Great episode! Tanktop is such ear candy with his smooth, patient explanations of why this works like that. As a side note I have an idea: Cerberus +1 has been woefully underused for ages. It has weird range, poor TTK and revolves around “inconsistencies as a feature”. What if we fixed what was bad in a chaotic way? Add Cascade Point on mode swap to it to make it the wave of bullets it is supposed to be, but for a short duration and with a moment’s setup.
I personally use blink on hunter and warlock in PvE in addition to PvP. It is awesome for moving quickly when doing timed objectives, however, it really sucks when you have a cooldown after 2 blinks, and you can’t jump.
Glad to hear the thought process behind balancing Aggressive SMGs with how they ship stat wise and where they've experimented, I think it's really cool and it's nice to think that they take a look at all under performing weapon categories and potentially look at ways to have them reach a level of useability. Love hearing thought processes behind how you guys look at the game from your POV as devs (even if we are getting a more simplified version). However... @13:33 "I dont think anyone expected half a million people to play trials for the SMG" I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I just dont get under this line of thinking. Fellas always appreciate the great podcast with great hosts, guests, and questions... Kudos! Thanks to the guests from Bungie for taking the time. Just putting my two cents out there.... as player and fan of the game and DCP Live & Firing Range. My wish for abilities change would be across the board to move/add/re-assign movement abilities to all class abilities kit. Specifically with the existing Warlock Icarus Dash & Titan Thruster, but Hunters would need a third dodge like acrobat. Then speed animation for barricade but lower damage resistance and up-time so it is used more for quick blocks. Speed Rift cast as well but balance to lower duration and possibly healing/recovery or damage activation, so it is used for burst cases. Each class would have movement access regardless of subclass. Balance should be set to increase CA use with short universal cooldown times to include the alternative options across the board. obviously, this would take considerations to certain exotics and game mechanics since the suggested barricade and rift changes would be balance to a burst or quick action or short benefit type. Barricades would get destroyed even quicker but with a much quicker animation it would allow a skill to learning of using during a gun fight. Similar concept with the warlock and rift, quicker cast animation and low duration for healing but quick recovery start. Balance example warlock pops rift mid gun fight without moving for cover and received only enough benefit to require the opposing player to put in an extra head or body shot. I’d imagine these would be a net positive for balancing around the current state of class abilities. Except Icarus Dash to Blink... good luck with that lol.
The barricade can be nerfed by changing the way you gain info while near it. Once it's damaged a little bit, it gets cracked, making it harder to see things far away, but it's easy to see things close to it. Cant just camp free peeking lanes since people will be able to see you, but you won't be able to see them.

I know they mentioned this in an article when they were buffing PvE weapons. They said that they would be looking more into that throughout this year to make sure that every weapon was viable. I wished for this episode or at least in the future if someone at Bungie comes on again is for you guys to ask, what they are doing for primary weapons to buff them more in PVE?
Only 20 minutes in but I really hope to hear something related to high impact pulses being way too strong if they wanna nerf the 0.67 ttk of smgs (the only difference between them as far as numbers are concerned is that high impact pulses hit the same ttk from around triple the distance and don’t require 6 heads of using headseeker and/or against slightly lower resilience
I would be ok with titan barricades if the other class abilities were comparable. Dodge provides no immunity and rift is useless outside of providing minions
I feel like this is an exotic you love and wanna use elsewhere but believe it or not it's pretty strong in PvP if you can play around it well and I'm not just talking about stacking crystal damage resistance, heir apparent, and icefall. I think it only gets better with them buffing the behemoth melee too. yea you move slower but it's a stronger oversheild than void so you can be in the fight more actively and if you need a quick 100 health it's there. I feel like it's strong in a way that forces you to think instead of just put on the exotic and win and more if not all exotics should make you think instead of just immediately making things easier. Ironically enough despite all the whining about the stompees nerf they're out with a vengeance with the new exotic auto in trials this weekend and it is ridiculously oppressive.
So I'm only seeing this vid now and I had to stop mid way through just to put this message out. The discussion of grav Lance and it's apparently not breaking anything as merc says... yeah uhhh huh dude Really thinks that grav Lance ain't breaking anything. If someone next to me dies by it, guess what I either die by it or get a nice 1% health surprise. I would love to tell merc myself he is out of touch and has no clue what he's talking about.
14:24 "We were okay with the gun going out strong... if the only people who were going to be able to have it were the super dedicated PvP players." I think this mindset needs to die. It's caused nothing but problems. Either you have a comically overpowered gun that only a few people have, and they just get to be numerically stronger *in addition* presumably being better players because they play more, which discourages other players, or you have a comically overpowered gun that *everyone* has, which is just a tedious mess for all involved and drastically limits player expression. "It's okay if something is unbalanced if it's rare" has never felt good for any variation of "unbalanced" or "rare."
Hunters need huge buffs, they should be much faster than the other classes, there sprint should be 2x faster then the other classes. Titans shields and Shoulder charge are to strong, the shield should break after a couple primary shots. Hunter dodge maybe helps you avoid one shot, but the shield helps you avoid 3 mags from high impact pulse, that's way to much. Should charge should completely deplete after use. Or let the classes melee abilities only run down 14% if misses.

This game is 90 Abilities - 10 Weapons. What about the 40-60 we were promised ? If you do not ask the abilities guy about that, really what would you ask ?
Yet I can’t hit a hunter with my special weapon or primary when they dodge and they have multiple ways to go invis. Nerf invis and those solar gauntlets and then you can nerf titan barricades…again. Tired of this discussion. Hunters won’t be happy unless they are the only class in the game. If anything, rifts and barricades need to be sped up. The timing it takes to place compared to the dodge and invis is way too long
Sounds like bungo got the “class envy” they wanted lmfao On a serious note, smart use of rifts and barricades are ridiculously strong, you just can’t be braindead and expect the abilities to carry you, same goes for hunter, the only difference being that dodge is much worse at holding a lane or securing a gunfight, it’s more for getting out alive even if you don’t kill (or getting a melee back depending on where and how it’s used)
@@nathanflinchum1153 Hunters have a distinct advantage in none objective games like elim as they have a "get out of jail free move" that is available every 12 seconds or so. I feel like the majority of his responses to poignant criticism of was, “we’ll keep it in mind” or “I don’t want to do that.” Feels to me like he is someone who causes the PvP sandbox to suffer because of his lack of consideration for both sandboxes.
I could see where you are coming from, but to me it feels more like he doesn’t want to make a lot of solid statements about certain abilities and how they should/will be changed in the future. I would think this is due to not wanting a group of people who main a certain class to feel alienated about the ability lead designer’s opinions on their favorite abilities in the game, but also that it seems in the past that bungies’ ability changes have often seemed to be too much of a nerf/buff, and they want to approach things from a new way where they change abilities in a different and unique way, rather than a hard buff/nerf, which is why they would say they don’t want to redo changed or make massive changes right away
my perfect exotic would be a rapid fire solar shotgun with explosive payload and incandescent and since they already dont one shot itd be really nice in pve and not horrible in pvp
@@advancegeo2986 I'd want something that that rewards and demands you to stand dangerously close to a boss and holding down on the trigger. Void, deals bonus damage and heals you on hit when you have devour, Grant's favour on landing every pellet for a second or two.
Hey guys loved the episode, great job. I would like to throw in for whenever someone on the weapons team can talk about weapon mods. They haven't really been updated in a long time, and they feel really underwhelming in PvE, compared to PvP.
That interesting blink offer is cool for hunter blink only to differentiate tho i know they like consistency of feel… it would be consistent with other other jumps
I really think the warlock aspect is going to be a nothing burger. In scenarios where I'd have to use a shackle grenade it would take way too much setup on top of the 15 second cooldown to be useful. Also the delayed explosion means even if you were holding one while a champ is pushing you they could kill you before the tangle goes off. Every other scenario I can think of I just wouldn't need suspension. I wouldn't use a shackle grenade against red bars under normal circumstances so why would I give up an aspect for that? I understand that this is a potentially good tool but I expected something different and cool to use. Something different functionally like how we have a stasis turret and diamond lance. Those are completely different interactions than typical game mechanics vs. Your tangle will mostly be the same but could also potentially get you killed in endgame. As useless in endgame as the titan and hunter aspects will be, at least they're unique and different/fun looking for casual play.
Glad to hear the developer stand up for Titans. Really tired of the “titans bad” echo chamber going on through the socials. How about we give your dodge a 1.5 minute cool down, or rift last less time. Doesn’t sound good does it ?

I would think this is due to not wanting a group of people who main a certain class to feel alienated about the ability lead designer’s opinions on their favorite abilities in the game, but also that it seems in the past that bungies’ ability changes have often seemed to be too much of a nerf/buff, and they want to approach things from a new way where they change abilities in a different and unique way, rather than a hard buff/nerf, which is why they would say they don’t want to redo changed or make massive changes right away
Hope rapid fire shotguns get buffed someday
my perfect exotic would be a rapid fire solar shotgun with explosive payload and incandescent and since they already dont one shot itd be really nice in pve and not horrible in pvp
Badass as usual
Insert “You serious?” Jonah Jameson clip.
@@IAmAlteringTheDeal this podcast is an anti Titan echo chamber, I don't believe I have ever heard someone whine like Drew or Cammy, I've loved Cammy for ages but he's been insufferable as of late.
@@parcelofstardust3382 100% a biased titan main if you think arc and void titan are okay.
@@IAmAlteringTheDeal when did I say that I think striker is okay...
Yeah f that we need a rift nerf less up time less healing and a dodge nerf less range longer cooldown cause wtf
What if that strand aspect theyre thinking of is a titan grapple augment that makes it pull targets towards you when attached to the target. Basically making a target grapple towards you. Thatd seem like an obvious dantasy they havent touched yet and is something too spicy for two slots.
Can we get some warlock representation lol
I hope vex gets the ar range buff
It's time for julton also...it's time..
You guys litterally & weirdly, on your last episode called out 1/3rd of you viewers and unanimously agreed "war on Titans".
The show should get a Titan and have a debate instead of a one sided boring monologue on nerfing titans.
100% agree, I am getting sick of this bias, they are going to lose a third of their listeners at this rate.
@@peanutpresenting9337 Yes, It's fine if they want to support thier favourite class, but since it's a job for them, & thier litterally talking into the developers ear I expected them to leave some of that at the door, or at least present a two sided debate.
It’s hilarious they only focus on our op things and never theirs
I'm a Titan main and I agree that Striker and Sentinel are too strong. They're not alienating me
Uh the abilities guy from Bungie said Striker is the best subclass in the game in PvP.
bastion is going to be so much more broken......
Not really... 1 extra fragment isn't going to majorly rework the barricade. Sweet, now I can crouch walk faster...
Gee, even Merc knows controller players are at a disadvantage.
NTTE is si hard to get 3rd burst.
And now Rapids get a nerf?
And does Bungo see how many guardians on last gen consoles can't compete?
Bad Juju meta incoming.
Nevermind. It's still trash.
Barricades definitely need to take less shots to break. Arc titans with knockout and barricades just dominate objective game modes
Always tickles me to see Destiny PVP discussed in detail like it's something of worth.
Bungie don't care.
Fr it’s mostly a playground
Barricade should not do damage to other players. It offers invincibility (As long as you're hiding behind it), a free line of site without worrying about getting shot, And it's essentially a weapon. It's amazing to me that bungie always goes after Hunter's and their dodge but never, meaningfully, touch the other class abilities.
its called punishing w key players
Cammy coming in hot lol.
