Great video Ermin! I would add 2 things: 1. Clutch Jabbing = Clutch Kick - never heard it called jabbing before but whatever ;-) 2. Looking through the apex is better than looking to the apex. As soon as you have the car lined up for the apex you should be looking to the exit. Always be looking ahead of where you are. This sounds super obvious, but I think beginners in sim racing get too focused on the apex and forget the exit which will determine your top speed on the next straight.

Your very first tip already earned this like. I've had someone I consider a pretty good driver tell me that flicking, tossing, or gliding the wheel isn't something you should do with a 900 degree wheel. I then proceeded to lap 2 seconds faster than he did on a track we were practicing on, because it was easier for me to catch oversteer and accelerate off of corners. I can already tell this video gets to some fundamental basics of driving on the limit. Can't wait to finish watching!
Fantastic content, big fan! 3 video suggestions for this "learn sim racing" series: (a) interpreting/using/maximizing in-car features (e.g. traction control, car setup, brake bias etc); (b) understanding and using technologies e.g. DRS, hybrid, and race strategy including these but also pitting etc and other topics; (c) understanding racecraft - strategy, but also racing terminology and standards, e.g. green runoff, yellow flags, launching/standing start technique, formation laps, racing etiquette etc.
You started this series just in time, quarantine finally got to me and I ordered a t150 steering wheel😅 So excited to try this out since I can’t actually drive now
Make sure you set up your wheel right and give yourself time to get used to the games. It can be frustrating at first if your good at driving irl and you suck at sims. But you’ll get used to it quickly. Make sure you have the right FOV or you won’t be able to tell how fast you are going.

Thanks for the vid! I've been Casual sim fan played whole lot of PCars 1 and GT6 with my G27. (GT6 and G27 was sold to a second hand market, I'm only left with the Controllers.) I Turned into a (Mainly) Shooter fan sometimes ago, and been wanting to Go back with my Sim(or Simcade) games. and I got Switch version of GRID autosport to Get back to the Basics of my racing skills. (also, I bought Switch version because I'm busy with my College.) I often didn't get a Complete feel of it, making Several mistakes that mentioned in this video! Thanks to this video, What I did wrong and What to do is getting clearer now. keep up the good work!
Practice, practice, practice. Consistency is king. I've found recently that I'm able to find that extra bit of time through familiarity with the track and car.
It may have been prudent to have mentioned the video you showed of Senna driving the Honda NSX where through a high speed radius corner he blips the throttle continually, similar as you mentioned in rally driving. Senna was a master at this technique.

Brilliant video mate - there is several book's worth of info here (you might consider writing one). What I find special about the way you present the material is that apart from practically showing the technique and explaining the pitfalls a beginner will certainly get wrong (why Senna was driving like "that" contrary to what is in his book), you convey the joy, prestige and enthusiasm of getting it right! So motivational when you hit a block and can't find more time. I was also very fascinated by the content about rallying and just the relevant and complete way you have fone justice to the very ambitious title - many thanks !
I've come a little way in sim racing. It started when I was playing forza horizon 4 on console and decided I wanted a wheel so I got a logitech wheel, clamped it to a desk and had some fun. Now I'm on pc with a belt driven wheel and a proper frame playing iracing.
Its funny how i wanted to learn stuff from this since i bought AC 3 days ago and wanted to get faster and it turned out that i learned everything that is in the video just by playing over those 3 days.
Senna X Prost in Suzuka cant be use as an example, couse theres much more details in that than a simple overtake. Those two crashes where more about rivalry and kind of payback eachother. Great vídeo tho mate!
Assetto Corsa is the art of arcade trail braking. Not only the maneuver is wrong, the car have also hard time to rotate off the brake & understeer unrealistically. Other games also have the maneuver wrong, but the car doesn't understeer that bad off the brake. Reducing the steering ratio from default will provide placebo to get result from arcade trail braking. Normally you should ease up the brake before turning in while trail braking when you sense the back is rotating. In AC, when you sense the back end is rotating, you turn in & after you ease up the brake.
Can you make a setup video. I have been playing the Project Cars games for around 5 years. But i still don't know how to do setups the right way :( Like i will go in there and make tweaks but they usually just tend to make my car Worse, i really need some help and i bet a lot others do too :)
Great Video! I hope you dont mind my small critizism about your racing line guide. Theres one thing I want to point out about racing lines which is also shown in this video but to me, it doesnt seem to be explained well enough: The geometric racing line isnt the fastest racing line, because this line doesnt take into consideration, that you arrive at the corner slowing down and exit the corner accelerating. This means, a racing line with a slightly later turn-in-point and apex, while rotating the car more quickly and thus straightening the exit, is faster and better for the tyres. In this video I often see you gently turning in very early for slow corners which really compromises your exit. This is not a good example for a racing line around a slow corner. To maximize your exit from the hairpin at Sebring (which is the turn I particularly saw you doing it in this video) you should stay all the way to the outside of the track for way longer until you turn to the full lock necessary to make the turn. Anyways I really enjoyed watching and Im quite happy you spread the stoke about simracing! This is a very great and helpful series!

I practice left foot braking, but in racing I hardly ever use it still because a. I don't have enough experience with it in my race car and B. my race car has a VERY soft brake pedal cause it's on a stock master cilinder with 6 pot front brakes (needed bigger rotors for heat dissipation), so yeah :P I've got my pedals set to the weakest brake force but it's still a ton more than my actual racecar.
Newbs: You can dictate your racing line if you are ahead but if there is someone next to you, you can't just force them off the road. Especially on a straight. The amount of times I've been sent spinning because some moron decided to make a late defensive move while I was right next to them is too many to count. Either concede the position or fight fairly. Otherwise, you will see yourself kicked out of lobby after lobby.
I think 9 and 3 is become the normal for road cars as well since you are less likely to smack your self in the face with your arms if the airbag goes off. Tho this could just be random jargon I read some where but it seems to make sense.

For example all of the things on overtaking and defending aren't technically about "how to drive fast", also the rallying stuff could've been separated as its so specific and different from racetrack technique. This is just a tip on editing and increasing video views, I quite enjoyed the content and learned a few things :)

Good work. I would have liked an explanation of the what,why and when of "short shifting" thrown in. Otherwise excellent work. Perhaps a video giving an overview of different racing classes? Eg. What's the difference between GT1, GT2, GT3 or GTE. WTF does GT even stand for really? How do all the different open wheel Formulas work? Etc. Etc. I suspect sim racing is a bit 'Emperor's New Clothesy' where many talk of what they can't see to avoid feeling stupid or ignorant. No such fear here! Can you shed some light mate?
GT stands for exactly the same as it does in the road car world, Grand Touring. The differences inbetween GT1/GT4/GTE ect are things like power output, how modified the cars are from there road going counterparts, amounts of downforce from aero and if they have electronics like ABS and Traction Control. For example the difference between a GT3 and GTE/GTLM (Which means Endurance/Le Mans) Is that the GTE car has more aero, more power and no ABS. GTE's are inherently more expensive while GT3's are cheaper and made for privateer teams really. GT4's have less power and aero than a GT3 and are closer to the road version of the car. GT1/2 dont really exist anymore
Rl GT3/GT4 have quite a few people that right foot brake. there is advantages and disadvantages to both Oh and Prost definelty turned in on Senna on purpose
I have been playing PC2 now for nearly a year now (which is not the only sim racing i have done recently), and was so disappointed to hear about PC3 being more of a sim-cade, so would it be worth getting Rfactor2 just for the realism.
I have a bit of an issue i was hoping you can shed light on. Im in the uk we have the steering wheel on the right side of the car which wouldn't be so bad except it completely screws with my hand eye coordination and spacial awareness, I end up misjudging corners and gaps because the virtual car is on the other side of the one in my head, now i could use hood view but it not the same, and only half fixes spacial awareness issue. Is there any sims that allow me to drive with the wheel on the correct side.

I find look to apex vital for racing on a smaller single monitor. Helps keep some corners from going out of view!

Regarding using track markers for braking, don't use shadows on the track. First overcast race, drove like Stephen Hawking. Not recommended.
