
Still good for my daily use (not gaming). Never have any issue. I know a lot of people got blue tint or something with the screen but luckily not me. My advice with the battery: don't use "what playing now" cause it unnecessary, and turn off auto-brightness so the sensors don't need to run 24/7.
Thanks for the Pixel 2XL videos. It really deserves to be praised. I get more than 6h of SoT. In terms of performance it is up there with my Samsung S21+. Of course, for more difficult tasks it calls it quits. But for the daily usage, I don't feel a difference. The screen is still great. Mine does not have a serious blue tint. This is my second Pixel 2XL. I bought it recently. New. I am nostalgic, I guess. In most situations I like the screen more than the screen of my S21+. More contrast, deeper black, a bit lacking on the red and of course, no HDR. Anyway, very good device. Flip to shhh, wake for notifications, squeeze for assistant.
I still have it, bought it in 2019. Tried some new Samsung but I always switch back to pixel2xl. Love this device
I still have the device. The issues it had
1) blue tint
2) curved sides which were nightmare for UA-cam browsing due to accidental touches(there is a reason why google never gave another the same sides).
3. 10.5 w slow charging when advertised as 18.
4. Very low peak brightness it was a struggle to use under sunlight
5. My device's white pant started to wear off.
6. USB dongle stopped working
7. Camera stopped working after warranty (hardware issue).
8. Buzzing speakers.
9. Slow down after android 11 update.
10. Black crush.
I have a Pixel 2 XL that now no longer has security updates after 3 brief years (and actually one year after I bought it). My Pixel 2 XL still works perfectly. If I was to buy a supported Pixel 4a then my new phone would be slower than my Pixel 2 XL phone which Google has just obsoleted. I decided that my only sensible option for a replacement phone was an iPhone, which has 7 years of software support.
Awesome look back at the 2XL. Definitely my favourite Pixel of all. Am excited to see the 6Pro when it releases and hope its a return to form by Google.
I still think the first pixel looks great even in 2021 still one of my favourite phones I've used. If they could use that design but modernise it I think you've got a beautiful looking phone on your hands
Definitely. Still using mine and the Pixels that followed was a step backwards. I also love the front facing speakers similar to Xperia 1 iii.
I have had a regular Pixel 2 since 2017 and I haven't felt a need to change phones since then, but it's starting to show its age this year. I did have the battery replaced this summer, and then had my Pixel 2 play dead last month - but it survived. I'm really looking forward to the Pixel 6 Pro... I haven't felt this interested in a new phone in years. I had a Galaxy S3 for over four years before I got my Pixel 2, if that gives you a clue. ❤️
I bought this phone just this September, it is pretty great and reliable.. The Blue shift isn't quite a problem for me since nobody is watching a video or movie at such angle, speakers is quite an advantage since it is a front firing pair, quality is good enough for me. Performance is great even with an old processor but battery is quite average if compared to the latest midrange brands, but its not bad either, 5hrs SOT is quite good for me anyways. Camera is still great.
I'm using the Pixel 2 XL still to this day as my daily. Overtime, the rear camera lens has shattered, the volume rocker fell out and is been held up by tape, and my finger print scanner works only when I restart the phone. I paid over $900 for it and I don't feel like paying so much for a phone again. So I am hoping to get the Pixel 5a in August and get the Pixel 6XL in 2 years time when all the new processor bugs are fixed and the PRICE would have come down when the Pixel 7/8 is out, since I know we'll get 5 years of updates .
i miss this phone, used it for 5 years...
The Kid Cudi song at 3:37 caught my eyes ahaha
nice review, I really liked what they were doing in that era of the Pixels
just got my Pixel 4 XL this year and it's really good for what I use it for
Pixel 1 and 2 series can still be used after flashing pixel experience android 11 rom on them
oh do you have video on how to flash newer version of android to the older pixel ?
I purchased a new one recently and it is used for photography Yes I have an Iphone 8 but I like the pixel 2xl great photos and video plan and keeping it for a long time and for many photos $150.00 new in the box.
Switching from pixel 2 up to pixel 6 pro once its out. I'll miss my 2
I stil have it and use it on a every day basis. Apart from the battery, which gives me 3-4 hours screen on time tops, the phone still works flawlessly.
Just picked up a pixel 3a for £50, running Android 12 beta. Such s great phone for the price and it's so light. Got the official fabric case for it and love it.
While watching the Pixel 6 launch videos, I've seen this video + several other 2021 Pixel 2 XL videos, and boy it justifies my thinking... I really don't want to give up my Pixel 2 XL. Best phone I've ever owned, and will continue to own, unless the full Pixel 6 Pro reviews really blow me out of the water.
My experience with Pixel 2XL is very good. It's still my daily driver and lasts over a day of use. The camera still takes lovely photos that can't be beaten by many phones. Simply haven't found the Pixel devices released since enough of an upgrade to actually upgrade.
Looking forward to seeing what the Pixel 6 lineup has to offer. Perhaps they will be the upgrade I've been waiting for.
Passing on the Pixel 6 as it seems to be plagued with a number of issues. That said, my Pixel 2 XL is still holding up rather well. This is, other than the screen break, but that's my clumsy fault. Had the screen replaced and now I'm back in business. If the phone will last just another year of use I'd be thrilled.
Still my favorite phone, may always be
I love mine but now replacing the battery is pretty much impossible. While I agree that glass is way more fragile you can't deny that unless you are Apple, it makes changing the battery way less of a risk.
I use a smartphone from 2017 ie iPHONE X and it performs and feels much more fast and premium in 2021
My favorite was Nokia 1020 but as soon as I had a pixel 2xl it was in so many ways a great phone from the camera to the stereo speakers and you can watch in 4k it's such a shame Google didn't make anything as good as it
Completely agree about the screen and speaker trade-off. People gave the Pixel 2 so much crap for it's bezels, but I loved the dual front facing speakers and so much. I thought that was an easy trade off and was disappointed that they fell into the pressure to sacrifice it for a better screen to body ratio. I hope they bring it back with the speakers hidden along the edge of the frame. The Pixel 2 blew every phone I ever had before it out of the water - Android AND iOS!
I am hoping the jump from pixel 2 to pixel 6 will be worth it. There is very little incentive to upgrade from 2 to 5 imo.
When I had my pixel 2 xl I really enjoyed it.
i still have the 2xl using it along with my 4xl . love them all even they lack hardware but whatever i can always attach a wide angle lense on them and take wide photo lol.
I've always loved my Pixel 2 XL. The design is timeless and I never cared for the chin vs forehead. The front firing speakers are something I truly miss from my Pixel 5 and I wish that Google will bring that back. Hardware wise, when I switched out to my Pixel 5, the 2 XL still held up really well for me. I didn't feel it slowed down much from since I got it new. Battery life was a concern but I sort of messed up my phone when I tried to replace the battery myself (a component fell off disabling one of the speakers which ultimately forced me to get a replacement Pixel 5). I would love to see the Pixel 2 XL design make a comeback. The 2 XL is the peak Pixel in my opinion.
It's sad, google doesn't support such great device. I have the black n grey one. This one of the best phone I used. It is still with me as a backup phone. I use a 4XL now. It was premium n a great phone.
It has a lots of emotions attached to it.
Still using it as my daily driver. My second phone is an iphone 11 pro max. I really hope the pixel xl 6 is a worthy "successor" of the 2xl
I transitioned from the Pixel 2 XL Panda Edition to an S21+ a few months ago, mainly because the charging port was giving up and I was worried to be left stranded with a non-chargeable device. Would have waited for the Pixel 6 otherwise!
Panda 2 XL still my daily driver. But with it no longer being supported, prob gonna upgrade to the Pixel 6 this fall. Will be nice to finally get upgraded camera hardware
I'm praying they don't get rid of the rear fingerprint scanner
God, I love my panda pixel 2 xl. It's the only phone that I have had that I think looked good enough to get a clear case for it. Unfortunately, recently I got hit with the curse of the "dead" camera, but I am on the hunt for a way to permanently fix it or at least make it more reliably start without having to hold a magnet to the lens.
If tomorrow, google came out with a pixel that was basically the 2xl shell with even slightly upgraded hardware inside, I would buy it immediately, idc what the price is, and I know many people agree with that. The 18:9 aspect ratio on an oled screen, front facing speakers, active edge, aluminum and glass construction, and fingerprint scanner are all pieces of this phone that I would love to see in a new model. I wouldn't even care if a "new" version didn't have wireless charging (I don't really get the point of it anyways, you're still tethered to wherever the cord is).
Until google comes out with a phone that has all (or at least all but one or two) of my aforementioned liked parts about the phone, the 2xl will stay, in my mind, the best phone that google has ever made.
Wallace and Grommet reviewing tech now. I like this career move.
This guy sounds nothing like Wallace lol
I've been using Pixel 2 for almost 4yrs now! I want to upgrade only bcos the 64gb version is not enough but I don't want to miss the front firing speakers 😭
Without doubt, peak Pixel. Watching this video on my Pixel 2XL Panda.
I'm waiting for the 6 and 6 Pro. It's the first time that I've been excited about a phone since that Pixel 2 reveal on stage.
Just hoping that they release the new Pixels in India.
I recently acquired a black pixel 2xl 128gb for free! I work at a place that deals with office supplies and tech, and they recycle electronics for free... I'm talking a mint condition phone since the store is in a very nice area. Talk about a fucking score. I had the panda 2xl years ago and really miss that phone. This will make a nice companion to my 4xl in white. I'm so lucky 😂😭
Watching this on the 2xl😌lol.. besides the occasional cut-offs(which I believe is battery related) the phone still packs a punch.. contemplating between the pixel 5 & 6
Both will have punch hole camera ruining the screen. The only viable options imo are the 3, 3a, 3 xl, 3axl, 4 and 4 xl.
@@jonnypoundland4118 I don't know where this obsession with completely bezeless screens came from, I love dual front facing speakers...
I still have it, use it, and take great pictures from it
Nope, it had terrible quality control issues with the screen and the speakers. Maybe it was the unit I received, but I was so disappointed I bought into it thinking the issues were overblown.
Grain, bad uniformity, blue tint, strange colors, a single dead pixel, and the speakers would rattle at certain frequencies.
All these issues really brought down what could've been a great experience. The Regular Pixel 2 was probably ok with the Samsung display, but that P-OLED display of the time from LG was a mistake.
I also tried some display models at stores, weird colors and changing the profiles didn't help much. And some of them had this reddish hue. Glad I didn't stay with mine.
- from an owner of the Nexus 6, OG Pixel XL, OnePlus 7 Pro.
Upgraded to the pixel 6 pro, but keeping the 2 xl basically as an mp3 player lol.
I'm facing a bug in my device which i purchased a month ago, in landscape mode while i pul the notification panel (status bar) stuck there it doesn't go until i close and reopen the app.
Please help
I still use it...one of the best phone I ever used..I seem the camera quality has come down.
Those bezels are bigger than I remember.
I have a pixel 4xl lots of other Android phones and an iPhone somehow the Pixel 2 XL is still the greatest phone I've ever had
Pixel 6 coming soon and looks like it might be the one to get the Pixel 2 fans excited.
Man I went to check my Pixel 2 XL developer settings and the option to unlock the bootloader is grayed out, turns out is from Verizon...
PAIN
Pixel 2 legacy edition additions;Flat screen 90hz screen, headphone jack, expandable storage, dual sim, 5g and a bigger battery. Add this to Pixel 2 XL and it's the perfect phone.
Still my daily driver. Handful of issues (I was hit with the camera bug, app hangs since Android 11) but it was definitely peak Pixel.
I'm ready for Pixel 6 pro
I loved it, but to be honest my favorite Google phone was the Nexus 6P. I am an avid Pixel fan but I prefer the premium builds and not the current 5 model. Looking forward to the 6PRO because I skipped the the 5.
Definitely. My best phone till date.
Only problem I'm having is the charge port
It was my favourite phone to date
I still use it... It's awesome phone from Google.
Still holding onto mine, I'll upgrade to iphone 14 next year. Though it is showing it's age in terms of Performance
My Panda still my companion until this fall of 2021 !
I still say the Pixel 4 was the best Pixel ever made. I stand by that.
Agreed, if they put an ultra wide and the pixel 5 hole punch display into the pixel 4 xl it would have been perfect.
Just picked up one of these for $50 last week. Love the little guy, but battery sucks when watching UA-cam...
Still use mine for bed time podcast.
Was rocking the 2xl until after one update killed the camera, using pixel 4 but the 6 looks like a great phone if these are the specs
Honestly to me this is really peak pixel. Besides the blue shift it really did have everything going for it. I've been using mine for a long time and its worked just fine. Every iteration that comes out always has a few issues that keep me from upgrading. Nothing has come close to Pixel 2 XL but heres hoping the Pixel 6 can finally close that gap. I need a new phone soon, this battery is bad now lol.
I use a pixel 2 and don't face any display issues...it is amazing...also I never minded the bezels when I am getting a display without the blue tint issue. The only issue I am facing is low speaker volume...I think it got degraded over 3 years of my use.
My friend , do you faced camera issue like camera stop working , because I saw some complains about it?
@@aberathneabe8868 no not at all... everything is working very well. Battery life did reduce down to 3.5 to 4 hrs of SOT after 3.5 years now, and as mentioned speaker has degraded to terribly low volumes. Other than these two things, I am not having any other issues.
Thanks for your honest answer
Just watching this video with my pixel 2xl
Awesome phone but I face 3 things
1)ghost touch when charging and water or sweat hands happens
2) still bugs error on this device google didn't care to fix it .
3) need more ram for background pause like youtube and other apps...
It would be best device since 3xl big notch 4xl didn't release in my country and 4xl battery is so less than 2 and 3 series
Best device with no media disturbance like punch hole notch...
1440p device while 4a 5 5G are 1080p limited
Still have mine
Iconic, a true legend... 🖤🤍
my camera just conked out a couple of days ago. Hardware issue I guess.... worth it to fix? idk man. lol
Pixel 2 user still going strong here! No reason to upgrade yet!
Watching on my Pixel 2 xl.
My next phone will be Pixel 6 pro, as pixel 5 is not available in India.
I really doubt it will launch in India, but lets hope for the best.
I've to purchase 4xl from canada, 5 was also not available..that's my concern.
wish they continued this design......
I still use a 2XL and have no desire to replace it, other than the fact that it's no longer updated for security patches. It's for that reason I'm considering switching to Apple, as it seems they support their phones twice as long, and I hate having to replace perfectly functional hardware. So wasteful...
I don't know where are you from,but I like your accent 🖤
I still use it and currently temporary switch to a 4XL with great regrets. 2XL is peak Pixel.
Now Google is gonna give 4 OS updates. They've almost beaten Apple in that category.
The iPhone 6s/Plus Is seven years old and still receiving updates...
