A couple small details regarding Min and her meeting: she tells the bartender at the inn she doesn't know who she is meeting, and it was Liandrin that set it up in the first place.
Right!!! So I was here wondering yooo was Liandrin a fricking Darkfriend this whole time!? Was the meeting she set up the meeting with Ishamael? Or was that all happening in her head?
@Abundanc3beats I think it's safe to say, now, that Liandrin is a DF. And the implications of that are immense. A powerful Aes Sedai, near the top of her ajah inside the White Tower itself, is working for the dark.
Lord have mercy things are really heating up! The implications are what blew my mind the most because how long has she been working at this and what are her motivations for working for the Dark One? And this also means she has known who the Two Rivers kids were this entire time? I almost want to do an entire rewatch of the series with this new revelation because it changes so much.@@TheStonerification
Liandrin straight up lied to Mat couple eps ago. Said there was no mention of him at all in Perrins letter yet nynaeve literally read his name out loud 30secs before she lied to Mat.
@freebird6591 I agree that that was an indication of her allegiances, but there was still some room to doubt. She said there was "... no mention of Mat...." However, that could be interpreted as Liandrin not specifically mentioning him. Like, the letter definitely has Mat's name in it, but she just didn't say it out loud when reading the letter to him. A bit of wiggle room in there.
Ishmael isn't the dark one he's the dark ones top lieutenant.
I am so confused by that, I thought he was the dude in the whole of season 1! And Moiraine said the dark one took her powers at the end? But it was Ishamael?
@@joshuajones8291 yes you got it all! It was Ishamael the whole time in season 1 and yes Moiraine thought (wrongly) that it was the dark one. But she corrects herself early in season 2.("we set the dark ones strongest lieutenant free")
The books were filled with the usage of unreliable narrating, rumours, misunderstandings due to bad communication or lack of communication. Kind of a trademark for the books. Less so in the show but it´s still there so not everything said (even by the ones we assume are the good ones) is always correct....
@joshuajones8291 yes they thought Ishmael was the dark one, and obviously Rand is supposed to be the one to defeat him, but it wasn't going to be that easy, as you found out. Rand using his power and an object that helps increase his power actually set free Ismael, who is not actually the dark one, but his top lieutenant. He manipulate them into setting him free from his prison which was already eroding. Cuendelar which was supposed to be unbreakable was the seal on Ishmael's prison.

Ishmael has often been confused as the dark one because of how powerful he is and you can see he has an ego.
Does the real dark one has a physical appearance? will we ever see him later? does he have a human appearance or? im afraid to google cuz i dont want to stumble upon spoilers :D

14:47 She's in the poor part of town looking like an AES SEDAI. Usually that's the best armor the sisters have when travelling, and why their rings are so prominent. It's especially important for Moiraine to keep up appearances since she can't use the One Power. Being Aes Sedai is also the most powerful weapon left to her, able to open any door and clear any political obstacle in her path.
I'm almost certain that Selene was using her power to manipulate Rand. He said no several times to her in Ep 2 and then he abruptly changed his mind after she touched him. He said he didn't wanna go with her, then she touched him and his face changed before it cut away. She's making him do and feel things. She's gross.
Such a good point! She clearly has powers as we saw in this episode, to say she wouldn't use those to manipulate him to change his mind is to be more naïve than Rand lol!
If that is true that I'll have to take back some of my Rand slander 🤣🤣😭

In S1, Moiraine tells the truth to the Whitecloaks that she's a lady 'from a fallen House.' (Not sure if it's a spoiler but) Their Uncle singlehandedly plunged the nation into a catastrophic war. Imagine the nation's most hated family begging on your door for food and forgiveness. That was Anvaere's quest, climbing her way up from a ravine to being back on top of the crown.
I loved moraine's sister too, she had some great moves, putting big sister in her place 😂😂

Love your reactions! I think you missed some of the dialogue between Min and Ishamael and that's caused a misunderstanding about what deals she had made and with whom, which may make future episodes more confusing. When Ishamael first appeared in her dream, she asked who he was (demonstrating she hadn't met him before) and when he said who he was, she freaked out, said "no, Liandrin didn't tell me" and "the deal's off" (i.e. the deal she'd made with Liandrin, wherein she had agreed to take Mat to the inn, meet someone there - who turned out to be Ishamael - and then follow that person's instructions on where to take Mat next in exchange for having her visions removed) and Ishamael explained that Liandrin had promised to take her visions away and how could Min think an Aes Sedai was capable of that.
So Min has not been working as a double agent with Liandrin on one side and then Ishamael behind her back. She's been following the terms of her deal with Liandrin, whereupon she has been blindsided by Ishamael turning up as the 'contact' that Liandrin said would meet her, and then intimidated/lured by him into continuing with that deal when she wanted to back out because of who he is.
Okay see I knew I wasn't crazy!!! This is the same gist I got from their meeting. That Liandrin is the one who is the actual traitor not Min! Woooo things are really heating up!!
@@Abundanc3beats Definitely not crazy! And they positioned that scene right after the one where Liandrin blasted Nynaeve, Egwene and Elayne into the wall and knocked them out (after having effectively lured Nynaeve to leave the tower).
I love the scene outside the cabin with the Fade: "Ok, there's a perfectly good cabin over there, but we're going to need you two to sleep outside for this scene because Fade CGI is cheaper in the dark. Action!"

Well, when I was younger, I did it from time to time, choosed to sleep outside in the nature, not often. But it happened. And no, not on a campingtrip of anything, with the house just over there..
Yes Perrin has been sening pictures to the wolves for a long time.
Even back in the opening of S1 Ep1 we hear Rand and his father Tam hear wolves howl and they comment that there's a lot of wolves around recently. So the show has placed hints as early as that.

When Bayle Domon sold the poem to Moiraine he had a piece of a broken moon seal for sale. the poem had been engraved on the seal. He said he got it a couple of months earlier. The moon is the symbal for Lanfear so we know it has her set free. So Lanfear/Selene has been free for 3+ months. I'm really liking your take on things.
Hopper is my new favorite thing 😭 Given that the entire story is about trauma, I love that he chose to bond with Perrin because they both lost a "mate"

It's cool when a non-reader notices something but kind of dismisses it as unintentional or innocuous. I think it'll make a rewatch more satisfying for you further down the line.

So, the scene of Rand being born in S1 Ep7 was during the Aiel War, which was 20-ish years ago (however old Rand is). That war was started by the King of Cairhien--who was Moiraine and Anvere's uncle. The war he started ended with his death, which lost the throne and left the country (and House Damodred) in ruins. If Moiraine is 70 or 80, she would have left for the tower over 60 years ago, so what happened re the war would not have been a situation she left her house in, though she obviously didn't come back to help it seems after the war was over, when they probably needed her most. Although, a theory could be that Moiraine helped them from afar somehow, kinda like how she "helped" Rand in the background by making sure that Logain was transferred to Cairhien (and thus more accessible to him to learn from than at the tower).
Moraine might not have gone straight from Accepted to hunting the Dragon Reborn in the show, like in the prequel book.
The hadori that Lan wears around his head is a part of his culture, not wether his hair is up or down. 😊

You’re _by far_ my favorite reactor to WoT. Not only are you’re expressions and comments absolute *gold* (chefs kiss) that I constantly have to rewind, but as a non-booker it’s so fun to see the world unfold for you. Plus you’re not jaded by the changes (absolutely necessary when adapting 4.4 million words).
Also, not to get morbid but I lost my good friend who originally got me reading the WoT books shortly before the show started. I was hoping to watch it with him 😢 (though he probably would have hated it). Anyway, seeing your joy (and shock… MY GIRL SAID LIGHTNING!) makes me happy.
I agree with your take on Elyas. I think he feels comfortable enough to share with Perrin, so now Perrins' story arc can move forward from the trama he suffered on winternight. If Hopper continues to share visions, it looks like Perrin will be more accepting of whats happening and not get confused about what is going on.
The visions that Min (not Ming) gets are not a form of channeling. It's just a random ability that the Wheel weaves into certain people's lives just like Perrin and Elyas being Wolfbrothers, presumably due the Last Battle being imminent (if the conversation between Alanna and the other Aes Sedai a couple episodes is accurate). As Moiraine likes to say, "The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills."
An Aes Sedai had a similar power, and had a vision of a child being born near Dragonmount. A vision so powerful it killed her. Which set off Moraine on her hunt for the Dragon Reborn.
@@caucajunsaint1474 Aes Sedai can also have visions, but it's not exclusive to them. Min gets visions but she can't channel. For one thing, if she could, either Moiraine or Liandrin would have had her training at the White Tower instead of being used as a pawn in the lower cells.

Do remember the bearded guy is not the Dark One. Moiraine told you that's Ishamael, the most powerful of the Forsaken, the Dark One's strongest lieutenants.
Min did not know who she was meeting she said to the bartender. Also Ishamael says did you really think an aes sedai could take your visions? I think min genuinely thought she was only in with Liandrin. But it does have implications for Liandrans allegiances.

Telling Nynaeve not to do anything rash was a pretty obvious move. I imagine that as Nynaeve grows older, she'll learn not to be so easily manipulated. (Not a spoiler, since I haven't read the books, just an observation about growing older.) And Egwene can go or not, but I imagine that the daughter-heir can't just scooting off across the continent without repercussions for the Aes Sedai.
Yes... novices are not allowed to leave TAR Valon though in the show it seems like they're not even allowed to leave the tower. The heir to the most powerful nation disappearing on the Aes Sedais' watch is def NOT a good look

you are saying rand is not using his head but clearly neither does nynaeve then as they both put themselves in the same situation basically. i would even say nynaeve is potentially in even bigger trouble with liandrin since we don't know what she wants. selene/lanfear did not look like she wanted to kill him or anything at least.
they were both questioning liandrin/selene in regards to their motivations etc. but it's just very hard to know in this world who can be trusted with what and they got caught out because they were extra vulnerable.
Quick clarification on some terminology
Dark One: the main villain. Essentially the devil. Not a person. Just...a sentient force?
Darkfriend: person who swore themselves to the Dark One. This includes ordinary people, not counting the Forsaken.
Forsaken: a group of extremely powerful channelers who were sealed for thousands of years until Rand accidentally released one of them (Ishamael) in s1ep8. Lanfear is another Forsaken. They serve the Dark One.
Her name is Min btw, rhymes with chin. Short for Elmindreda actually...
Liandrin set up that meeting between Min and Ishamael. That is what their conversation meant.

As enjoyable as seeing your reaction is and hearing your comments what i really appreciate is your very insightufl views on the characters. Bravo. One small correcction, i think its said Moiraine was gone from her home for around 20 years. More will be revealed on the issue of their 'uncle ruining them'. its quite important for a lot of people.
Cairhien has some history that revolves around Moiraine's family. She was in the tower when shit went down, not that she was running or hiding just not present. And then tower business kept her busy for the past 20 odd years (the whole searching for the dragon reborn thing).
Its best not to think of the Aes Sedai colors having a plan. Unless they are specifically tasked to do something by the tower or their Ajah, each Aes Sedai can be very independent and can do whatever they like in their free time. And they have a lot of free time. So just like the Blues have no idea what Moraine is doing, the Red Aes Sedai have no idea of what plots Liandrin is spinning on her own.
This is all true. Although it is important to know that in general the Ajahs do have specific focuses. The Reds on male channelers, Greens on preparing for the Last Battle, Yellows on healing, etc... The Blue Ajah in particular has a focus on having intimate knowledge of the politics of the world and what houses are in power how that power shifts over time. Moiraine would have been well aware of all the troubles her family faced and the fact that she did nothing to help them makes her sister's anger even more understandable. It's not just that she left and ignored them, she actively made the choice not to help.
@@eolair And she was fully aware of the rare opportunity the Blues and the whole of Tar Valon had, to 'own' the nation upon realizing an Aes Sedai had very good chances of being its Queen.

The show already had an official aftershow for the first season hosted by Matt Hatch from The Dusty Wheel. They're just not doing one THIS season due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes (aside from the aftershow sometimes having cast interviews, Matt and his panelists have all said they stand in solidarity with the strikers) and won't be doing any official content for Amazon until the strike is over.

Regarding the starting audio... most have us had this happen, when the studio mic is not connected and the built in mic takes over. Everyone on the Zoom meeting eventually asks "Where are you? Your audio is off a bit" and then I realize what up.
Min and Mat are a fun duo. They're the only two to go by nicknames. Fun fact: Min's full name is Elmindreda Farshaw. 😂 Matrim Cauthon is far easier on the tongue😅

If you wanted to see the real influence of the dark one, look no further than her eyes in the last shot. Book readers will recognize black specs, called Saa. The Dark one has empowered her with a fraction of his essence. Like the corruption which is black, the Dark One chooses to bestow Saa upon certain unlucky souls. Apparently in this telling of the wheel, she can heal herself from near death (In the book, she was mortal and could actually be killed, and only revived by the dark one in a new body). For show purposes they have gone away with that concept to make it easier for viewers to recognize her in the series. I'm fine with that.

Aes Sedai generally live to their mid 300's. While "seniority" within their ranks is generally done by strength in the One Power, elder Aes Sedai still command a certain amount of respect. When an Aes Sedai begins getting even a little gray in their hair it is a sign of _great_ age. There is one thing I'll nitpick the show on, Sheriam Sedai (the mistress of novices) is shown with a full head of gray hair even though she is only in her mid 50's. Again, I try not to nitpick the show since it's an adaptation, but does kind of screw with the lore.
That definitely messes with things cause how are we supposed to guess their ages and ranks by appearances. They should have dyed her hair a different color. I agree with you on that.

I think that Moiraines sister looks to be about 70 without the wig, so Moiraine should be with 5-10years of each other. I suppose they could be within 1.5years.
I was judging by the painting in Moiraine's room. If that is supposed to be her and her sister, there looks to be a good 8-10 years between them, but who knows 🤣

Great reaction ! i think this is best episode so far. You covered most of what I was think except that I get the impression that Moraine arrogance is her armour, we see that aes sedai are feared as godesss among men, l mean in regular society as well as well as men. I think it is possible that Logain could be correct that men are not automatically evil and insane by natural channeling . We knowit is that source is tainted. only that if we recall last season cold open the male channeler was saying they Sedai were trying to close off the dark one & the lady sedai said it was not poossible or risky. We did see black covering Logain weave and butRand are brighter with black coils....I just think that when we see Ishmael his weaves are pure green 💚...no maybe there is another reason. And lanfear or Salene her weaves were clear vibrations
The only other idea I had was that since time moves so fast for Aes Sedai Morain did not mean to shut out her family or I mean she did but not maliciously. I think her slightly arrogant came from being the star pupil in noble home then going off to have Aes Sedai training the lesson we learn thru Nynaeve and Leandrin convo is that the White Tower is so corrupted with ego and actual power that having loved ones can serve as weakness . That is the more connections you have outside of the tower life the more your enemy can ensnare you. Min did not seem to know about a deal with dark ones lord-lieutenant
It seems like he can jump people dreams but he also can use his powers in dreams so it's almost as if they are astral projections.

Lan wears his hair down, because he feels safe in this setting. If you see him pick up his sword and go to work, the hair will definately be tied out of the way. Most true fighters, would have it shaved tight.
In the books Moiraine is like 45 but i think they aged her up to like 70 something?

The scene where Ishamael releases Selene/Lanfear from her prison is a flashback. She has been around off screen for a while. Its very important to realize that while Moiraine is guiding Rand, the Dark One's forces are trying to get near him for their own purposes. I hope this helps you.

the way verin describes what moraine is going through also applies to logain. you seemed to react a little less than sympathetically.
I would likely have more empathy for Logain if he hadn't been k!lling ppl willy nilly with his power and over the top narcissistic. Bear in mind that I go by what is shown in the show - but I'm sure there are Aes Sedai that have done bad things too. But as Moiraine is *currently* one of the the protagonists I empathize with her more 🤷🏾♀️
@@AishaWilson no worries just making the observation. it's one of the reason's i love the story so much: it'll show how different character's face similar problems, how people around them react, and how we as viewers/readers react.

Nothing in S2 E4 of the Wheel of Time show is in the books. Nothing. It is all fanfiction by Rafe Judkins and the writers of the show.
And who cares?
Not even true. The stuff with the girls in the tower is fairly accurate from what I recall, minus a few characters I'm sure we'll meet next season. And they finally introduced Perrins' wolfbrother stuff, and Hopper! Like stop complaining. They were never going to be able to do everything in 8 episodes and I think you don't appreciate just how much trouble the production of S1 had that has ripples onto the rest of the show. Covid, Amazon execs cutting the show's length last minute that resulted in many of the rewrites people hate on, Matts actor leaving mid production too contributed to this. This is a show that needs 15-20 episode seasons but Amazon will never give us that.
Well that's just not accurate
Adaptations are not completely accurate. Not everything un the books(internal dialogues, multiple pages of description of what someone is wearing ect) will translate onto screen well. To make this well made things have to be adapted to work best for the tv form of media.
