Fun fact Empire Strikes Back was the first film in the series to be numbered. In the opening Credits it was stated as "Episode V" which at the time would've no doubt confused alot of viewers going from simply "Star Wars" to "Episode V The Empire Strikes Back" in the opening crawl. A year after Empire Strikes Back they added the subtitle Episode IV - A New Hope to Star Wars (1977) and then Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) release, by Return of the Jedi people had the understanding that Lucas planned to release a prequal trilogy with Ep l, ll, and lll we just had no idea when this would happen. Then in the 1990s we had the Extended Universe of novels starting with Heir to the Empire that were set after the films. We also had novels like Tales of the Jedi that explored the origins of the Jedi/Sith set thousands of years before the films. One way to tell if you’re watching an original version of the original trilogy is if there’s an episode number at the start of the crawl. Originally there were no episode numbers and the first Star Wars made was just called “Star Wars” until 1981 when Lucas was thinking about Empire Strikes Back and added “A New Hope” to the first one. Then in 1997 when they released the “special edition” they added episode numbers to the crawl. Interestingly enough Lucasfilm has now removed the episode numbers from the titles on their site. 6:56 Han put Luke inside the TaunTaun while he was getting a shelter setup he had in his pack then moved into the shelter for the night. 7:08 they gave Luke that accident to make an excuse for Mark Hamill’s face. He was in an accident and had to have plastic surgery to fix his face. If you look at him in a New Hope vs Empire Strikes Back you’ll see a pretty decent change in appearance. 11:45 the second seat is a gunners seat for the rear weapons. 18:34 the whole Baby Yoda thing happens later in the series and it’s only because Lucas never gave Yoda’s species a name and Lucasfilm is keeping with that and not giving the species a name. 20:39 Yoda is testing Luke to see if he can handle the training or if he will follow the dark side and take the easy path. 28:19 at first it depended on how your body could connect to the force after Episode 1 it started being how many midichlorians you have in your blood. 31:58 I saw an interview with Anthony Daniels(3PO) and he was asked about this scene. They put the mask on backwards on his head. The only problem was the mask/helmet was so snug his nose wouldn’t fit in the back part so they had to cut a hole for his nose and put something on his nose to match the gold color. If you pause when he turns his head you can actually see his nose sticking out the back of the head. 34:20 the “I know” part was done cause Harrison Ford said that it seemed like something Han would say. Not many realized that Han was in a different position when he came out of carbon freeze. 39:37 no one on set knew this when it was filmed. Lucas told Mark Hamill how to respond to what the David Prowse( who was in the Vader suit) said then James Earl Jones read it later when recording the lines. Such a great reveal. It’s so hard to do that these days. They were able to with The Mandalorian series. 44:08 a reason for not telling Luke about Vader being his father was that it would be harder for Luke to face Vader and defeat him.
Vadar may get beat a lil bit he's like an unstoppable force he's slow and steady, its part of what makes him terrifying as he hunted the rest of the jedi
It's surreal watching someone who genuinely has no idea about anything with Star Wars because I genuinely can't remember a time when I didn't know Darth Vader was Luke's father.
6:29 Family Guy makes fun of that scene in their parody of the original trilogy! They fit like 8-10 breaths between "I thought they smelled bad" and "on the outside"! 😂😂

Looking forward to your next reaction. Salutations from Romania …

There's an adorable detail during one of the Lego Star Wars games where while you're on Dagobah, Luke can't use the force unless Yoda is on him As if he's helping nudge him the whole way
1. Han to Chewy, "Laugh it ups fuzzball"🤣 2. The scene in the cave is Luke seeing into his future if he were to turn to the dark side. 3. Do them in the original release. They were put that way for a reason. Jumping ahead ruins it for you and us. 4. IRL Ford and Fisher were having an affair. She was only 19 and he was much older and married. She put it in her biography before she died. She got an ok from him to put it in there. 5. Hans', "I know" was ad lib and required a new script to be written in the next movie. 6. You will learn more about the emperor and Darth Vader in episodes I, II and III. 7. The next one wraps everything up and IMVHO is the best of the original VI Lucas episodes.
I would have l;oved to have seen this in theathers when it was released. That crowd reaction when Vader revealed that he was Luke's dad had to have been crazy. Like unimaginable.
6:15 Hey Don! Do you know the internal body temperature of a Tauntaun? Luke warm. 😏 Edit: Also, they survived because Han said "This may smell bad, kid, but it’ll keep you warm until I get the shelter up…"
I like that this guy understands the real threat of The Empire. Most people see Landon betrayed Han and totally busty his chops. They don't understand that when Boba Fett told Vader where to go and Vader showed up with the full Might of the Imperial Navy, they weren't going to let Landon say no. Vader would eff Landi up and catch Them anyhow. Landon really had no viable choices.
Just thought u should know Luke when he fell and survived he used the Force to slow his fall and angle himself in one of the things and obviously that led him to being outside
The actor Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker got into a skiing accident during filming this movie. The scars he got at the start of the movie are real...
The force allows you to do a lot of things; Such as pushing, pulling, jumping, running, seeing the future, persuading, choking, shooting lightning, but it isn't a magic carpet. 'Why don't they make more ships to fly, so they don't need to use two seats?' Two seated fighters have their place in combat as well. It is difficult when a fighter pilot has to do it all. A pilot is more effective when they can focus on flying. Likewise, the second person on the ship can focus on combat. 'Anyone can use the force?' Not anyone. Before the Jedi were eradicated, there was an ongoing effort to recruit children that were force sensitive to the Jedi temple. Lando Calrissian betrayed Han and Leia because he was doing his administrative duty protecting Cloud City. When Darth Vader appeared in the conference room, the person standing behind him in the green armor was a bounty hunter named Boba Fett. The reason Darth Vader knew where they were was because Boba Fett followed them from the junk pile around the Star Destroyer. Boba Fett was following Han because he is trying to collect the bounty placed on Han Solo's head by Jabba the Hutt. Boba Fett had an agreement with Darth Vader to find them and turn them over to the Empire. Once he did, he would be free to take Han Solo and go to Jabba the Hutt. 'Not gonna lie, he should be dead. There's no way he could fall from that high and somehow land in that hole.' There are other examples of Jedi controlling and directing their falls with the force. I can't go into it now because it is a spoiler, but there is one example in particular that proves this point. If you look closely in the scene, you can see Luke realizing that he can jump and hit that hole.
I just got done watching another UA-camr do something like this and i was sad they had gotten all through it. Idk if it reminds me of when i first watched and experienced these films but i absolutely love seeing people react to some of my favorite movies and shows for the first time. I guess it recaptures that magic i felt when i first watched them.
Honestly, I would have been like, alright dad, yeah you just chopped off my arm, but sure let’s go compete my training so we can rule as father and son.
1:00 Mark Hamill was in some kind of motorcycle accident that gave him some facial scars, and this was, at least partially, put in there to help give an in-universe explanation for them.
the scene where luke uses the cable to take down the at-at walker legs is referenced in captain america civil war when spiderman suggested to do the same thing against antman when he went big.
“Why is Anakin Skywalker that way” is the story of episodes 1, 2, and 3. Original Trilogy Fans had to wait 14-20 years for the answer to that question. Rogue One is a masterpiece. Hope you enjoy the journey. Getting you caught up through all the extra SW lore will be tons of content :)
I’m not gonna lie I lost faith in you continuing the Star Wars reactions a while ago, but thank you so much for this, it’s my favorite movie series OAT!
Force users can use the Force to manipulate objects including their own body. That's how Luke could jump so high or direct his falling body into a maintenance duct.
Okay, I learned something new. With the captions on I finally saw that it is Cpt. Needa not Cpt. Neider as I have thought for 43 years now. Ah, it was glorious watching you break when Leia told Han she loved him. You were shipping Luke and Leia so hard. I would speculate that Luke sort of "Force braked" his fall and also guided him to the vent shaft or whatever it was.
There's a recommended viewing order to the Star Wars movies called 'The Machete Order', where someone watches 4 and 5, then goes 1, 2, and 3 (they say to skip 1 but I still say include it) Because now that you know who Vader is in relation to Luke, you can go back and learn context for who he is and why he's like this, and only THEN do you watch episode 6, which is like a conclusion to both. For your first time, I think you'd like it, and I can't remember the last time I saw a reactor on YT do the Machete Order, so it'd probably be especially popular.
The Force can refer to both the Cosmic (Balance/Global Economy) Force, and the Living (Evolving/Individual) Force. The Jedi and the Sith are two schools, with specific patterns, social hierachies and "spellbooks", light, and dark, respectively. Both of them make effective use of lightsabers, by applying them with the Force, however since the Sith Brotherhood (~4000 BBY) Sith prefer only red, as most Dark Side users do. They operate on living Kyber crystals, that the Sith will torture until they bleed and glow red. Normally, they are almost always colorless, until they resonate and imprint with a soul. Since the High Republic era (~400 BBY) the Jedi Order has been in nominal operation, it has a gatekeeping effect (easier to learn the Light Side the Jedi way, harder in other patterns) Most Jedi are Guardians and most use Guardian lightsabers (Blue or Blue/Teal), they focus on saber mastery and fighting the Sith. Most Teal sabers are a bending effect on a blue. Especially the true teal are associated with physicality, endurance, acrobatics, survivability. Many are Jedi Consulars, usually using a Consular lightsaber (Green), which has a focus on meditation, Living Force and Nature. (varies with time period and magic patterns). Acid sabers are very rare. One rumour says they're anti-blue and anti-saber in general. Templar Guardians wield yellow lightpikes, associated with insight, ingenuity, craftsmanship, research, history and ritual magic. (varies with time period and magic patterns). Orange is rare, and many are made from Fool's Kyber, which usually doesn't really work. We don't know much about the real ones. Purple is slightly more difficult to master, and is really best used for mixing more schools of magic together. White are red crystals that have been healed. They have been used with healing magic, but are most associated with the Cosmic Force and the World-Between-Worlds. Since Darth Bane, the SIth have followed the Rule of Two, to consolidate their power in 2 people, slightly weakening other Dark Side users (when the Cosmic Force is balanced) Both good and bad Whills of the Force (god particles) are required to create life. When there are too many of either in the Cosmic Force, the Dark Side takes over in the galaxy. They work through midi-chlorians, a symbiotic, microscopic lifeform. Normal humans have a midi-chlorian count of around 2000. That's nothing. Force-sensitives can have up to 7000 in rare cases. Most Jedi have a bit more than Sith normally, in the 10-12k r. Outliers like Anakin and Yoda over 20k. Imbalance in the Force causes Anakin and Luke to happen, Balance (and heroic legends) cause Rey & Kylo to happen.
By the end of this reaction you fully convinced me that Leia is a two timer. I was tryin' to justify it at the start, like she and Luke were never a thing, she just gave him a kiss after he almost died (mainly just to piss off Han), but yeah, she fully was with Han, even said "I love you," and they all know Han survived the freeze, so he's not dead yet...and sure enough she's kissing Luke as soon as he's back like...ok lol Still not as bad as Mary Jane from the og Spiderman movies
44:01 Luke were not ready for the truth as a reckless, impulsive farmer boy. In reality there were not even a sequel planned when Ben told the story of Lukes father. The idea of Vader being Anakin was very secret. Only George Lucas and Mark Hamill/Luke knew it at that time. David Prowse who act as Vader had another script where it was said that Vader killed Luke's father. Inn Luke's script the reactions you see in the movie were included, so in the end it was only George, Mark and of course uncle Mufasa, James Earl Jones that made Vader's voice that knew about the father twist.
"Somebody told me this is good (Ahsoka) but I don't know when to watch that" - The correct answer is AFTER you watch The Clone Wars animated movie (her introduction) & series, and the animated series Rebels, Ahsoka is pretty much season 5 of Rebels
28:15 In the Star Wars university you have to be force sensitive, like psychists/mediums have a spiritual gift. You begin your training as a Padawan at 8, 9 years old. In real life you can join the Force academy online and study. You study online and in physical books, each book is around 11 dollars on Amazon so not that much. I discovered it after reading an article about a girl in South Carolina that studied for 12 years at the academy and now could call herself a Jedi master. And she did evolve her mental powers, sharpening all her senses to be more aware of her surroundings.
The Empire Strikes Back simply put is a story about a man trying to fix his ride, so he can be fiscally responsible and pay off his loan before it defaults.
Make sure you watch Rogue One. It happens in between episodes 3 and 4 in the timeline but it doesn’t spoil anything in the prequels so watch it whenever. Really good.
this and the next one are my absolute favorite star wars movies they did 3 than 20 years till the next 3 and then almost 20 years again till the next 3 haha
Vader appeared in the cave because Luke brought his weapons. If he not had brought his weapons Vader would not have appeared. Yoda even told him he didn't need the weapons, but he didn't listen.
SO cool star wars is literally my favorite series of movies ever. thanks alot fo watching it i've been waiting for this video for so long, but please watch ninjago season 2 aswell bro its so good
40:27 I'm pretty sure it was either Vader or Luke that caused him to move like that. Due to Luke's condition, I'd imagine it was Vader, still wanting Luke alive for another chance at turning him to the dark side in the future.
Fun fact, the reason Luke was attacked by the Wampa was to explain why Mark Hamill (Luke) had scars on his face which weren't there in A New Hope! The reason Mark had scars was because he was in a motor accident between filming the two films. Another fun fact the line when Leia says "I love you" Han's rizz reply of "I know" wasn't in the script, Harrison Ford made it up in the spur of the moment. Episodes 7, 8 and 9 completely ruin the story, most fans only acknowledge episode 1-6 plus Rogue One. Ahsoka was meh as a show, which is a shame because the character is pretty dope. You'd be better off watching the Clone Wars then Rebels animated shows then Rogue One as The clone Wars happens between Attack of the Clones (ep.2) and Revenge of the Sith (Ep.3). Rogue One happens literally leading up to A new Hope.

Luke was just hanging around in the cave with the Yetti (Wampa). 🤣
A man of culture. My siblings and I used to constantly laugh at how close Vader was to General Veers’ face 😂😂
What I think is crazy is that two reaction channels that I watch(Being this channel and Alex Hefner(?)) are both watching The Empire Strikes Back for the first time ever nearly or on the same day(or at least was uploaded) I love watching how different people react to movies for the first time! 😊
I can't explain to you how excited i am for episode 6 and the prequal trilogy
That was a great reaction! Thank you!
In the next one (Return Of The Jedi) you’ll have my most favorite line of all the movies I ever watched in my entire life. I’ll reveal it after you react to that one too. Just follow the story itself and have patience, all your questions will be answered. You just took your first step into a larger world - WELCOME … and the Force is getting stronger with you … I can tell from your wise decision to watch these incredible movies in their release order. You decided to watch a great saga, so great that it earned its own worldwide celebration day, which is May 4th, that is May the fourth - like in “May The Force (be with you)”. Looking forward to your next reaction.
Salutations from Romania …
Salut frate. Which is your favorite line from Return of the Jedi? Sa ai o zi binecuvantata
@@tonyilias2561 Thanks for your comment.
I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll reveal it after Don’s reaction to ep. 6 (as I promised).
If you’ll watch his reaction first, just post another comment so I can be notified, tune in and watch it too.
Thanks again and have a lovely day …
Salutations from Romania …
There's an adorable detail during one of the Lego Star Wars games where while you're on Dagobah, Luke can't use the force unless Yoda is on him
As if he's helping nudge him the whole way
1. Han to Chewy, "Laugh it ups fuzzball"🤣
6:15
Hey Don! Do you know the internal body temperature of a Tauntaun?
Luke warm. 😏
Edit: Also, they survived because Han said "This may smell bad, kid, but it’ll keep you warm until I get the shelter up…"
Luke didn't just fall into the vent by luck. He was sucked into it.
Thought it was a car accident
Oh. You're right. Bad memory or misinformation on my part...
You are TRULY blessed to not know Vader was Luke's Father. You really got to experience the best plot twist in Cinema History!
You learn a lot about Vader as a character from all the movies. He’s probably the main character out of the whole series.
don calling palpatine clapped is one of the funniest things i heard this year lmaooooo
Admiral Ozzel was also Mr Bronson in Grange Hill, so seeing Vader choke him out was so satisfying.
41:20 it’s crazy how he didn’t get this part of the movie. Yes the force but it’s teasing something else
Don really looked at a metal slab and said “That’s luxury”
I still think that chronological order is the best
Force users can use the Force to manipulate objects including their own body. That's how Luke could jump so high or direct his falling body into a maintenance duct.
The ion cannon disrupts the electric power so the star destroyer were a sitting duck while the transport passed them.
Can't wait for him to find out about.... them.... x'D
Since the High Republic era (~400 BBY) the Jedi Order has been in nominal operation, it has a gatekeeping effect (easier to learn the Light Side the Jedi way, harder in other patterns)
Most Jedi are Guardians and most use Guardian lightsabers (Blue or Blue/Teal), they focus on saber mastery and fighting the Sith.
Since Darth Bane, the SIth have followed the Rule of Two, to consolidate their power in 2 people, slightly weakening other Dark Side users (when the Cosmic Force is balanced)
Both good and bad Whills of the Force (god particles) are required to create life.
Luke’s facial injuries in the beginning were from an actual car accident he was in either during or right before filming. I can’t remember which.
I always thought Vader didn’t care about personal space. I’m glad I’m not the only one that notices his multiple lapses in social situations.
By the end of this reaction you fully convinced me that Leia is a two timer. I was tryin' to justify it at the start, like she and Luke were never a thing, she just gave him a kiss after he almost died (mainly just to piss off Han), but yeah, she fully was with Han, even said "I love you," and they all know Han survived the freeze, so he's not dead yet...and sure enough she's kissing Luke as soon as he's back like...ok lol
Still not as bad as Mary Jane from the og Spiderman movies
Funny how the cloud city inspired NASA to make plans for Venus.
Luke: AT-ATs? Man I blew up the Death Star, somebody hold my beer. LOL
Best one hands down. Got the snow battle tattoo'd on my chest.
44:01
Luke were not ready for the truth as a reckless, impulsive farmer boy.
This is where the fun begins
"Somebody told me this is good (Ahsoka) but I don't know when to watch that" - The correct answer is AFTER you watch The Clone Wars animated movie (her introduction) & series, and the animated series Rebels, Ahsoka is pretty much season 5 of Rebels
6:55 Han said it will smell until he get the shelter up.
They spent the night in a shelter that Han made.
I'm not going to lie it is a gift that you went into the big reveal untapped.
Got gonna lie, we’re all waiting for episode 3
I’m not sure how you watch these in real time, but if you had a month gap between any Star Wars is crazy!
28:15
In the Star Wars university you have to be force sensitive, like psychists/mediums have a spiritual gift.
Finally more Star Wars.
If there's one problem I got with this movie, it's the love back 'n forth with Leia.
This man does not deserve this master pieace of a film.
Really good.
wow remember when this movie cam out and the spoiler was actually a surprise
The least surprised person at that twist
Lando is a snake to our heroes, but he is trying to save his city.
this and the next one are my absolute favorite star wars movies
they did 3 than 20 years till the next 3 and then almost 20 years again till the next 3 haha
most iconic plot twit in history
I highly suggest watching Episodes 1,2, and 3 now. Before Episode 6.
I think it was just air suction lol
Please react to the next one soon I don't wanna wait another month or 2 your reactions are great ❤️ gonna be a good one
To understand what happened with Anakin, you should watch the fantom menace, Attack of the clones and revenge of the sith
a refreshing bo'el of Sta' War'.
Its crazy how Lukes face is real due too an accident
Yes, lineup is 6,1,2,3, Then a bunch of great other stuff. Not commenting on7,8,9
You have to watch the family guy Star Wars. Their humor matches up to yours perfectly
Can u do a star wars playlist? Loving the reactions. Just finished dead pool
I cant wait for you to watch the prequels. They are so good.
Hi! React please "The Expanse. Right path. This TV show 6 seasons. Show phenomenal! Deep and powerful!! 🙏✌️
Hes like huh 😮 wait. Is he not confirmed by obi/ben. What?!
back into this territory
Best Star Wars movie
