me, a 16 years old boy, makes me happy when I think that I actually grew up with the touge experience since I started playing racing video games at 3 or 4 years old, and the first game I played and still play to the days of today is Need For Speed Carbon (that is 16 years old as well), and for the ones that doesn't know about the game, it features touge racing or as referred in the game, canyon duels, where you go for a 2-stage race, chase and lead, against the boss of each territory. This type of racing amazes me in such a special way that I can't really explain, especially in the game, once I disabled all HUD features (not including the rear view mirror) for the first time, the atmosphere of the game made me feel that it was actually me driving that car on the canyons, and I grew up playing that game and it kept me getting more into the car scene as time goes by
I don`t understand how it`s possible that there still isn`t a modern big budget racing game that does touge and wangan races... Point to point races between 2 people down narrow and twisty roads are some of the most fun and intense races you can have, and yet nobody does it... The onlqy mainstream game I can think of that did anything even kind of similar was NFS carbon with it`s canyon run boss fights, and it was glorious
i think the reason is that tougue racing is very hard. look at forza horizon. the street are ultra wide to be forgiving to players. i would still love to se a good touge game. the only one i know is for the ps2 kaido racer or tokyo xtreeme racing drift
@@yantelessantana8660 I guess that`s true, but I still think it could be made to work, even in a more casual friendly game like FH5. Carbon is a great example of this, IMO, because while the roads in the canyon run races are super steep and twisty, they`re generally still pretty wide, and even late game cars (like tuned lambos, vipers, porsches and corvettes) are still manageable, if a bit scary to use at times. I think that if PGG had made more twisty roads with alot of elevation changes, they could`ve allowed for touge style races, while still having the roadsbe wide to help make the experience more forgiving. It would`ve also given lower class cars more of a purpose, since the way the game is currently designed, everybody is in super high class cars, and it feels unrewarding to use lower tier cars. I can understand why FH5 doesn`t do touge, but it boggles my mind that no track based games really explored touge or wangan as a game mode, especially given how much of a selling point it would be. It could be a particularly good fit for a more serious simcade racing game like Gran turismo of forza motorsport, or even a slighly more arcade style game like the grid games (grid 2 had a couple of point to point tracks that vad a somewhat similar vibe, but the races weren`t set up touge style)
Nothing like hopping on a Nordschliefe track day in the tuned AE86 and finding something you can keep the pressure on who's game, this looks incredible and I love the rules. Wasn't this like the boss fights in NFS Carbon?
Took a two year break from racing bc my living situation didn’t have space for a sim rig. Now I’m ina new place I can start now 😊 Nice to see Jimmy doing what he does best! I remember thinking in the early days “Jimmys fast, but I’m faster” (5yrs of competitive karting) Now you’re probably an entire minute faster than me on any circuit 😂 I was in the middle of changing my pedals to fanatec CS Pedals so my braking feel got all mixed up and now I have to shake off a lot of rust along with getting used to the new brakes
its called rev matching, you basically increase revs to match the engine speed to your current wheel speed on the lower gear. quite important to do on old cars, newer ones often do it automatically.
Absolutely love this! It's nice seeing some more touge content with vibrant scenery and 90's JDM cars. I'd love to see more of these down the line and even though it only involves 2 cars it feels so much tenser
I really enjoyed this video. A lot of enthusiasm for this game. That road looks wonderful, maybe not the actual best graphics but there is something real about it the way they've captured the light.
This is awesome! As an R32 owner as well, I found my self on the edge of my seat like... YO! DOOOO IT! LOL and you said " I can win this" and I was like YEAH YOU CAN! GET IT!!! 😅😅😅 Sick run against that NSX.
a lot of fun , I have enteredmany bicycle races around that course.. the hairpins with the stone walls at the end are thigh killers and gasping for breath there too... such fun to see it at that pace rather than 10 minute laps.
Never seen one of your videos before, but I took a chance and I haven’t been able to take my eyes off the screen. I need to play this game now! Awesome video!
I usually don't re-watch a video if I nod off while watching it the previous night, but I'm so glad I did here. That second race against the NSX was incredible.
Not a gamer at everyone's level like this, however my first gaming system was Pong, second Atari which tells you my rough age lol Great video, great driving, great skills, enjoyed every minute of this video.
This should be a whole series - someone link me a youtube channel that follows a group of racers who do this as a club - i want irl sim racing initial d The amazing races at the end - wow just wow. Cant believe you made the pass at the end. So exciting.
Loved this! I'd love to see this be revisited where Jimmer uses and attempts to master some of the famous MAOU of the Touge, though admittedly, I'm not well versed in the community to know if recreations of things like the J's RACING S2000 or FEED FD3S have been made in AC.
Have to admit I'd never heard of this kind of racing until one of the 'Grid' series introduced it to the lineup; I do quite like it and watching you drive is fun, fun, fun.
That battle between the GTR and the NSX was tense man. Interesting because for the most part you were pulling away from the NSX during the first round, but in those same sections you couldn't get close to him in the second round. That overcooked final hairpin so you could overtake was incredible, this looks so fun

Amazing editing 😆 SO entertaining to watch!!! Definitely need more of this on the channel!
Never heard of this before. Looks absolutely insane and like a ton of fun! I love the AC modding community.
This is very wholesome for us Best Motoring weebs.
its interesting to see how you take some of these courses ive spent so much time on, hope i get to race you sometime.
You did, got yelled at :))

6:53. Good question. Wait, why do I feel attacked.
That was an awesome video! Impressive driving, watching you work this hard was awesome!
That GT-R vs NSX battle was super thrilling.
Super entertaining video Jimmy! Long time Assetto and Hot Version fan, not biased at all. Also loved the 2000's style edit in there :D
Nothing like hopping on a Nordschliefe track day in the tuned AE86 and finding something you can keep the pressure on who's game, this looks incredible and I love the rules. Wasn't this like the boss fights in NFS Carbon?
this one made me proud of your driving skills Jimmy. You've really improved a LOT in the last couple of years
crazy that people are discovering this map in ac now, it's such a good map, i love drifting on it
It's been ported to BeamNG and I play the hell out of it
Honestly, I’ve been playing it for over 6 months and I thought I was late to the party
what is the name of the map?

@@TheRyansLion you are the best!))) Thank you!
Waw, this so sick! Those corner exits inches from the barriers in the r32 were lovely. Going all out too just like they used to in the show haha.
sorry jimbo, what does JGM stand for? 0:10

This is the video, out of everything I’ve watched, that pushed me to buy a wheel setup! On a side note, that 86 engine sound in the game is God tier!
Some great driving from everyone! With fun editing as always.
Hoping to be able to join you next time!
Took a two year break from racing bc my living situation didn’t have space for a sim rig.
Now I’m ina new place I can start now 😊
Nice to see Jimmy doing what he does best!
I remember thinking in the early days “Jimmys fast, but I’m faster” (5yrs of competitive karting)
Now you’re probably an entire minute faster than me on any circuit 😂
I was in the middle of changing my pedals to fanatec CS Pedals so my braking feel got all mixed up and now I have to shake off a lot of rust along with getting used to the new brakes
Does anybody know why he presses the gas pedal when he's downshifting? Love your videos Jimmy! Keep up the awesome work
its called rev matching, you basically increase revs to match the engine speed to your current wheel speed on the lower gear. quite important to do on old cars, newer ones often do it automatically.
6:21 the classic DK throttle applciation xD amazing stuff Jimbo
The DD2 menu music edit made me smile at @5:36 you are a man of culture jimmer
This is awesome! As an R32 owner as well, I found my self on the edge of my seat like... YO! DOOOO IT! LOL and you said " I can win this" and I was like YEAH YOU CAN! GET IT!!! 😅😅😅 Sick run against that NSX.
Love the third person views with the sound affects!
Loved this video.
Never let go of this passion.
That was awesome. Loved video option and hot version growing up, this brings all the feels back. ❤
Randomly stumbled upon this video, Im pretty sure I remember seeing you years ago making videos in a shack, congrats on the amazing progress man
You're commentary is like a lullaby for me and those action replays of the GTR are next to orgasmic
I highly recommend playing assetto corsa in VR. It changes the feel of the game completely. Puts you in the seat of 90's JDM heaven!
My god, Jimmy. That was awesome. That second race had me leaning with the car. I wish I had the money to get into it! Thanks for the video!
More please I was cheering u on the whole video and ur random commentary bits where chef's kiss 🤌
a lot of fun , I have enteredmany bicycle races around that course.. the hairpins with the stone walls at the end are thigh killers and gasping for breath there too... such fun to see it at that pace rather than 10 minute laps.
Dude so good. This is so fun to watch and you’re the god dang frickin best we love you Jimbob
Never seen one of your videos before, but I took a chance and I haven’t been able to take my eyes off the screen. I need to play this game now! Awesome video!
Its so much fun to see you drive really concentrated. Probs to you cutter, splendid work from both of you.
That was incredibly fun to watch. We need more of thisssss!
This should be a whole series - someone link me a youtube channel that follows a group of racers who do this as a club - i want irl sim racing initial d
The amazing races at the end - wow just wow. Cant believe you made the pass at the end. So exciting.
Fantastic video. Love the editing, music, driving, passion all of it. Great stuff jamble, more of this!! :D
Ok, but is no one going to talk about that drift at 12:46 - 12:55? That was one of the cleanest drifts I have seen in an R32!
I was about to comment that, it was completely awesome, as a new Assetto player that cant drift, its so clean!
Loved this! I'd love to see this be revisited where Jimmer uses and attempts to master some of the famous MAOU of the Touge, though admittedly, I'm not well versed in the community to know if recreations of things like the J's RACING S2000 or FEED FD3S have been made in AC.
Fudging love this. TOP SETUP EG6 was my favourite touge car. Such an underdog story with a fwd car beating all 👍👍
This was literally one of the tensest sim race video ive seen of yours XD This was awesome
I just LOVE touge racing! 1v1 on a narrow road and both drivers driving at their limits is just so cool to watch :D
As someone who just started sim racing and is new to manual , your foot technique looks so smooth !
Have to admit I'd never heard of this kind of racing until one of the 'Grid' series introduced it to the lineup; I do quite like it and watching you drive is fun, fun, fun.
This is amazing! I don’t sim race but this just brings so many memories of hot version. Thank you for this! And great driving!
This is where the NFS Carbon Boss battles come from! How cool!
Fantastic editing on this video. great music choice too. can never go wrong with a bit of jet set radio future soundtrack.
That battle between the GTR and the NSX was tense man. Interesting because for the most part you were pulling away from the NSX during the first round, but in those same sections you couldn't get close to him in the second round. That overcooked final hairpin so you could overtake was incredible, this looks so fun
I used to watch a lot of Hot Version, especially their Gunsai Battles.
This video was way more entertaining than I thought, well driven!
Seen you all around sim racing, but this is the video that made me sub!! More of this please!!
two things 1. you are a great at leading with the roughness gets people worried a lil but chasing lil rough i love when you lead gg mate chow
I've had so much fun learning touge these last few weeks and I think I actually drove with you at one point!

i love that series
there are many episodes on youtube, even with good subtitles ^^
