I think a LOT of people were expecting a tie in with another Doctor, or a tie in to ANOTHER plot of the same name from the Classic series. Bit strange they'd call it the same thing on that note, like they're 'riding the wave' of the hype. Also, people were expecting something a LOT more grandiose so that it could take us to November when the actual 60th is going ahead.
Yeah a lot of people were expecting more but even those who weren't setting themselves up for disappointment were expecting a bit more than that. It was a bad piece of marketing.
Having a comedian be “The Deadliest Assassin in the Universe” might’ve been a bit of a miscast. Feel this role needs someone like Derek Jacobi. An actor or actress who can pull of the duality of charming people into trusting them, but not overplaying it. Meaning the audience knows they will still kill whoever they come across just because. I know nothing about Sooz Kempner, maybe she’ll surprise us and pull off the darkness this character absolutely has to have, but we’ll see. I feel the worst this series will amount to in fans’ eyes will be: “Kinda forgettable with an unfortunate miscast.” Perhaps one or a couple of stories in it will be standout, especially when it comes to Big Finish! Just gotta wait & see
There's people using Pertwee, Tate and a couple other good characters being played by comedians as a defence of this casting, but they're different characters. Donna Noble isn't an assassin, they need someone who can pull off those character traits that come with a role like that
@@redfive02 Indeed. People seem not to realise that Pertwee and Tate fundamentally aren't comedians, but gifted character actors who just happened to have become better known for comedy roles. They both trained at prestigious drama schools - RADA and Central School of Speech & Drama respectively - and did some pretty heavy duty theatre work before they hit the big time in radio and/or TV comedies.
Why? Maybe it will be a lot of fun. Maybe she isn't so serious about herself? And maybe she isn't really the "deadliest assassin". Don't just assume anything. You don't know what the characters like.
Two things it reminded me of: 1) When the UK Channel "Channel 4" started some of the advertising was done by ordinary people from the companies involved, it was dirt cheap, they read out from a script but couldn't get the tone, rhythm etc. write and it was laughably amateurish. 2) 80s/90s childrens shows like "Rentaghost" which had the same complete lack of credibility. Watching it you don't think for a second this is anything remotely serious. It looks like a parody.

Good thoughts dude! I don't like to pile on with internet hate, but it's so frustrating to see the BBC putting out garbage by making amateur hour decisions. I saw a post saying the "costume" cost 2000 quid, and it's like do they not realise for that money you HIRE A STYLIST FOR THE DAY, you don't spend the money on a team of students to design and sew an outfit, when you can hire a stylist for that to bring a range of outfits to use. There's no need for the character, who is an assassin to have a tailored original piece - it's meant to be real - the character doesn't need a custom star wars/super hero outfit that they always wear. I'd imagine the custom "Star Wars-esque" costume is a marketing thing. If she's going to be a multi-media character, they probably want her to look discernable across comics, books, games, etc. so that she stands out and people recognize her easily. It doesn't fix the fact that the costume is goofy looking, at least in its current form, but the entire trailer is goofy and low-budget so I guess they're not too concerned. I'd like to see her do some "Hitman" type stuff and swap outfits to blend in. Her vortex manipulator seems to glow a distinct purple, so that should be enough to distinguish her during scenes and in marketing, but maybe the BBC and production team disagree.
Music is cool, concept is cool (though I've heard the words "deadliest assassin" like a million times in the show), but the execution leaves a lot to be desired... I guess we'll have to see how this all pans out

I agree Disney likely had nothing to do with that Trailer. They were probably a little too busy looking at the viewing figures for Dancing With the Stars and or The Bachelor.
I am getting up there in years, and my first memory of Doctor Who is the first broadcast of The Spearhead from Space, Pertwee’s first story, so I am familiar, and even fond of, things made on shoestring budgets. They can be fantastic, if done well. My main concern is: what does this have to do with The 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who? The show is a story about a being who steals a TARDIS, then goes on the become one of the universe’s greatest defenders. Might it not have been better to release one or two new stories for each Doctor from Hartnell onwards, and tie them all together with an overarching plot? This, at least, is directly related to the show. 24 hours (stories) focussed on an assassin, where the Doctor’s credo is, largely, one of non-violence, seems to me an odd choice to celebrate the anniversary of the show’s titular character. I am struggling, at this stage to wonder why I should even care about her. Hopefully, stronger links to the show, and the Doctor, will become evident as things progress. Cheers,
People do need to learn to not get their hopes up so high when an announcement is teased. Practically every other time that’s happened it’s been something like this and, quite frankly, something like this was exactly what I was expecting. Having said that however, that teaser video was a pretty unfortunate decision. It was not well made, I’m sorry. I’ll try to check this out but I’m one of those never really got into Time Lord Victorious because it was so daunting. I have a feeling it’ll be the same with this as I do not have an unlimited budget… or even unlimited rrrice pudding, unfortunately…
I had no idea about this "Doom's Day" tie-in. Honestly, it looks pretty naff to me. But if there are fans out there who end up enjoying it, I'm genuinely happy for them.
I don’t hate the concept cause we had a television series here in a America called 24 where each season took place over the course of one hour in a 24 hour time period and the show was successful so the concept can work but having a multi platform can make it to expensive for a lot of people and I hope they don’t try to tie it into the first 60th anniversary special where having done doom’s day becomes a requirement to understand the special
I think we should give it a chance. The change in show runner for Doctor Who well knows the fans and what they like. So let’s be eager to see what it’s all about before you throw it in the trash. Remember what the very first of the classic Doctor Who episodes were low budget. I was around then and the fans then didn’t care that it was low budget. The stories were good enough that our imaginations took over. Here is your chance to be in at the beginning of something and it could be a wild ride.
I totally thought that was the actress that played Elton’s garden tile girlfriend (was her name Ursula?) from Love & Monsters! And she is indeed evil as evidenced by the fact she is wearing an outfit she obviously stole from Grogu- it is his little outfit he wears -it’s even ripped on the shoulders from her force fitting into little Baby Yoda’s tunic/toga thingy. And why did everyone think the clock meant Matt Smith was returning? (Ah I bet it’s on 11:00 or something, will have to rewind and check). I typically don’t get into these multimedia events, but happy for the fans who enjoy such things. But may check it out if it sounds decent, regardless of the trailer.
I tried to keep up with all the parts of Timelord Victorious, but I think I lost track and gave up. I wish it was all available in one simple package, kind of like a multimedia box set, but as far as I'm aware that isn't a thing. Please let it be a thing.
I saw the teaser and was just curious ... but then, it's Doctor Who and as a fan of classic, once it got over here, I remember the rubber suit monsters and stuff even with Tom Baker and forward. I'm just waiting for the show to be on Disney+ and wishing they'd release the entire available Classic era on there as well ...
this feels like the same quality as a 1990s CD-ROM game where the cutscenes are filmed on a green screen with people in costumes but pixely, and the gameplay graphics are very flat.
I've actually thought for a while now that some of the show's best potential spin-off material could be based around a time-travelling assassin - which makes it even more frustrating to see what they've done here. I expect that a time-travelling assassin story is only going to be cool and interesting if it takes itself seriously, with great action, stunts, and likely a slightly darker tone. Instead, they've seemingly done the exact opposite by casting an upbeat comedian that might spend more time cracking jokes during a fight than actually fighting. "Hi - I'm Doom. Blame my mother..", "Someone sent death...literal death!", "A lot of flames!!!", they threw three insanely unfunny quirky joke lines in there in less than a minute, and that does really concern me. I'm not going to trash too hard on the trailer's budget/CGI, because it seems more like an early pitch thing, but it's just an incredibly uninspired reveal. I don't know what's up with the marketing team behind this one, but in what world does anyone still think trailers with characters just explaining the plot to the audience are a good idea? You've got to actually show some proof of concept instead of just reading the concept, otherwise the audience isn't going to care. It's that "treat the audience like they're children" marketing style, which isn't the type of audience that watched RTD's prior Doctor Who seasons. It makes me think this show will be aimed at younger audiences, which is just a disappointing use of the idea and also frustrating considering it hasn't been expressly described that way yet. Doctor Who's base show is already fairly family-friendly and lighthearted (most of the time), they need to give us something with a little more tonal variety. Is there a chance that this show releases and is fantastic and perfectly nails whatever tone it's going for? Possibly, but I'm struggling to picture that outcome, in all honesty.
Science fiction used to be a niche thing. Meaning there wasn’t usually huge profits in it. Therefore it used to attract mostly passionate people that loved Science Fiction. Now Science Fiction is a mainstream thing. Meaning there are huge profits in it. Therefore it now attracts many many people that are not exactly in it for the passion. People that only see the superficial layers because they never cared to look deeper. Hence, we get this kind of crap. And I don’t mean the low cost aspect of it (that was part of it in the past). But the lack of creativity to use such limitations to its advantage, like you’d see so many shows do when Science Fiction was a niche. The “found footage” idea that a fan apparently gave in the comments reflects this, I think.
As a Whovian who's watched the soul of my favorite show get flushed right down the toilet by the BBC (and Chibbers specifically), I wish I could say I still possessed enough tosses to actually be disappointed in the trailer... but I can't. I've come through the other side of disappointment and resentment, and I've landed here, at knowing apathy. I understand there are folks excited about seeing Tennant back in the role and about Davies being back at the helm. If that's you, more power to you. I just can't get excited about the show after seeing several seasons of neurotic, soulless virtue signaling walking around in the skin suit of the franchise that meant so much to me. The trailer looks genuinely awful, but it doesn't bother me because it's not my show anymore.
I don't get how or why they'd knock it so long before it's even out. They specifically have hid all details of the second episode. For all we know, the master disguised as 11 could shoot 12 in front of 9, and we'd never know because of NDAs and hidden shooting locations
Even i thought the marketing wasn't the best, I think if it was just an audio trailer it would have been fine (maybe not with the character just telling us the storyline, cause that's a bit lazy, put a bit of story explaining the story) but even I a classic who fan who really doesn't care much thought it looked visually bad. Also I just don't care about the huge multi media events because they're just to hard to keep track of, I still have no idea where to start with tumelord victorious and at this point don't really care because it's a lot of work for a story that eventually ends back in the status quo. Plus I can't read books. There is also the problem of just not caring about the fact that a new character who's the universes best assassin dying. Part of the problem was the fans doing that thing where they instantly assume something that was highly unlikely and then hated anything else. I saw the teaser and instantly knew what was going to happen. Really the bad marketing, which it is, and it's a fair criticism, won't put me off it, the main thing that puts me off it is the whole multi media event and at the moment just not really caring about the imminent death of the greatest assassin and I'm not really sure why the doctor would be either, unless this threat is going to harm others, I could see several incarnations being very much fine with it (a few wouldn't, like maybe 10 or 11 but most of the classic doctors, 9 & 12 in could see being very much well you deal business with death so deal with it, not sure about 13, considering her reaction to assassins though I'm guessing she'd fall into the latter but she also tried to not kill Tom Shaw, soaybe the former, saying that 11 also had his limits, like in dinosaurs on a spaceship or a town called mercy or let's kill Hitler, so maybe he'd also fit into the latter).
I find the concept interesting and I'll wait for more info before I decide, but it looks like there will be a lot of media and unless you're loaded, it's not budget friendly to get everything. And, I'm sorry to say it, but I'm not really getting "greatest assassin" from this character, Doom, so far. I'm getting friendly time agent or something. Like, this character could be friends with Jack Harkness and I can totally see them hanging out in an intergalactic bar. .I do think it's great that there's more going on for the 60th anniversary.

I mean at first I thought it looked like a Cbeebies trailer. I still do. But now I'm thinking, the project itself may not be half bad. Look, the graphics made me feel sick and that is not an exaggeration but, it's a multi-media project which means a lot of time and effort is clearly being put into it so perhaps they didn't have the time or budget to do a fancy trailer. Don't judge a book by its cover as they say. The trailer is just the cover. The book could be something entirely different.
Sooz is great and I'll broadside anyone says otherwise, but the best part of that Doom's Day video were the comments. Doctor Who expanded media stuff is great and literally kept the series going while it was off the air, but something that looked as cheap as that isn't going to bring in more fans in my opinion.
I don't read the magazines anymore, the last Doctor Who game I played was the adventure games and I don't listen to the audio dramas. I probably won't partake in this but yeah the concept is cool. The huge build up to this was pretty stupid on their part though. I mean Doctor Who fans have become pretty salty over everything that has happened in recent years so what did they expect? Obviously this was going to get memed on.
I would recommend the big finish audios (if you can afford them) they're normally worth the money (you get a few bad stories like with anything but they're the minority), some of my all time favourite doctor who stories are audios (spare parts, to the death, legacy of time, the unbound series, etc)
I'm in two minds about this. I read the comics and I've just started listening to the Big Finish audios after all these years so I'm aware that all that stuff isn't totally essential to watch the main series but for the 60th anniversary I would have thought they would have done much more. I might give it a go and see what it's about but I'm not expecting much 😢
that backdrop looks like the projection backdrop of gallifrey you could get when you visited the Dr. Who set/tour/museum/interactive adventure with the last official doctor.
It honestly seems like a cool story but they absolutely marketed it poorly. They should've at least shown some of the books, comics audio and other multimedia things in the story. Seems like Time Lord Victorious was given a lot more care and attention in its launch trailer then here. Because it does seem cool but they've probably already turned off people which is sad.
I've been a life long fan of the show since the very first day of broadcast in 1963, so I can look past dodgy sets and low production values. Unfortunately I can't suspend my disbelief with this when it comes down to such bad miscasting and woeful acting ability. What age group is this trailer aimed at exactly, 5 year olds?
I don't get the hate personally. It's a multi media event, it costs nothing to not consume it (literally, because it'll cost a lot to consume it lol). I'm one of the few weird people that actually got to experience a lot, most even, of Time Lord Victorious and genuinely I had such a blast piecing it all together and making sense of it. I know I'm the only one who actually did, which is why to me it seems so obvious that DD is addressing all the criticisms directly. There'll be no question about the order it's meant to be read/watched/listen/etc'd in because even if something does get delayed it tells us where in the 24 hours its set. Also instead of following 8, 9, 10, the Kotturuh, the Daleks or Brian we're just following one character. So I expect I'm going to have a good time with this and if it's not for you simply don't consume it. I'm not upset that they teased with the clock because... obviously they want to market it? It generated a ton of buzz so it worked. Unfortunately the teaser is... MEGA cheap looking... but it hasn't dissuaded me too much. I like seeing Doctor Who Twitter up in flames actually!
I think people are upset because besides the wooden delivery and cheap effects of that short, people were hoping for the show to come back swinging with a revitalised showrunner and big budget, and the signs so far are that it's actually going to be a bit cheap and embarrassing. Even the effects and acting for the next episode look pretty bad. And as for "The Maestro", or a drag act dressed up like evil Bette Midler..it's not what people were hoping for. But some will like it, and there's no harm in saying that a show isn't really for you any longer, and I think if I'm honest, the show reached that point for me long ago. No skin of my nose to let those who do enjoy the new show do so.
Those “creatives” you mentioned don’t seem to be very creative with the trailer designed to sell this project? I mean, a trailer is supposed to be the tasty worm that makes the fish bite the hook, line and sinker! This trailer was triggering my ‘cringe and upchuck’ response instead… Plus, didn’t the Keifer Sutherland tv show called ‘24 ‘ kinda do this countdown to doomsday stuff back in the day? I’m not being negative here, as I’m almost beyond caring about Doctor Who anymore! In the same manner I slowly stopped caring about Disney Star Wars after The Last Jedi. I hope it finds an audience somewhere but after the ‘Timeless Child’ finale episode destroyed 50 plus years of story canon (under Chris Chibnall’s command) I just don’t have any hope left that the BBC even wants to fix this mess?🤔🙃
Matt Smith isn't going to be announced. I don't see why they would do that. Keeping it a surprise until the specials airs and then seeing Matt Smith showing his face when we don't expect it. Would be more impactful, and plus, it hasn't really been leaked that he has come back to the role. So why would they give that away. I can definitely see him in the 60th, maybe for a cameo. Just because the fanbase is demanding his return like mad. But yeah, of course Matt is back. It is pretty obvious. But, yeah... be patient. It will come. I will eat my words if he doesn't appear
The concept, if I'm honest with myself, is fairly decent. However, the acting is like Jingle the Jester from Limmy's Show. Doom (blame their mum) just feels like a cbeebies character.
It was badly written, cheaply made, but more importantly, the lead role character is a complete vacuum. I’ve never heard of or seen Kempner before, but frankly I thought she was kinda awful. So yeh, I’m thinking this actually deserves all it’s getting served to it.
The countdown clock is one of Chibnalls tropes and the music is evocative of Akinola's also it's made by BBC Studios not Bad Wolf who are the main producers now
@Crispy Pro There is a such a big double standard here. When it's a female character or person behind the scenes being criticised cue the excuses of sexism or "you have no right to an opinion". YET, when it's Chris Chibnall or Peter Capaldi getting the SAME TRETMENT? Virtual SILENCE. Most people's dislike, has more to do with the low key connection to 60 years of Doctor Who and the simple fact, they're focusing this on a character who isn't THE DOCTOR. And why do they need this character Doom anyway? She's a lazy parody of Ace or Benny. WHY NOT have either of those two? 1. That would automatically get fans liking the idea. 2. Fans would be more likely to buy the many stories. OR they should've introduced Doom years ago, with the purpose of building her as a character and her popularity with the audience. Then, she'd be already known to Doctor Who fans. They'd be aquatinted with her back story and any new fans would be available to catch up. All of this comes across as badly thought out and done in a very lazy way. And that is not fair to either the character, the actress or the audience. David
I think they should have used the 60th to retcon the timeless child, maybe bring it out that the timeless child is actually the master. Maybe all the experiments is what eventually turned him mad.
I hope this is just to tide over, the over-eager fans who can't wait until November. It just feels like filler, the stories might be good. But, without know who's involved and where, and how. It's a bit of a gamble.
The Death character could be a Quantum Shade like what Ashildr had in Face The Raven. That would also explain Doom having a 24 hour countdown. just a lil theory i came up with tho, and not very likely
I get that we like/dislike what we like/dislike. Sometimes I just get a bit tired of the armchair quarterback hate reaction. I’m not a writer or marketer, so I’m not in a position to criticize. I’m a consumer of entertainment. I’m just gonna do that and enjoy what I enjoy. I think this could be fun. I’m glad you seem to have an open mind about it.
I'll be honest it's genuinely looking like a weird down with the kids drug sobriety thing... I mean the music at the end makes the whole thing a meme. I mean unless it was made via Brian Butterfields production studio I really can't see how it's taken seriously. I mean if doom is in various media formats n isn't exactly live action unmasked its fine but ultimately with her only having 24 appearances it's not surprising they would just push the voice actor to do the trailer herself than raise can expectations with a different face and voice.
I'd be interested in the story if it were video. The fact that this is being released in everything but video means I'm not going to be able to follow this. I mean, in 2012, I tried to get the Assimilation² comics and it was hard because my local shops that sold comics didn't want to sell it. So I just feel like this is a waste.
In short, they've done projects like this before (e.g. Time Lord Victorious) so for those who are into all the audio and literature content it'll probably be pretty cool, but they shot themselves in the foot a bit by overhyping it and then dropping that god-awful trailer. Just quietly releasing a simple animated trailer Big Finish-style would've been enough and wouldn't have stirred up any negativity

And if she is supposedly like the universe's most deadly assassin being chased down by literal death... why is she so bubbly and happy? Is she talking to kids? Is that it? Why? What's the point in trying to teach kids that assassination is cool? Flying around in a blue box and helping people is cool. Why not stick to that. 🤔
I have mixed thoughts about it yeah because like I want to check it out it seems interesting BUT as Troy said it sounds like it would end up being extremely expensive to keep up with. I think the BBC just shot themself in the foot here by calling it "Doom's Day" and putting a teaser for a teaser everywhere because people might just go "omg Rose is coming back for a short?!". I know that the BBC didn't want to spend too much on something that not many people would even want to check out but they could've made it look better by just getting some uni students involved who want to get their names out there.
People do nothing but whinge, instead of waiting to see the full content, they get a glimpse and are off to social media to say 'What is this shite?' before even giving it a chance. It ruins the possibility of having fun side projects because people just want the exact same thing all the time. And of course the first thing they do is criticise the actors involved who are just doing a job. See the whole thing through. I remember the wilderness years only too well. But unfortunately instead of being critical in a constructive way, people launch into these attacks. I wish I had a TARDIS to go back in time or into a more enlightened future! Speaking of constructive criticism, what's with holding the lav mic in your hand? I see a lot of people doing this, very odd. Great video though, I agree with a lot of what you said. This video is a prime example of how to raise any concerns without being an arse (like a lot of people on Twitter etc.).
I just don't like how they're doing it across multi media. It didn't work with time lord victorius, it won't work here. It's just a cash grab and stops some viewers from having a part of the story. A blind viewer can't get the full story, a deaf person can't get the full story. It's also going to extremely expensive
They really shouldn't have had anything akin to WHOA MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT ATTACHED TO THE 60TH on it unless they had a big trailer or reveal to do with that and then they could have dropped a couple of small things a day or two after similar to this. I saw the clock and I'm not one to speculate or read into anything I was just like oh cool, I'm excited! And then this is undeniably naff and a bit bizarre and doesn't match the tone of the teaser stuff. That was like modern music and a bit ominous and vague and this is goofy. Also calling it Doomsday... I know that could be a generic title but even if you're not a massive nerd and don't know every title of every episode like us lot, if someone asked you to name the title of a doctor who episode you'd likely say Doomsday. It's one of the most famous episodes. So confusing and weird.
Now while I am not going to absolutely rost this trailer I do feel it has given me a bad impression and hasn’t captivated me, now I was one of the people who really enjoyed the time lord victorious mainly because it introduced the dalek restoration empire (aka the best dalek empire) the launch trailer for that was exiting and left us with questions and teased what was to come yet this just feels a bit dull I am probably going to see what comes out and then see if I’ll buy any of it if it looks interesting
If anyone has ever seen any of Sooz stuff she posts on her twitter, usually impressions of celebrities and politicians and so on, this trailer looks like one of those shits, which is something I think she does in front of a greenskin in her house. It works for those one woman shows, but here, it just looks very cheaply made given what it's meant to be.
I think it’s a combination of things. 1. The multimedia story telling has been done before with Time Lord Victorious and just seems like another money making enterprise to sell more extortionately priced merchandise. 2. The trailer does look really amateurish and did not make a good first impression. No disrespect to Sooz as she’s a great comedian but it does have all the makings of a GCSE drama project. 3. Think we were all just expecting something more for the 60th Still bit early to judge so hoping it will be ok in the end!
A mask and a voice changer would be such a simple change to improve things quite a lot. Her face and voice is just more drama student than deadliest assassin.
Dreadful really is all I can say about that trailer. Not the fault of the actress but she has been miscast and it was very naff. Big Finish have been doing amazing cgi trailers for a while. Something like that with a voice over would have hit the mark. It felt like CBBC did this without RTD's consent or he left the office junior in charge and they had a not so bright brainwave.
@@sarahglover3286 yeah, the moment I saw it I was like, yep a lot of people will jump to the unlikely assumption that Matt Smith is going to be revealed and will immediately hate the thing that is actually shown. It also doesn't help that what was shown wasn't very good marketing.
To be fair to the actor I don't think she was given any direction other than stand their and read these lines. The "script" didn't really give her much to do.
The video forthcoming being from Australia I know to be Whovians. It aired on the Australian National Broadcaster hosted by Rove McManus and usually 4 guests (2 of who are there most of the time present). Many non DW fans actually liked it and an awful lot of fans hated it. I was somewhere in the middle until the year they were screening after each episode of series 11. No one ever seemed to have the courage to make any even slightly critical remark or analysis and it really ended up just being a rather sad children's fan fest complete with tacky segments etc... I appreciate that the majority of viewers don't want to watch a heavy DW analysis show however this was extreme lightweight and outright childish. I am glad it is not returning.
I didn't know about this until Jan 2024! Why? because I bought a magazine by chance that sent me to a website... where the links took me to only ONE hardback out of all of the books, and ONE audiobook. With no publicity that I saw when this was first out (on TV, radio, or anywhere except, one assumes DWM - I could only read the free First Hour and last episodes, and couldn't go to a single place and order all the parts in between as a single transaction. Typical LOUSY marketing and publicity - I now have a gap in my entire collection of every book, graphic novel, audiobook, and DVD/etc of the series and spin-offs. BBC, you messed up, big time - if you cannot keep lifetime fans informed, it is the Big Finish for you...
Did they seriously have to go so extreme with making...HER, the universe's deadliest assassin? I mean seriously, her, in the entire universe. It's like they deliberately make it cringe.
I think the thing that rubs me the wrong way is that this is the announcement, this is what is supposed to get you interested in the concept and it’s super rough. The green screen looks zero budget and the acting/writing is very cringe which, considering Doom is supposed to be the main character of this story arc? It’s not a great sign. I’ll keep my ear to the ground and see what people have to say when it releases but as of right now, my interest is yet to peak
It's a trailer for an audio/comics/books project, I think it's better if it's a cheaper trailer, no point in splashing the cash on something that'll not be live action and be separate from the show, bar her meeting up with these "fan favourites". People have really overreacted! Well, the ones for some reason raging about it are are!
If I was the individual doing the sign-off on this, I wouldn't cancel it, but I'd definitely say this couldn't be put out until it was likely had a reshoot... Yes, there would be additional expense, but absolutely necessary so it doesn't sink before it starts. Next piece of content about this is gonna need to be a step up imo. Believe they need to employ someone proficient with VFX/CGI/Greenscreening/Colour-grading, etc, as a priority for this. In my opinion, putting something out at that quality isn't a good move, not reflective of the goals of Doctor Who brand direction and especially quality going forward. How was this viewed as 'OK'... There are fan films that do a better job! (Yes those are passion projects, but this is being put out across official Doctor Who social media channels!) Just frustrated and disappointed as a long term fan of Doctor Who... 🤌

I think a LOT of people were expecting a tie in with another Doctor, or a tie in to ANOTHER plot of the same name from the Classic series. Bit strange they'd call it the same thing on that note, like they're 'riding the wave' of the hype. Also, people were expecting something a LOT more grandiose so that it could take us to November when the actual 60th is going ahead.

Having a comedian be “The Deadliest Assassin in the Universe” might’ve been a bit of a miscast. Feel this role needs someone like Derek Jacobi. An actor or actress who can pull of the duality of charming people into trusting them, but not overplaying it. Meaning the audience knows they will still kill whoever they come across just because.
I know nothing about Sooz Kempner, maybe she’ll surprise us and pull off the darkness this character absolutely has to have, but we’ll see. I feel the worst this series will amount to in fans’ eyes will be: “Kinda forgettable with an unfortunate miscast.” Perhaps one or a couple of stories in it will be standout, especially when it comes to Big Finish! Just gotta wait & see
There's people using Pertwee, Tate and a couple other good characters being played by comedians as a defence of this casting, but they're different characters. Donna Noble isn't an assassin, they need someone who can pull off those character traits that come with a role like that
@@redfive02 Indeed. People seem not to realise that Pertwee and Tate fundamentally aren't comedians, but gifted character actors who just happened to have become better known for comedy roles. They both trained at prestigious drama schools - RADA and Central School of Speech & Drama respectively - and did some pretty heavy duty theatre work before they hit the big time in radio and/or TV comedies.
They should rename this clown to the "Cringiest Assassin in the Universe".
Why? Maybe it will be a lot of fun. Maybe she isn't so serious about herself? And maybe she isn't really the "deadliest assassin". Don't just assume anything. You don't know what the characters like.
Two things it reminded me of:
1) When the UK Channel "Channel 4" started some of the advertising was done by ordinary people from the companies involved, it was dirt cheap, they read out from a script but couldn't get the tone, rhythm etc. write and it was laughably amateurish.
2) 80s/90s childrens shows like "Rentaghost" which had the same complete lack of credibility. Watching it you don't think for a second this is anything remotely serious. It looks like a parody.
Problem one - Budget of £200 by the looks of it.
Problem Two - Hiring a talentless 'Actress' who makes Mandip Gill look like Dame Judy Dench

Good thoughts dude! I don't like to pile on with internet hate, but it's so frustrating to see the BBC putting out garbage by making amateur hour decisions. I saw a post saying the "costume" cost 2000 quid, and it's like do they not realise for that money you HIRE A STYLIST FOR THE DAY, you don't spend the money on a team of students to design and sew an outfit, when you can hire a stylist for that to bring a range of outfits to use. There's no need for the character, who is an assassin to have a tailored original piece - it's meant to be real - the character doesn't need a custom star wars/super hero outfit that they always wear. I'd imagine the custom "Star Wars-esque" costume is a marketing thing. If she's going to be a multi-media character, they probably want her to look discernable across comics, books, games, etc. so that she stands out and people recognize her easily. It doesn't fix the fact that the costume is goofy looking, at least in its current form, but the entire trailer is goofy and low-budget so I guess they're not too concerned.
I'd like to see her do some "Hitman" type stuff and swap outfits to blend in. Her vortex manipulator seems to glow a distinct purple, so that should be enough to distinguish her during scenes and in marketing, but maybe the BBC and production team disagree.

I agree Disney likely had nothing to do with that Trailer. They were probably a little too busy looking at the viewing figures for Dancing With the Stars and or The Bachelor.
I am getting up there in years, and my first memory of Doctor Who is the first broadcast of The Spearhead from Space, Pertwee’s first story, so I am familiar, and even fond of, things made on shoestring budgets. They can be fantastic, if done well.
My main concern is: what does this have to do with The 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who? The show is a story about a being who steals a TARDIS, then goes on the become one of the universe’s greatest defenders. Might it not have been better to release one or two new stories for each Doctor from Hartnell onwards, and tie them all together with an overarching plot? This, at least, is directly related to the show.
24 hours (stories) focussed on an assassin, where the Doctor’s credo is, largely, one of non-violence, seems to me an odd choice to celebrate the anniversary of the show’s titular character. I am struggling, at this stage to wonder why I should even care about her. Hopefully, stronger links to the show, and the Doctor, will become evident as things progress.

People do need to learn to not get their hopes up so high when an announcement is teased. Practically every other time that’s happened it’s been something like this and, quite frankly, something like this was exactly what I was expecting. Having said that however, that teaser video was a pretty unfortunate decision. It was not well made, I’m sorry. I’ll try to check this out but I’m one of those never really got into Time Lord Victorious because it was so daunting. I have a feeling it’ll be the same with this as I do not have an unlimited budget… or even unlimited rrrice pudding, unfortunately…

I don’t hate the concept cause we had a television series here in a America called 24 where each season took place over the course of one hour in a 24 hour time period and the show was successful so the concept can work but having a multi platform can make it to expensive for a lot of people and I hope they don’t try to tie it into the first 60th anniversary special where having done doom’s day becomes a requirement to understand the special
I should add, 24 had 8 seasons spanning 8 days, each season having the 24 episodes, one episode for every hour.
I think we should give it a chance. The change in show runner for Doctor Who well knows the fans and what they like. So let’s be eager to see what it’s all about before you throw it in the trash. Remember what the very first of the classic Doctor Who episodes were low budget. I was around then and the fans then didn’t care that it was low budget. I totally thought that was the actress that played Elton’s garden tile girlfriend (was her name Ursula?) from Love & Monsters! And she is indeed evil as evidenced by the fact she is wearing an outfit she obviously stole from Grogu- it is his little outfit he wears -it’s even ripped on the shoulders from her force fitting into little Baby Yoda’s tunic/toga thingy. And why did everyone think the clock meant Matt Smith was returning? (Ah I bet it’s on 11:00 or something, will have to rewind and check). I typically don’t get into these multimedia events, but happy for the fans who enjoy such things. But may check it out if it sounds decent, regardless of the trailer.
I tried to keep up with all the parts of Timelord Victorious, but I think I lost track and gave up. I wish it was all available in one simple package, kind of like a multimedia box set, but as far as I'm aware that isn't a thing. Please let it be a thing.
I saw the teaser and was just curious ... but then, it's Doctor Who and as a fan of classic, once it got over here, I remember the rubber suit monsters and stuff even with Tom Baker and forward. I'm just waiting for the show to be on Disney+ and wishing they'd release the entire available Classic era on there as well ...

this feels like the same quality as a 1990s CD-ROM game where the cutscenes are filmed on a green screen with people in costumes but pixely, and the gameplay graphics are very flat.
I've actually thought for a while now that some of the show's best potential spin-off material could be based around a time-travelling assassin - which makes it even more frustrating to see what they've done here. I expect that a time-travelling assassin story is only going to be cool and interesting if it takes itself seriously, with great action, stunts, and likely a slightly darker tone. Instead, they've seemingly done the exact opposite by casting an upbeat comedian that might spend more time cracking jokes during a fight than actually fighting. "Hi - I'm Doom. Blame my mother..", "Someone sent death...literal death!", "A lot of flames!!!", they threw three insanely unfunny quirky joke lines in there in less than a minute, and that does really concern me.
I'm not going to trash too hard on the trailer's budget/CGI, because it seems more like an early pitch thing, but it's just an incredibly uninspired reveal. I don't know what's up with the marketing team behind this one, but in what world does anyone still think trailers with characters just explaining the plot to the audience are a good idea? You've got to actually show some proof of concept instead of just reading the concept, otherwise the audience isn't going to care. It's that "treat the audience like they're children" marketing style, which isn't the type of audience that watched RTD's prior Doctor Who seasons. It makes me think this show will be aimed at younger audiences, which is just a disappointing use of the idea and also frustrating considering it hasn't been expressly described that way yet. Doctor Who's base show is already fairly family-friendly and lighthearted (most of the time), they need to give us something with a little more tonal variety. Is there a chance that this show releases and is fantastic and perfectly nails whatever tone it's going for? Possibly, but I'm struggling to picture that outcome, in all honesty.
Science fiction used to be a niche thing. Meaning there wasn’t usually huge profits in it. Therefore it used to attract mostly passionate people that loved Science Fiction.
Now Science Fiction is a mainstream thing. Meaning there are huge profits in it. Therefore it now attracts many many people that are not exactly in it for the passion. People that only see the superficial layers because they never cared to look deeper.
Hence, we get this kind of crap. And I don’t mean the low cost aspect of it (that was part of it in the past). But the lack of creativity to use such limitations to its advantage, like you’d see so many shows do when Science Fiction was a niche. The “found footage” idea that a fan apparently gave in the comments reflects this, I think.
As a Whovian who's watched the soul of my favorite show get flushed right down the toilet by the BBC (and Chibbers specifically), I wish I could say I still possessed enough tosses to actually be disappointed in the trailer... but I can't. I've come through the other side of disappointment and resentment, and I've landed here, at knowing apathy. I understand there are folks excited about seeing Tennant back in the role and about Davies being back at the helm. If that's you, more power to you. I just can't get excited about the show after seeing several seasons of neurotic, soulless virtue signaling walking around in the skin suit of the franchise that meant so much to me. The trailer looks genuinely awful, but it doesn't bother me because it's not my show anymore.
I don't get how or why they'd knock it so long before it's even out. They specifically have hid all details of the second episode. For all we know, the master disguised as 11 could shoot 12 in front of 9, and we'd never know because of NDAs and hidden shooting locations
Even i thought the marketing wasn't the best, I think if it was just an audio trailer it would have been fine (maybe not with the character just telling us the storyline, cause that's a bit lazy, put a bit of story explaining the story) but even I a classic who fan who really doesn't care much thought it looked visually bad.
Also I just don't care about the huge multi media events because they're just to hard to keep track of, I still have no idea where to start with tumelord victorious and at this point don't really care because it's a lot of work for a story that eventually ends back in the status quo. Plus I can't read books.
There is also the problem of just not caring about the fact that a new character who's the universes best assassin dying.
Part of the problem was the fans doing that thing where they instantly assume something that was highly unlikely and then hated anything else. I saw the teaser and instantly knew what was going to happen.
Really the bad marketing, which it is, and it's a fair criticism, won't put me off it, the main thing that puts me off it is the whole multi media event and at the moment just not really caring about the imminent death of the greatest assassin and I'm not really sure why the doctor would be either, unless this threat is going to harm others, I could see several incarnations being very much fine with it (a few wouldn't, like maybe 10 or 11 but most of the classic doctors, 9 & 12 in could see being very much well you deal business with death so deal with it, not sure about 13, considering her reaction to assassins though I'm guessing she'd fall into the latter but she also tried to not kill Tom Shaw, soaybe the former, saying that 11 also had his limits, like in dinosaurs on a spaceship or a town called mercy or let's kill Hitler, so maybe he'd also fit into the latter).
An audio trailer would have 100% been the way to go!
I think this will be a red herring to make it have a lot more hype surrounding it since Russel is smart when it comes to these things

I find the concept interesting and I'll wait for more info before I decide, but it looks like there will be a lot of media and unless you're loaded, it's not budget friendly to get everything. And, I'm sorry to say it, but I'm not really getting "greatest assassin" from this character, Doom, so far. I'm getting friendly time agent or something. Like, this character could be friends with Jack Harkness and I can totally see them hanging out in an intergalactic bar. .I do think it's great that there's more going on for the 60th anniversary.

I'd love to see a throwback McGann series, with the correct writing it could be brilliant.
I mean at first I thought it looked like a Cbeebies trailer. I still do. But now I'm thinking, the project itself may not be half bad. Look, the graphics made me feel sick and that is not an exaggeration but, it's a multi-media project which means a lot of time and effort is clearly being put into it so perhaps they didn't have the time or budget to do a fancy trailer. Don't judge a book by its cover as they say. The trailer is just the cover. The book could be something entirely different.
Sooz is great and I'll broadside anyone says otherwise, but the best part of that Doom's Day video were the comments. Doctor Who expanded media stuff is great and literally kept the series going while it was off the air, but something that looked as cheap as that isn't going to bring in more fans in my opinion.
I don't read the magazines anymore, the last Doctor Who game I played was the adventure games and I don't listen to the audio dramas. I probably won't partake in this but yeah the concept is cool. The huge build up to this was pretty stupid on their part though. I mean Doctor Who fans have become pretty salty over everything that has happened in recent years so what did they expect? Obviously this was going to get memed on.
I would recommend the big finish audios (if you can afford them) they're normally worth the money (you get a few bad stories like with anything but they're the minority), some of my all time favourite doctor who stories are audios (spare parts, to the death, legacy of time, the unbound series, etc)
The costume department at the BBC has really gone downhill.
I'm in two minds about this. I read the comics and I've just started listening to the Big Finish audios after all these years so I'm aware that all that stuff isn't totally essential to watch the main series but for the 60th anniversary I would have thought they would have done much more. I might give it a go and see what it's about but I'm not expecting much 😢

It honestly seems like a cool story but they absolutely marketed it poorly. They should've at least shown some of the books, comics audio and other multimedia things in the story. Seems like Time Lord Victorious was given a lot more care and attention in its launch trailer then here. Because it does seem cool but they've probably already turned off people which is sad.

I've been a life long fan of the show since the very first day of broadcast in 1963, so I can look past dodgy sets and low production values. Unfortunately I can't suspend my disbelief with this when it comes down to such bad miscasting and woeful acting ability. What age group is this trailer aimed at exactly, 5 year olds?
I don't get the hate personally. It's a multi media event, it costs nothing to not consume it (literally, because it'll cost a lot to consume it lol). I'm one of the few weird people that actually got to experience a lot, most even, of Time Lord Victorious and genuinely I had such a blast piecing it all together and making sense of it. I know I'm the only one who actually did, which is why to me it seems so obvious that DD is addressing all the criticisms directly. There'll be no question about the order it's meant to be read/watched/listen/etc'd in because even if something does get delayed it tells us where in the 24 hours its set. Also instead of following 8, 9, 10, the Kotturuh, the Daleks or Brian we're just following one character. So I expect I'm going to have a good time with this and if it's not for you simply don't consume it. I'm not upset that they teased with the clock because... obviously they want to market it? It generated a ton of buzz so it worked. Unfortunately the teaser is... MEGA cheap looking... but it hasn't dissuaded me too much. I like seeing Doctor Who Twitter up in flames actually!

I think people are upset because besides the wooden delivery and cheap effects of that short, people were hoping for the show to come back swinging with a revitalised showrunner and big budget, and the signs so far are that it's actually going to be a bit cheap and embarrassing. Even the effects and acting for the next episode look pretty bad. And as for "The Maestro", or a drag act dressed up like evil Bette Midler..it's not what people were hoping for.
But some will like it, and there's no harm in saying that a show isn't really for you any longer, and I think if I'm honest, the show reached that point for me long ago. No skin of my nose to let those who do enjoy the new show do so.

Matt Smith isn't going to be announced. I don't see why they would do that. Keeping it a surprise until the specials airs and then seeing Matt Smith showing his face when we don't expect it. Would be more impactful, and plus, it hasn't really been leaked that he has come back to the role. So why would they give that away. I can definitely see him in the 60th, maybe for a cameo. Just because the fanbase is demanding his return like mad. But yeah, of course Matt is back. It is pretty obvious. But, yeah... be patient. It will come. I will eat my words if he doesn't appear

The countdown clock is one of Chibnalls tropes and the music is evocative of Akinola's also it's made by BBC Studios not Bad Wolf who are the main producers now

Most people's dislike, has more to do with the low key connection to 60 years of Doctor Who and the simple fact, they're focusing this on a character who isn't THE DOCTOR.
And why do they need this character Doom anyway? She's a lazy parody of Ace or Benny.
WHY NOT have either of those two?
1. That would automatically get fans liking the idea.
2. Fans would be more likely to buy the many stories.
OR they should've introduced Doom years ago, with the purpose of building her as a character and her popularity with the audience.
Then, she'd be already known to Doctor Who fans. They'd be aquatinted with her back story and any new fans would be available to catch up.
All of this comes across as badly thought out and done in a very lazy way.

I hadn't seen this teaser trailer. It does feel like its supposed to be an interactive children's television series rather then a Doctor Who Special.
I hope this is just to tide over, the over-eager fans who can't wait until November. It just feels like filler, the stories might be good. But, without know who's involved and where, and how. It's a bit of a gamble.
The Death character could be a Quantum Shade like what Ashildr had in Face The Raven. That would also explain Doom having a 24 hour countdown. just a lil theory i came up with tho, and not very likely
I get that we like/dislike what we like/dislike. Sometimes I just get a bit tired of the armchair quarterback hate reaction. I’m not a writer or marketer, so I’m not in a position to criticize. I’m a consumer of entertainment. I’m just gonna do that and enjoy what I enjoy. I think this could be fun. I’m glad you seem to have an open mind about it.
I'll be honest it's genuinely looking like a weird down with the kids drug sobriety thing... I mean the music at the end makes the whole thing a meme. I mean unless it was made via Brian Butterfields production studio I really can't see how it's taken seriously. I mean if doom is in various media formats n isn't exactly live action unmasked its fine but ultimately with her only having 24 appearances it's not surprising they would just push the voice actor to do the trailer herself than raise can expectations with a different face and voice.
The answer is simply that doctor who fans won’t accept that the show is also made for young children.

I mean, in 2012, I tried to get the Assimilation² comics and it was hard because my local shops that sold comics didn't want to sell it. So I just feel like this is a waste.

In short, they've done projects like this before (e.g. Time Lord Victorious) so for those who are into all the audio and literature content it'll probably be pretty cool, but they shot themselves in the foot a bit by overhyping it and then dropping that god-awful trailer.
Just quietly releasing a simple animated trailer Big Finish-style would've been enough and wouldn't have stirred up any negativity

Not a fan of the concept. This lady's an assassin and we're supposed to be rooting for her? Why?
And if she is supposedly like the universe's most deadly assassin being chased down by literal death... why is she so bubbly and happy? Is she talking to kids? Is that it? Why? What's the point in trying to teach kids that assassination is cool? Flying around in a blue box and helping people is cool. Why not stick to that. 🤔
I have mixed thoughts about it yeah because like I want to check it out it seems interesting BUT as Troy said it sounds like it would end up being extremely expensive to keep up with. I think the BBC just shot themself in the foot here by calling it "Doom's Day" and putting a teaser for a teaser everywhere because people might just go "omg Rose is coming back for a short?!". I know that the BBC didn't want to spend too much on something that not many people would even want to check out but they could've made it look better by just getting some uni students involved who want to get their names out there.

People do nothing but whinge, instead of waiting to see the full content, they get a glimpse and are off to social media to say 'What is this shite?' before even giving it a chance. It ruins the possibility of having fun side projects because people just want the exact same thing all the time. And of course the first thing they do is criticise the actors involved who are just doing a job. See the whole thing through. I remember the wilderness years only too well. But unfortunately instead of being critical in a constructive way, people launch into these attacks. I wish I had a TARDIS to go back in time or into a more enlightened future! Speaking of constructive criticism, what's with holding the lav mic in your hand? I see a lot of people doing this, very odd. Great video though, I agree with a lot of what you said. This video is a prime example of how to raise any concerns without being an arse (like a lot of people on Twitter etc.).
I just don't like how they're doing it across multi media. It didn't work with time lord victorius, it won't work here. It's just a cash grab and stops some viewers from having a part of the story. A blind viewer can't get the full story, a deaf person can't get the full story. It's also going to extremely expensive

They really shouldn't have had anything akin to WHOA MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT ATTACHED TO THE 60TH on it unless they had a big trailer or reveal to do with that and then they could have dropped a couple of small things a day or two after similar to this. I saw the clock and I'm not one to speculate or read into anything I was just like oh cool, I'm excited! And then this is undeniably naff and a bit bizarre and doesn't match the tone of the teaser stuff. That was like modern music and a bit ominous and vague and this is goofy. Also calling it Doomsday... I know that could be a generic title but even if you're not a massive nerd and don't know every title of every episode like us lot, if someone asked you to name the title of a doctor who episode you'd likely say Doomsday. It's one of the most famous episodes. So confusing and weird.
Now while I am not going to absolutely rost this trailer I do feel it has given me a bad impression and hasn’t captivated me, now I was one of the people who really enjoyed the time lord victorious mainly because it introduced the dalek restoration empire (aka the best dalek empire) the launch trailer for that was exiting and left us with questions and teased what was to come yet this just feels a bit dull I am probably going to see what comes out and then see if I’ll buy any of it if it looks interesting
If anyone has ever seen any of Sooz stuff she posts on her twitter, usually impressions of celebrities and politicians and so on, this trailer looks like one of those shits, which is something I think she does in front of a greenskin in her house. It works for those one woman shows, but here, it just looks very cheaply made given what it's meant to be.
Don't forget we already have Once and Future this year as well. That's another project to coincide with the 60th.

I think it’s a combination of things.
1. The multimedia story telling has been done before with Time Lord Victorious and just seems like another money making enterprise to sell more extortionately priced merchandise.
2. The trailer does look really amateurish and did not make a good first impression. No disrespect to Sooz as she’s a great comedian but it does have all the makings of a GCSE drama project.
3. Think we were all just expecting something more for the 60th

A mask and a voice changer would be such a simple change to improve things quite a lot. Her face and voice is just more drama student than deadliest assassin.
Dreadful really is all I can say about that trailer. Not the fault of the actress but she has been miscast and it was very naff. Big Finish have been doing amazing cgi trailers for a while. Something like that with a voice over would have hit the mark. It felt like CBBC did this without RTD's consent or he left the office junior in charge and they had a not so bright brainwave.

I think that was because of the 11, but that was the time it was announced!

@@sarahglover3286 yeah, the moment I saw it I was like, yep a lot of people will jump to the unlikely assumption that Matt Smith is going to be revealed and will immediately hate the thing that is actually shown. It also doesn't help that what was shown wasn't very good marketing.

To be fair to the actor I don't think she was given any direction other than stand their and read these lines. The "script" didn't really give her much to do.

The video forthcoming being from Australia I know to be Whovians. It aired on the Australian National Broadcaster hosted by Rove McManus and usually 4 guests (2 of who are there most of the time present). Many non DW fans actually liked it and an awful lot of fans hated it. I was somewhere in the middle until the year they were screening after each episode of series 11. No one ever seemed to have the courage to make any even slightly critical remark or analysis and it really ended up just being a rather sad children's fan fest complete with tacky segments etc... I appreciate that the majority of viewers don't want to watch a heavy DW analysis show however this was extreme lightweight and outright childish. I am glad it is not returning.
I didn't know about this until Jan 2024! Why? because I bought a magazine by chance that sent me to a website... where the links took me to only ONE hardback out of all of the books, and ONE audiobook. With no publicity that I saw when this was first out (on TV, radio, or anywhere except, one assumes DWM - I could only read the free First Hour and last episodes, and couldn't go to a single place and order all the parts in between as a single transaction. Typical LOUSY marketing and publicity - I now have a gap in my entire collection of every book, graphic novel, audiobook, and DVD/etc of the series and spin-offs. BBC, you messed up, big time - if you cannot keep lifetime fans informed, it is the Big Finish for you...

I think the thing that rubs me the wrong way is that this is the announcement, this is what is supposed to get you interested in the concept and it’s super rough. The green screen looks zero budget and the acting/writing is very cringe which, considering Doom is supposed to be the main character of this story arc? It’s not a great sign. I’ll keep my ear to the ground and see what people have to say when it releases but as of right now, my interest is yet to peak
It's a trailer for an audio/comics/books project, I think it's better if it's a cheaper trailer, no point in splashing the cash on something that'll not be live action and be separate from the show, bar her meeting up with these "fan favourites". People have really overreacted! Well, the ones for some reason raging about it are are!

If I was the individual doing the sign-off on this, I wouldn't cancel it, but I'd definitely say this couldn't be put out until it was likely had a reshoot... Yes, there would be additional expense, but absolutely necessary so it doesn't sink before it starts. Next piece of content about this is gonna need to be a step up imo. Believe they need to employ someone proficient with VFX/CGI/Greenscreening/Colour-grading, etc, as a priority for this.
In my opinion, putting something out at that quality isn't a good move, not reflective of the goals of Doctor Who brand direction and especially quality going forward.
How was this viewed as 'OK'... There are fan films that do a better job! (Yes those are passion projects, but this is being put out across official Doctor Who social media channels!)
Just frustrated and disappointed as a long term fan of Doctor Who... 🤌
