- Discover the potential risks associated with off-brand versions of semaglutide medications like Wegovy, Ozempic, and Rybelsus. The U.S. FDA warns patients about the safety concerns of compounded semaglutide, emphasizing that these modified medications are not FDA-approved or evaluated for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Compounding pharmacies are permitted to prepare versions of drugs in short supply, but patients should be cautious as these products may not contain the same active ingredient as FDA-approved versions. Stick to prescribed semaglutide medications obtained from licensed healthcare providers and FDA-registered facilities. Learn more about the FDA-approved semaglutide products and the importance of obtaining them legally.

Until now, Physicians have been taught to prescribe generic medications for their patients. With this group of very effective medications we are now warned that generics are not safe. Sorry, I've prescribed these medications from a very reputable compounding pharmacy and my patients have had great success. In addition to significant weight savings they've had improvement in their high blood pressure, diabetes, back and hip problems and sleep apnea. If they wait for their insurance company to approve them (usually takes 3 prior authorizations in my experience) and 12 weeks for the medication to become available they continue to deteriorate and gain more weight. Many thanks for your advice on safe compunded alternatives to the over priced brand names as well as the information on the compounding pharmacy reference.

Pray for me please I just injected semaglutide from an online pharmacy on a steroid website lol I'm kinda scared

I work for Wells Pharmacy Network, and we properly compound and dispense both Tirzepatide and Semaglutide. We ship nationwide. Wells has been in business for over 10 years.
Do they compound Mounjaro? I need the GLP-1 and the GIP. My health insurance is no longer covering it effective May 1st. I’m a type 2 diabetic and it’s been a god send for me. It’s really awful that companies would rather keep us sick rather than on life saving medication.

Really good points. Buyers should always beware. But one wonders if the danger is for real or is the FDA engaging in manufactured hysteria? As far as I can see, these compounding pharmacies are helping to drive down the price of these drugs and the drug companies don't like that. So watch out for more exaggerations from the drug companies and the FDA. Great video.
True, but then there's the inherently higher risk that comes with an injectable drug. The fungal meningitis outbreak of 2012 was with an injectable steroid and killed over 60 people in 20+ states, sickening over 700. When you take something by mouth, you can always puke/poop some of it out if there's a toxin/poison in it, plus there's the lower bioavailability factor. Not so with injectables. Whatever's in there is hitting instantly & 100%. These pharmacies are NOT FDA regulated, meaning the conditions in which the meds are being mixed are not watched. When the FDA agents have walked through, they've found atrocious conditions: toaster ovens used to "sterilize" medications, pet beds in so-called sterile areas, etc. Then there are the "health spas" & nutritionists who are selling this medicine, as well as the peptide peddlers who sell a "reconstituted" form you mix and inject yourself. 🤦Reddit is full of horror stories. People can no longer pretend this is about being healthy IMO.
The FDA DOES NOT APPROVE OF THIS PRODUCT, it’s ok I don’t approve of the FDA,
@@drac464exactly!!
Yessssssss!!! Say it
Agree!
Keep things in perspective:
Compounding has been around forever. Its as safe if not safer than India/China factories (named brand drug makers) that produce name brand drugs.
Consider the source of these FDA actions. It didnt come from consumer complaints. it came from the brand name drug makers...that see their profits being threatened.
There are millions that rely on compounding for their prescriptions on a daily basis. Millions.

With the new Eli Lilly savings coupon for Zepbound, I probably won’t need the compounded medication anymore. Next month I’m going to try to get it at my local pharmacy with the coupon and only pay $25 instead of $500 for the compounded medication.
Thanks for addressing this and for making the issue more understandable.

I get compounded tirzepetide with B12 from a compounding pharmacy and I definitely say that it is NOT the same as Monjauro. It does not have the effect that the real Monjauro had when I was taking it, even though I’ve gone up on the dosage. It does help, but definitely not the same. There is no telling what some people are putting into their bodies for weight loss because they can’t even come close to affording the real Monjauro. I doubt Eli Lily is losing money so they could make this affordable to help people get a healthy weight. All about the money 😢
What pharmacy? If the pharmacy is doing regular batch checks they should catch if something was under what it was supposed to be.
Can you so kind and share where you get your tirzepetide?
Can you share please?
Cool story. Not the same story for me. The same
The active ingredient is the same.
I don’t trust the FDA completely especially when it comes to my money
I take compound pharmacy semiglutide but not from online. I work with a functional medicine clinic and I need to go there in person every 2 months before they order a new vile. As part of the program i have a ton of informations and health coach video calls. I am at the 6 months mark and lost 32 pounds so far. I started from 232 and now I am at 200. Started from a 35 BMI and I am now at a 30 BMI. I lost almost 15 % body mass so far. Being compound is cery easy for going very slowly in dosage, way slower than doing the pen with the brand medications. I trust my functional medicine clinic doctor as I worked with him for years and other issies before this program. I pay 400 for each vile (a bit more for the innitial visit). Still going strong. Good luck, everybody!

Hi Dr Mike I ❤ You and Your Videos Your so Informative and smart
I have just started Semaglutide. My experiences so far is that I feel full all the time. I do not feel hunger at all. I had a cookie and it felt like I just ate a thanksgiving dinner. I do not crave food.
As far as side effects I have not noticed any. It is still too early for me to evaluate the resulting weight loss but it has definitely killed my desire to overeat or snack.
Was it Ozempic or Mounjaro, or was it just from a compounding pharmacy?
@joeking433 They said semaglutide, which is the compounded form of Ozempic
@@balzoemg8415 No, semaglutide is NOT the "compounded form" of Ozempic! Semaglutide Sodium or Semaglutide Acetate is the compounded form of the Semaglutide in Ozempic but has not been found to be safe or effective.
_"Patients should be aware that some products sold as 'semaglutide' may not contain the same active ingredient as FDA-approved semaglutide products and may be the salt formulations. Products containing these salts, such as semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate, have not been shown to be safe and effective."_
thank you! Great to be aware.
Thank you so much! Question: can I take my daily magnesium pill if taking Semaglutide? What drugs should you not take? Thanks
Thank you…
I've been using semaglutide sodium and have seen very positive changes in my appetite and in my BP. Im so thankful to have been able to afford it this way. I will look for a non sodium compounded one for my next vial, but for now this works for me
Semaglutide salts are a different drug so you are lucky. Semaglutide base is different than salts and the salts long term effects are not known.
I bought Semaglutide analogue from a peptide lab. Not sure where this is in the list, but hlad yo hear Sodium is working.
Can you share where you bought it from?
Ozempic made me nauseous for 3mths straight, blood sugar stayed exactly the same and I put on a couple of kilos in weight.
Upon ceasing the medication my diabetes flared up like crazy, I drank so much water I thought I’d burst, literally!
It took about 3 weeks of terrible thirst before it began to settle down but 9 weeks after I stopped I’m still not back to normal.
So it’s not a guaranteed fix for everyone and can have some serious side effects too.
Many drugs have the bounce back affect, the body can fight back too hard.
Did you taper or stop cold turkey?
Yep every med works different from others but the nausea and vomiting is common on ozempic and some have to take Zofran an anti nausea med with it. I've heard people that failed with ozempic tried tirzepatide worked better.
Thanks so much for this information. 🙏
Great video
It’s crazy because my Med Spa charges me more for Compounded Tirzepatide 😮I would think that version would be cheaper wow! 😮
What is the name of the document that we can request by the compounding pharmacy to list the percentage of active ingredients ?
Ozempic makes me feel really sick. Thank you for helping me to research
After 4 days into my first week of the Ozempic injection I had such terrible abdominal cramping I thought I was dying or about to pass blood! I take 20 mg. of Nexium daily and I think that had something to do with it. My GP thought I had "over-eaten" because he thinks my weight is the result of excess caloric intake LOL.
If your drinking enough water, quality electrolytes, avoiding fried or high fat foods, avoiding added sugar and empty carbs and you’re still nauseous, then I would ask for a lower dose, or a different medication.
As you know, insurance companies will NOT cover either of these, Rx from your doctor or not. I was on a great Sema from a company that was closed down. I tried 3 other online companies and got a very low potency or saline. Nothing worked. Any suggestions?
Hello, where are you located please? Thank you
Is a sketchy sodium/acetate form of MOUNJARO being sold? My sis takes that and I'm getting scared. It comes from a local compounding pharmacy & I didn't know until today. All the articles are warning about semaglutide & Wegovy and this is all too confusing for me. She's having bizarre muscle aches after a year of using the med and I'm reminded of the fungal meningitis outbreak with an injectable drug from a compounding pharmacy in 2012 that killed over 60 people in multiple states.
IMO this wouldn't be so risky if these were oral meds, but the fact that you inject them adds to the risk. Also, the fact that compounding pharmacies aren't FDA regulated is troubling. It says they're not on the agency's own website but then goes on to say: "only obtain medicines from state-licensed pharmacies or outsourcing facilities registered with FDA." How the heck do we know who's registered with the FDA? And why are they allowing compounding pharmacies to make these meds if they're NOT?
I hope he answers your question. 🙏🏾
So it’s not OK to take the versions of these drugs that have a salt in them but it’s OK to take all the generics on the market which also have salt in them? The people who are turning to peptide companies and buying overseas are much smarter than you are giving them credit for. People are chipping in and having the batches checked for purity and dosing. They are not doing this blindly. And while it is true that some of these non-brand versions have different side effects, they are all producing the desired results at a fraction of the cost.
Doctor Mike Hansen……Some can I take this medicine if I already take Fasenra and Repatha
Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic is a FINISHED product which means the injector pen is as much part of the product as the liquid. That is one of the reason it costs more from what I understand.
What is the alternative to a “finished” product?
Peptides... @@rodenrren2
compounded
Right, which is also supposedly why there's a shortage. The shortage is the pens, not the semaglutide.

My insurance covers Mounjaro, but would like to get Mounjaro
compounded without sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate, ...it gives me horrible rashes...would my insurance still cover it from a compounding pharmacy
that is ok I'll take the risk. When insurance don't want to cover you don't have no other options
So I got a prescription from my doctor and it appears as though the prescription went to a compounding pharmacy but I believe they’re licensed. Do they have to disclose whether or not the semaglutide has salt in it/is the salt form? I got these blue semaglutide troches that dissolve under the tongue and I’m really nervous about taking them.
Curious how everything is working out for you
I bought 20mg of Semaglutide analogue ftom a Peptide lab.
So it is not acetate or Sodium. Is it the correct active ingredient?
Hey Dr Hansen , quick question on Wegovy... and similar drugs like this. It's my understanding that they make the pancreas go into over drive producing more insulin. How can you lose weight if insulin is flowing. It was my understanding that you lose weight when you have no insulin in blood stream and ketons floating instead. Doesn't this promote or speed up pancreatitis and / or cancer of the pancreas if it's constantly inflamed and overworked ?
If you have type 2 diabetes, your pancreas isn’t making enough insulin to process sugar. So this medication helps with that.
Is the compounding pharmacy buying semaglutide (only liquid form) from novo Nordisk. Or they buying directly from a supplier that NN might buy from as well? From what I understand it is more likely the second.
No, Novo said the do not sell their semaglutide to anyone. It's more the compounding pharmacy's own concoction.
@@joeking433do your research. Novo buys from a 3rd party provider. Which also sells it to compounded pharmacies. Semaglutide through compounders is the same exact formulation.

Sadly the booking website is still not working :/
I’ve been waiting four months for my prescribed Wegovy and can’t find a place anywhere in my area to fill it, so my only option is to use the compounded version. I’m so miserably that I’m thinking of taking the risk. Ugh!
It probably is okay. Even if you take Wegovy you could have a lot of side effects.
Do you have to taper off these drugs or can you simply stop taking them?

It might as well be semaglutide pepper jam since it is never tested nor the facility inspected for contamination which can occur even with legitimate facilities so you can guarantee is is occurring in some of these drug shops.
