    Magical place the Mennock love it there although hard going for the gold the views, scenery and just being able to camp up next to the water make it very special. 🌟👍 Great video mate.

    Love your videos. I recently got a permit for Elvan water ( the other side of Leadhills). Have you ever tried it ?

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi Ian and thanks for the comments, There's gold throughout the area and the history behind that particular part of Leadhills is fascinating. Especially around the Cluech named burns. The old timers used Hydraulic mining process to excavate the top soils and earth to see what the bedrock held.
      They did very very well out of it.
      I have met local prospectors who can keep on going back to certain spots and they too have found nuggets and specimens but stuff like this doesn't happen in a day. It's a long drawn out process to get down the river's cracks and crevices.
      Let me know how you get on and best of luck my friend

    Avon skin so soft use in a spray bottle for midgy repellant,it's cheaper than named repellents and it's what is used by some locals

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes James, you're spot on there. I've heard many people talk about Skin so soft at the river.
      I'm sure there's an Avon Agent round the corner from us who my Missus has just found out about.
      I used to talk to a well known panner in Wales and either he didn't get bit by them or just dismissed their existence and carried on regardless whereas I couldn't stand still without hitting the back of my neck or my arms every 30 seconds 😩🙂

    I thought you weren't allowed to use a sluice? I may be wrong but was just reading the policies online and I'm almost certain it said sluices were forbidden. Can you clear this up for me please?

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  2 місяці тому +2

      As far as I am aware, the estate did stop the use of sluices a few years ago but then they relaxed this.
      Ironically the Museum which sells permits also sells sluices.
      Hope this helps

      Hi Geoff, I think I need some inspiration too, I 've been panning the gravels in Scotland all week and the weather's not played it's part !.
      30 deg C everywhere else but here it's been far from it.
      I've got to make a series of videos for the gold panning enthusiasts and community and then rest assured I will be back on the cycling videos again.
      Thanks for asking though. I hope you are enjoying your cycling buddy.
