I don't think Reeve was a Christian or a God fearing man, so I doubt that he's in heaven.....He was a loopy actor that was a HUMANIST.......Most of hollywood is going to hell......
To quote REEVE: Well, believe it or not, I think that, y'know, God is not an entity that you find when you go to church and pray to God almighty, you know, and I always remembered that going to church as a kid, you know, and they talk about the vengeance of His terrible swift sword and His army, I said, "well that's kind of a scary guy." But I think that -- while I don't believe in God, per se, I believe in spirituality. And I believe that spirituality actually is automatically within ourselves, but we have to learn how to access it, and what that is, is realizing there is a higher power; there is..........Then went on to say.....more than just us, there is an inner strength, there is something, y'know, that comes from -- I don't know where exactly it comes from, but it's -- it really is the best that humans can be and perhaps what it is -- perhaps really what it is love....
So he give zero credit to God/Jesus and just talks about some inner human strength, which he calls spirituality and love, but NEVER gives God the glory or Jesus the source of his salvation or beliefs............again----a HUMANIST is not going to heaven, and HOLLYWOOD is full of those types.....
Jesus said that IF you deny me before men, that he will deny you before the Father.......

I always tear up when I hear this theme, when it's done right like in this case, not because it reminds me of the tragic end to Christopher Reeve but because of the raw power it contains to move you. Can you imagine what it was like for me, an 11 year old kid, sitting there in the dark watching those titles zoom towards the screen? I wish I could go back in time and watch this movie all over again for the first time to experience that feeling again, or at least sit behind my 11 year old self and enjoy that initial reaction. Good times! (And only one year after Star Wars equally blew my mind).

This music would of made Man of Steel better but the movie was to dark. Superman symbolizes hope among other things. Not insecurity. The movie was crippled before it was even made. A dark Superman movie could work but not with Superman himself being down and gloomy or having lost hope or being insecure. He is supposed to symbolize the opposite of those things. He should inspire people, not sit at the kitchen table wondering if he should be a hero... well that's my opinion anyways.

@@leopold3197 seriously? mate I grew up watching those superman movies. They were cheesy. Besides the first Reeves superman movie and the 80’s Michael Keaton batman movies which were average at best, the rest of DC movies were unwatchable.
Marvel have only just been successful the last decade you say, the Tobey maguire Spider-Man movies, at least 1 and 2 were very good and predates the M-SHe-U. Blade 1 and 2 predates the MCU and it was awesome. Oh let’s not forget the X-men movies.
So please spare me the marvel has been great only the past decade malarkey.

I am the same way, at 43. I think what it comes down to is this - this theme embodies everything great about Superman. And the thing about Superman is that he represents the very best that we can be - and it's not his powers, it's his heart and humility. We all want to feel that way - that we can make the world better. And this theme brings it out in all of us. We feel empowered by it. I did as a child and I do to this day!

Saw this movie when I was 11yrs old in Manhattan on opening night, my older sister and her boyfriend took me and my younger brother and sister to go see it. At the time my parents were divorced and just myself and younger siblings were living with my mom and her boyfriend, he was a very abusive person. I always wanted to be Superman, I was always drawn to his good nature. When Superman caught the helicopter the entire theatre stood up and cheered, it was Amazing!!! Every time I hear the beginning of this song I also tear up and get goosebumps. Never forget that night that night!!!

You are NOT alone, Chris. Since the first time (of many) I saw it in theaters as a kid, nothing stirs my soul like this piece. Not Star Wars, not Indiana Jones. Not the haunting themes in Alien or the martial rush of its sequel. Not Hogwarts nor Narnia nor even Lord of the Rings. Not Halloween, Jurassic Park, or even the many anthems of Bond. THIS is the sound of my endless childhood.

I saw this movie in 1978. Lines were wrapping around the PARK theater when I finally entered. My friend bought the popcorn and I had the raisinettes. The lights dimmed and I soon heard that theme. I was in total awe. My mind kept repeating the tag line: "You'll believe a man can fly". I was NOT disappointed. Exited the theater. Sun was shining. It was a VERY good day.

Brad Underwood Brad- your childhood intuition was true, we are very close to flying like Superman, it’s just a matter of time before we develop this technology to the point where it fits inside a skintight suit… Just look at how small we shrunk the computer since this movie was first released… Remember, if you can imagine it, dream it, that means it exists somewhere in some other reality we just haven’t discovered it yet!
