Lanfear and Ishamael are arguably "the nice" Forsaken. Ishamael joined the shadow for philosophical reasons, Lanfear for love (kind of). Neither are truly sadistic and neither wanted to kill Rand. Ishamael wanted Rand to turn to the shadow because he thinks that's the only way to fully release the Dark One and destroy the wheel (and end suffering). Lanfear just wanted him back.
The other Forsaken turned to the shadow for more selfish reasons. Power, hubris, jealousy or in some cases sadism. Any of them would be more than happy to kill Rand.
Lanfear declares for the shadow in like the pre breakings Vatican and helps kill billions. The show is a hate letter to the books and even Brandon Sanderson is now tearing it up.
As book readers we knew Hopper was going to die at some point, we didn't know it would be now but it always hurts.
Moggy isnt stronger than Lanfear but she's called The Spider for a reason, she be sneaky and if you watch that scene again, take note of the lighting difference after she leaves. She literally trapped the whole room to catch Lanfear and she could just hold her. You notice she doesn't dare turn her back as she leaves 😊
Exactly, the fact that she was spinning a web as Lanfear entered and saw her was another nice point, as well as her trapping Lanfear in literally a web.
If you think Lanfear was good at manipulating events, Moghedien is just as good but she will make sure to not be a piece in the pussle herself so taht if things fall apart she is far away from the chaos and any danger it might cause.
@@Ferdawoon and they're playing her as insane, which is a nice twist compared to the books, that I look forward to seeing.
Plus I have seen the actress playing her before and it should be a treat to watch.
And if you are a fan of The Expanse show, the actress who played Avesorala is coming on board next season playing a certain Red sister who likes flowers so I am really looking forward to next season.
@Finnssssss I really wanted her to play Cadsuane instead of that certain red sister. Oh well. Just glad she is going to be in the show. She screams Aes Sedai.

She was like wtf are you all talking about until finally Rafe stepped in and told her he has had a part in mind for her for a while. They talked privately after and then low and behold the leaks if her in Prague and then actually on set started coming in a few months ago lol

Enjoyed the reaction. Lanfear didnt want to free the other forsaken she wanted the seals to be thrown into the ocean so that nobody could break them and free them by the way. Loved the episode roll on s3.
I like how Mat solved his dagger problem in a very Mat kind of way, and Egwene solved her problem in a very Egwene kind of way.
It was so good to have the original five back together.
The episode did feel a bit rushed, but the Heroes of the Horn part was the best.
I did miss Liandrin, but there was a lot of Lanfear, so that's something.
The Horn scene was one of the very best of the show so far, if not the best.
Uno deserves this promotion.

Actually a "mat" kind of way would not be tricked by a forsaken to hurt Rand as book Mat was lucky and a loyal friend not this darkfriend hate letter Mat by Rafe who has a broken family life, is unlucky, betrays friends, and is tricked.
btw, they didn't stop because of the strikes. WoT is an Equity production, not SAG AFTRA. They didn't do promo in solidarity, but they kept on filming.

You remember the little girl in season 1 who and also her family were slaughtered by a Fade? She had a doll called Birgitte - a hero of the Horn … ;)

That moment where you were so happy and clapping because Hopper came, 😕 I just knew it was going to hit you hard. Having read the books I at least was able to expect it coming since Hopper died in Book 1.
And it still was awful!
This episode was perfection. I cried my eyes out from the moment mat said "I remember" till the end. The whole episode is the best thing ive ever seen on screen, and the most emotion ive felt over tv or a movie. This is the wheel of time at its core. Thank you for experiencing it with us this turn of the wheel :) your insight and passion for the characters is encapsulating
Out of the night Hopper came, and Perrin was one with the wolf. Hopper, the cub who had watched the eagles soar, and so badly wanted to fly through the skies as the eagles did. The cub who hopped and jumped and leaped until he could leap higher than any other wolf, and who never lost the cub's yearning to soar through the sky. Out of the night Hopper came and left the ground in a leap, soaring like the eagles.
This has been such a fun journey watching the series along with you, love your insights 📯

On the horn: Prophecy says it has to be blown at the last battle so everyone assumes the Dragon has to blow it but in fact anyone can.
And if you’re intereste, Mat speaks in the old tongue - Dovie andi se tovya sagain, which means it’s time to toss the dice 🎲
On the skills with the staff: this is half Mat/half memories. Farmers in the two rivers are generally all skilled with the staff and have a competition every year. If you go and watch the Wheel of Time Origins episodes (through X-ray on Season 1, they are short animated stories and great) there’s a story that gives some context (called the greatest warder).
Think you’re right that Nynaeve would be too overpowered to have her skills too early!
Elayne is a sweetie pie. You’re gonna love her going forward.

In the books they did a batter job showcasing matts skill with a quarterstaff prior to gaining his memories, so there was deffinelty some underlying skill he had beforehand.

One interesting thing I am realizing is that on top of missing the show so much as I wait for season 3, I will also really miss watching my favorite show-only fans, like yourself, react to the show. You are absolutely a wonderful part of the fandom and I look forward to Season 3 with you!
I cried for Hopper!!! I cried for so many things in the show. I'm still emotional just watching you react to the show.
The thing about Hopper flying away is interesting because his name isn't actually Hopper, that's just how Perrin interprets the image that Hopper sent him. I don't recall his actual name but it does have something to do with flying.
I love how Elyas just told him “Close enough”. Wolf-speak was one thing I was really worried about in the show. There’s just no way to visually show something that metaphorical. It ended up looking pretty nice.

Lanfear had Moraine fulfill the prophecies of the dragon. It's not really what she wanted more than what was supposed to happen. She is in love with Lews, who is now Rand, that's her motivation she tried to get rid of the other Forsaken but her plan failed.
But then Lanfear is the only Forsaken that Rand would be the safest with tho, so despite the grooming, she can be counted on to protect him from the others

Couldn’t wait to see your reaction to this episode. And yes two years might be such a long wait for S3. Have you thought of just reading the books that the show has covered? Since there are differences, but the heart is the same and it would be like those scenes you miss of them having interactions together that the show couldn’t fit. You could for sure read the first two books and not be spoiled.

I just found your reaction series today and literally binged through both seasons worth of them. WoT has been my fav novel series since I was 13 - I absolutely love the show and have thoroughly enjoyed watching your reactions - you're incredibly insightful and it makes me so happy how much you've picked up along the way without having read any of the books.
I've got ADHD and POTS so I 120% understand brain fog - it sucks so much - but you did really well considering all the characters and places this series throws at you.
I look forward to when you're able to read the books and then rewatch the show to get to see all the easter eggs and foreshadowing that's been placed through out.

Yes, they did a superb job of capturing the main characters. There are minor differences in their backgrounds and some of their actions, but their hearts and souls are remarkably close to the books.
"superb job" did you read the books? Mat is lucky and a loyal friend with a good family life to boot. Perrin fridges his wife and is mopping after Egwene. Short Rand is sleeping with Lanfear and is shielded 6 times and put on his knees twice this season alone when the message by Lan to him is to stay on his feet and stand like a man. Barely any of the plot is intact at this point.
@@jonahdav9589 Hello, and thank you for your positive and constructive criticism. I have read the books many times and love them. Despite this (actually, because of this), I love the show. To be clear, I believe the show accurately portrays the heart of each of the main characters.
Mat is lucky in the books primarily starting in book 3. He recalls always having been a little lucky (a change in the show where he is not). Do you doubt that he will be lucky in the show at some point going forward? If so, you are not paying attention to the storytelling and foreshadowing conveyed by the show makers. Is Mat a loyal friend in the books? Sometimes, especially in later books. Prior to his Portal Stone experience, how loyal was he to his best friend in book 2 when he discovered what Rand is?
Perrin is not moping after Egwene in the show, especially in season 2. (Nor he is mopping after Egwene; that was Elayne’s job in season 2.) In season 1, Perrin was Egwene’s protector, overcompensating for his failure to protect his own wife. Perrin carries guilt, is instinctively protective of his friends, and is quiet and thoughtful-in both the books and the show.
Rand is not short in the show. He is 6’2”. Did you expect to find a 6’6” actor? According to Bard, only 0.4% of men are 6’6” or taller vs. 3.9% being 6’2” or taller. These are U.S. data, but the European data (since Josha Stradowski is European) are probably not that different. Casting a shorter (not short) actor expanded their pool of candidates by an order of magnitude. Prioritizing acting ability over height makes sense.
Rand is not the only one who fell to his knees when shielded. Logain too was on his knees. Even Moiraine was so when shielded. In the show, it seems that shielding may have this effect. Despite this, at the end of episode 8, Rand struggled to his feet, in fact recalling and implementing Lan’s advice with aplomb.
Is barely any of the plot intact? Hmmm, let’s see. A group of 5 very important people from the Two Rivers are prompted by Moiraine and Lan to leave their town in an effort to protect it. They encounter Trollocs, Fades, Darkfriends, Padan Fain, Ishamael, and Lanfear. They travel to Shadar Logoth and meet Mashadar, go through The Ways and encounter Machin Shin. They go to Fal Dara and to the Eye of the World. Rand discovers he’s the Dragon Reborn and will go mad channeling saidin. Egwene learns she can be Aes Sedai. Nynaeve falls in love with Lan, goes to the Tower to protect her friends rather than for ambition, and tackles a challenging test to become Accepted. Perrin learns he is a Wolfbrother. Mat steals a cursed dagger and struggles with insecurity about his worthiness. The team meets new friends, including Loial, Min, Elayne, Elyas, Uno, Ingtar, Masema, Agelmar, etc. They hunt Fain for the stolen Horn of Valere, see a Fade nailed to a door, a village with a vision of violence and buzzing flies, a woman in a window. Perrin struggles with peace (Tinkers) vs. violence (Whitecloaks). Ishamael messes with their minds, mostly via the Dream World. Lanfear seduces Rand and secretly undermines Ishamael’s plans. Egwene suffers Seanchan enslavement. Mat blows the Horn. Perrin kills a Whitecloak in blind rage after his friend Hopper is killed. Rand stabs Ishamael and is revealed to be the Dragon Reborn in Falme. I can go on and on about the major events that are true to the books.
Is everything book accurate? Hell no. This is an adaptation. They are taking 15 books with a word count that is unfathomable and trying to compress the story into (at most!) 64 one-hour episodes. Hence many changes. What did they preserve, however? The main characters. Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, and Nynaeve really feel to me like the book versions. They are reacting to this different (but actually quite similar when viewed from the big picture perspective) turning of The Wheel the way I would imagine they would.

Awesome reaction and commentary as always. I absolutely love that you understand the characters and give them their due. So many reactors hate on Nynaeve because they don’t understand her at all and it drives me crazy.
And they react like book Nynaeve was this awesome book character that the show ruined.

Egwene promised she was going to kill Renna and she kept her word. Also, in Episode 6, when Egwene was tortured & broken was titled "Eyes Without Pity", so it was perfect that that's the last thing Renna saw as she died.

So did i, i know this episode split reader opinion, but as an avid reader i loved it, and when Mat shouted 'time to toss the dice' i completely lost it.
I personally loved it. I had a lot of problems with season one to say the least but season 2 has been a blast. My only gripe honestly is the design of the horn, and that's so minor. @@tw7998
Ditto, tears streaming down my face. It's the only scene I will not watch, EVER again. It is very much part of WoT lore, but dying animals are just so awful to see... It was awful in a good way though!

I love your reactions and glad that you love the show. As a long time book reader, I found a few things that I didn't like at first, but after thinking through things, I was okay with it. However, I LOVE the finale. It was another extremely emotional experience for me with tears, laughter, frustration, excitement, anger, and more tears. It was great. Fantastic conclusion to S2, covering the second book, The Great Hunt (for the the horn and other stuff). We were holding our proverbial tongues not to spoil the ending for you. It happened as it mostly should. Note, WOT S3 will skip most of book 3 because plot lines are similar to book 2 with some different outcomes. S2 took parts of book 3 and advanced them a bit into this conclusion you saw. No qualms about this adaptation. The group is back together fighting oppression and slavery, while also combating elements/minions of the Dark One.
Where does this leave us for S3? We are now left in an world with all Forsaken, none of which share allegiances to Lews and Rand. Rand will need to overcome them with a little/lot of help from his friends (taken from beatles, haha). We have new opponents, new challenges, a murderous relationship between Perrin/Dain Bornhold, and Black Ajah to deal with. Prophecies must be be fullfilled. Book 4, which will be the foundation of S3, is one of the most popular books from the series. I have no idea how they will do the book justice, The Shadow Rising.
The Shadow Rising is my favorite book out of the Jordan part of the series.
I am looking forward to Perrin getting some development.

Just like we get to see a sympathetic side to most of the villains in this series, we also get to see the less-than-perfect side of the good guys. This will likely become some of the conflict as we move forward. Loved your reaction! And now we wait...
Lanfear is ruthless, but she is only intrested in Rand. The other Forsakens are just crazy and evil. Ishamael is normal compared to them, even though they are weaker than him.

Egwene/Renna: Renna ordered Egewene to fire on civilians, which she wouldn't ... and then Egwene saw the Whitcloaks..... but then she saw the Whitecloaks helping wounded off the street..... She felt Renna die... "whatever hurt the sul’dam feels, the damane feels twice over. Even to death." ... and still she did it. Hard choice.

Awesome reaction! This is my favourite episode of the season I think. It's so good!! Yeah, Rand is not someone that you want to get angry, nor do you want to get on his bad side. Or any of these characters actually. They do not take kindly to people who hurt them, or hurt the people they love.

So I will just say that I have enjoyed your reaction, and I'm glad you've been enjoying the show. It has been really nice seeing the positive feedback from people who have been introduced to Wheel of Time via the show.
If you decide to read the books, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on your journey and how coming from the show changes your perspective as a new reader (also starting as an adult, I was a child when I started the series and a father when I finished it 10 years ago). And if you want to check out Nerdy Nightly, they are a UA-cam channel that watched season 1 first and read the books before season 2. Their end of series recap is actually today though unfortunately they can't watch/react to season 2 until the strike is over. But they have chapter breakdowns for how they covered the books. I'll say that it isn't a perfect series and there is a reason I recommend it with an asterisk. But I hope to catch up when you're in it, and I'm sure I'll follow your channel in the meanwhile. If you dont want to wait i recommend listen to the audio books ( or read if you are into that)... you dont spoil much becasue the show is so different but the books are a whole new story with all this characters and you get way more time with any of them.
If all the forsaken were on the same page in the books.tgen the dark would have won the war long ago....

Lanfear is more of a anti-hero than villain. She joined the shadow in part to get immortality thinking eventually the dragon will choose her and/or the dark…
If Lews didn’t choose her 3000 years ago eventually he may.
Something I think doesn't get enough comment is how hard Perrin was swinging that axe in order to cleave right through that breastplate over and over. 💪

Oh yeah, I get why! It's a vicious cycle - the father killed Hopper, Perrin killed him and now the son wants revenge... if he succeeded would, say, mat kill him? and then on etc... But I fully anticipate this being a new enemy!
Too bad Amazon seems to have their minds set on just 1 high fantasy show per year, 2021 WoT, 2022 RoPower, then this year 2022 WoT season 2. So unless things change coz of better reception for WoT, I really hope they allow both in same year, just different times of the year maybe. Especially very little % of audience who started RoP didn't finish it. WoT season3 is almost done fimling coz they started even b4 season 2 was out, post production would be about a year or so
I like watching your thoughts, but I'm struggling. Maybe it's my neurodivergence, but I'm getting soon distracted by the constant changing between the video and the promo photo. It's so distracting that I'm struggling to watch and having to look away if i want to watch you. It's just a thought. You do what works for you, but it's nice to see other good show only supporters.
UA-cam has made it really difficult for reactors to show clips. Switching to a static image is one way to work around the restrictions. Showing too much of the show gets a Strike on the video. So, while it’s not as fun, it’s a necessity. A lot of other reactors have been having the same problem.

I hate the show as much as Rafe hates Robert Jordan, the books, Rand, Mat, Perrin, the source, the lore, and the actual plot. Hate the show with me like Brandon Sanderson now too!

As a book reader even though they have to alter many things I am ok with and some I am not ok with to make a 14 book series work. Season 2 was pretty damn good.
