Thankx for the tip with the lights on the motherboard, i have no lights at all. So most likely a powersupplyproblem as well! Greetings form the netherlands
hi, i plan to change my power supply too since my imac is dead... got to option here.. its made by ICTION (HongKong).. and one is by Delta Electronics... can you suggest which power supply that performs better? Thanks!
Hi. I wish to point out about your explanation that if the second light (power cycle indicator LED) is not turned out, it is automatically a power supply problem. I have had a case recently in an iMac 27, late 2012, where the computer showed the exactly the same symptoms as your iMac, yet with the power supply providing power to the hard drive directly. I note that the hard drive is not directly connected to the power supply, but to the logicboard, where the latter seems to provide power to the hard disk but not to other components like the CPU fan. You can hear the hard disk spinning even when the cycle light indicator is turned off. You can do this by pressing the power button to turn the iMac on. It even turns off when you press the power button again. Would this not contradict your diagnosis that if a cycle light indicator is off means bad power supply? Perhaps you may need to do secondary and tertiary tests to definitively prove that your assertion is correct?
The light on the screen of my imac a1418 was damaged after changing the ssd, I made the mistake of disconnecting the 2 cables from the screen with the imac on, after doing some tests I turned on the screen, I closed it with its adhesives and that's it It does not work anymore, which may be, I have not tried with another screen, it is possible that it burned, or changing the flex of the backlight would solve
I have the exact same problem with mine. I bought a new power supply today and still didn't work. I tried a generic power cable and I have an apple one coming tomorrow.
I am sorry. I posted my comment below without watching the whole video. But I reckon, i already have my answer. My assertion is correct. Please read my comment below. Do, you do need to do secondary and tertiary tests on other parts of the logicboard that regulate and directly serve the system with power.

My iMac went to sleep one day and never woke up again. It was 2 1/2 years old :/
