The defender is a massive vehicle in person, much taller than pics make it look. But the Wagoneer dwarfs it, especially inside for less $$. The Hurricane i6 is also a stronger engine than LR’s mhev i6. For those reasons, I think the Jeep is the better value. Maintenance/repairs/cost of ownership of Jeep will likely be less than Land Rover too.
Thank you! I was torn between the two. Wagoneer is what I’ll go with!
We test drove both and landed on the series 3 wagoneer. Way more room, more comfortable, and the kicker was the captain chairs. Can’t beat that etorque hemi either. We loved our lr3 but hard to beat that wagoneer.
Same thing we us. My wife loved the defender 130 styling and everything but the wagoneer just more practical for a family plus dogs. Cargo space was the deciding factor for us.
Same. We got the 2023 Wagoneer L SIII. We have 5 teens. Soo much room!!!
Easier to find parts for the Jeep. Jeep will be less expensive to repair. RR has more cachet, if that's what you're looking for. And I personally think the design, especially the exterior, is better (though I agree that the 130 looks odd. Too elongated.)
Agreed apart from looks. The 130 has almost exactly the same proportions as the old style Defender 110 wagon. I think the new defender 110 is actually the odd middle child.
Jeep no question. Better reliability, easier access to parts, and it looks better in my opinion.
Ben, you need to invest in a snow brush my friend and clean off that snow from the windshield!😂
The Grand Wagoneer is quite nice. I was taking notice of the interior and the features. The control layout is quite good. Jeep studied the market. They are getting a lot of power out of the new smaller engines. That exposed rivet look does not look good for Land Rover. It would be interesting to see this against Lincoln Navigator L and Cadillac Escalade ESV. You have done that before. Jeep has a winner. Thank you Ben for the review.
80% of Land Rovers built are still on the road. The remaining 20% were able to make it home
I would choose the defender if it came with a v8 engine
I would choose the defender but would opt for the 5 seat standard option on the 130 to get more space to haul gear.
The fact you wouldn't even dare lift the second row seat while sitting in that tiny third row is the logical answer right there. Also, the Wagoneer series III would've been more than suitable for this competition for about 20 grand less. People going full-size suv require interior specs matching a minivan without the minivan lol. The Def, LX, and QX90 are all just large mid-size suvs....
If size doesn't matter I'm going with the defender. I want a better ride for a luxury feel.
Jeep all day
Just my preference, but I'd never spend that kind of cash for an SUV powered by a v6 turbo. Ridiculous! However, drop in a Hemi and I'm all over it!!!!
ben isn't the acoustic glass just laminated glass?
130
I bought the GW3
I vote on Defender 130
16:03 you can’t make your mind.
Love from india 🇮🇳 tajmahal 65km my home
Where are you from
Both have excellent reliability.
Do they?
@@ktpinnacle thats the joke, they are shit on reliability especially that land weight
Uhhhhh
@@NumberOneBlackGuyJeep is good in reliability
This comparison should’ve been about which one is going to break down sooner
Its pretty sad but the only brand jeep could beat in aweful reliablity is Land Rover. All land rovers should be leased and returned after 2 years (if lucky) new models should be a roll of the dice they dont come malfunctioning.
Defender. Every time.
I like the Jeep much, much better. The Land Rover lags behind in all of them, it's big, but it doesn't have a good trunk, the distribution of the seats seems more like a bus than a car, not having two individual seats in the second row of seats, captain type is unfortunate, there are so many seats that there is no sense of space, all the available space is taken up by so many seats, who the hell needs 8 seats??? In the Jeep it's more logical, more fluid, it's big and that's why you have space, you have a good trunk, there's a feeling of space and with seven seats it's more than enough, unless you're a taxi driver.
12:26 why not compare it to the Wagoneer & not Grand Wagoneer.. Defender has 5 trims. It steps into Wagoneer& Grand Wagoneer prices.
Jeep took inspiration from Land Rover? Never heard that one before.
Like the Jeep, since it is a real truck, with a solid frame, just like my Liberty was? The Defender is more of an Suv, like the Compass I own and a unibody construction. Not a fan of the Defender, and or the Compass I own, can't even compare how much better the Liberty was compared to the Compass? I'd go with the Jeep any day of the week, since the Land Rover's are unreliable, and huge money pits?
I clicked out when I saw you were too lazy to clean the snow off the Wagoneer
the 130 can be ordered with out the 3rd row looks better than the grand wagoneer
Defender
I have a Grand Wagoneer and love the thing but why you would pair this Land Rover with a grand wagoneer?...I wouldn't even have had that thing on my short list. No offense but not the same vehicles in comparison.
He did a poll on what car he should compare it too and the GW won
The Defender 130 is sooooooo ugly I would rather walk than drive one
I feel the same about the Grand Waganeer but not about the normal version. I think the chrome trim around the frameless door windows makes it look odd/out of proportion. The normal Wagoneer doesn’t have the chrome trim.
The defender looks toyish like a hummer with the “utilitarian” look. In my opinion the jeeps interior will stand the test of time in years if the electronics hold up. Think back to those late 80’s and early 90’s Mercedes Benz. They still look premium.
Mr. Hardy actually if you researched the history back in 1941 I believe was the date that was when Land Rover approach Jeep and they use a Jeep platform to start their company so it is jeep that started Land Rover not the other way around
