It's no wonder the mortality rate around this time is alarmingly high esp. among adults.
I just turned 65 and I’m not working. I don’t have a high stress lifestyle ~~kind of boring right now ~~but what did happen was ,I had to change insurances from Medicare advantage plan to a Medigap plan and the plan D for Medicare and all of that stress culminated in an incident that caused (just before I was going to put the turkey in for Thanksgiving)….My blood pressure bottomed out dangerously to 87/52 where I was previously Hypertensive for the last six months to a year… Long story short I’m in between insurances and I can’t do anything about it. I’m not covered until 1 December so I’m relying on God to keep me alive and well for always. Turns out I was only dehydrated .😮

I have never shopped on black friday nor do I go out driving on new years eve. I dont need the stress. I don't think putting yourself in danger for a few dollars or a few drinks is a wise decision.

Those hours you quote for Uk are unlawful. The limits are, 9 hrs daily limit on driving, this can be increased to 10 hrs but only twice in a week with a weekly maximum of 56 hours, 90 hours in 2 consecutive weeks.These are EU rules that are still, as yet applicable in the Uk.
In the US it is 70 hours in 8 consecutive days and 10 hour days.

as far as the driver working 14 hrs shifts for a week straight - that is clearly fatigue - and yep, you can die from it, I almost did, working 90-120hrs week for several months - and almost passed out while driving to work one morning. you lose sense of reality and your brain NEEDS a period of rest (the body itself doesn't) or you go full mental overload and shut down.

For your explaining of the broken heard syndrom I want to gave you a better idea: it gots the name of persons who lost their partner. The sadness was so big that the body reacts with sort of heart attack. The were hardly sad so the stresslevel was too high for their organism.
