It’s amazing to me how you, Sorin, can look at a board that may even be unfamiliar to you and identify the components quickly. I suppose it will take me a while to develope such skill. It’s fascinating to watch a master!
I fixed some of those. The drivers are not hard to get. If someone tries to fix it and sees a driver heating up: Check the resistors around the driver. I saw several of them go bad, causing the driver to get stuck in a bootloop. Drivers are fine and handle very high heat, check datasheet. Also be aware that there might be high voltage at one of the pins.
It is the best recording of Adam Smith's theory of utility. I would just like to point out that it is worth a lot here due to the difference in currency. Please do not deprive us of creativity. Complete
7:40 you shuold make a small diagram with pen and paper so people can follow your thinking about how is the rectifier bridge wired and where ur probing and what you're disconnecting when u cut the pins
He has a separate channel with lessons specifically. I also personally recommend MIT's power electronics playlist, it's a university class that is available for free on UA-cam.
The component cost with shipping probably exceeds the cost of the £25 board from Ebay and that's before you charge for time to fix and return post. I would just say thanks for the board, here's where you can buy a replacement. Not worth getting depressed about it - on to the next job 😀
Hi Sorin, good try we must alway try , but really it not make sense repair if a new one is chepaer.... I think customer is better that give you as donor bord otherwise spend more on shipping, bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
3:25 that means....................... what thats mean.................. HAHAHAHA...a good one. I am sure that the imac power supply would have ran away if it had legs after seeing you
that is a classic Apple anti-repair power supply. For 25 bucks don't even take it out of the box just send it back and tell customer to buy another working psu.

Sorin if I’m right the other small transformer is for 330V boost converter
any possible the main Trace inside layers?
Great content. Maybe you can protect yourself from losing money by checking the price on ebay for replacement before you start your repair.
Say hello to my little friend!
That's the reality these days. In many trades, It's often cheaper to buy new than to repair.

Why are these so cheap? The transformer and the inductors worth more than the whole supply together

Hey! Sorin. Sometimes do some stupid things, and teach how to deal with headsinks
Probably cheaper for him to tell you to keep it & just buy another rather than spend more money to send it back to him.
Just unplug it, wait, plug it in, wait, unplug it ....repeat.
I think it will be cheaper for customers even to pay for a back postage and leave the PSU with you.
Well done Sorin nice diagnosis, and you could of ripped him off but you didn’t great business practices 😊
why is died?
Good
this is how i repair stuff like that, look at it, cant figure it out, decide it is cheaper to just buy another one.
drop ship repair 😄
