    Mr Gouldfish, you sure know how to make us jealous!. First showing off a Neo Geo, then your super A4000!.
    Bless you, may your beard grow ever longer :D

      Sorry, not sorry 😉
      The Neo Geo might show up in a video soon as well.
      This A4000 is one I've had for a while, its just never been quite right to use for anything. So happy that its in a good condition now.

    I remember playing the Elite 2 and Wing Commander on my Amiga 500 and remember thinking that games probably couldn't get any better :D

      Was the same, I spent to many hours on those games on the 500+

    A graphics card really makes the 4000 fly. After my Cybervision 64/3D died I noticed how important it's been, I just don't use my 4000 as much anymore because of that. So a new card is something I will get for it, unless the old one can be repaired.

    Warp Engine is a great Amiga A3000/A4000 accelerator!
    Now users are replacing the original 68040 with the 68060 and getting great results!

      I've seen some of the reports and mods for adding a 68060, they do look very nice.

    I'm currently running a Warp 4040 in my A4000 even though I have Cyberstorm 060 and a PPC/060 boards. It is plenty fast with the WarpEngine. I backed up all my Amiga hard drives to CF cards including my A3000's original Quantum LPS 105 SCSI drive. I have a whole mess of Zorro cards from 7 and 8 port serial cards (I ran a 20 line BBS on a 4000) to a GVP PhonePak and a slew of ethernet NICs. I'm loving the nostalgia factor of the real Amigas as opposed to just using emulators.

      That sounds like a nicely upgraded machine, lots of power under that hood!
      Yeah I do like running real hardware where I can, it does feel different then just using emu's.

    A nice blast from the past! I had a 4000/040 with a Picasso II and Opalvision card back around 1995. I sold it and went to the dark side but I do still have my 1200 and CD32 🙂

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      Ooh that would have been a nice machine at the time.
      I think around that point lots of Amiga owners were looking at moving on, but its nice that you kept the A1200 and CD32

    Dug out my A4000 a little while back (done a video on the first turn on a while back), just bought an IDE to CF card adapter which I need to put in.
    Running a 68060 with 96 mb RAM total and there's some I/O card in mine which I have no collection of why I bought it back then! Must source some network card at some point and upgrade workbench!

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      Ooh nice, a 060 must fly with the more intensive games and those IDE to CF cards are great.
      I had one that would stick out the back so it was easy to upgrade as well.

    *awesome stuff! I miss the Amiga days so much! I'd personally like to see your A400 retro brightened lol. UFO and Theme Part game son the left.Ahhh, some of the best games ever! I still play them now lol* 💪👍

      as for retro brightening, I understand why people want to do it. Its just not for me.

    I've got that same network card! For mine I used an AUI to Ethernet, some eWaste from China that worked fine for a tenner. And a joystick port extension cable, fully wired, so it's not dangling from the back.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      That's good to know that they work, I have one but it never connected to the network for me.
      wasn't sure if it was a duff unit or the card or some configuration.
      so ended up with that switch.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      If it wasn't for the BlueSCSI I would have put a CD drive in, as that would be the fastest way to get software on it.
      plus those games that came on CD.

      I had four 7 disc SCSI CD changers hooked up to my BBS A4000 back in the day. What a nightmare reboots were. Each LUN of the four SCSI ID's had to be checked which meant a sequence of 28 disc changes before it would boot.

  • @joechevy2035

    I got one of these! It yellow screens during bootup, but I'm waiting for some Amiga4000 DiagROM's coming and will doing some work on it soon!

    Nice A4000! Does the original HDD still work? It might be worth backing it up to another partition on the BlueSCSI "just in case". I'd also like to see what those video editing cards can do!

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому +1

      The original drive does work, but it was wiped before I got it.
      so it didn't have any of the software on it, so I'd have to download it and work out how to use it.
      as I do think it would be fun to mess around with those cards, even if the investigation will be a bit of an epic 😉

      A few people have mentioned the ZZ9000, it looks interesting but part of me feels its trying todo too much and the price reflects that

    You lucky, lucky bar-steward. Is there no option to add a battery to/replace the RTC or is that something you’ll get to at some point? & yeh, that is a fast boot.
    Also my goodness Frontier runs great. I ended up resorting to running the PC version on a 50MHz 486 to get it running well. Sadly doesn’t support my Speech Thing, so I’ll have to dig out an early hardware desktop instead of the laptop I played it on.

    • @jameshenry8015
      @jameshenry8015 Рік тому +2

      I think the RTC chip and associated motherboard traces would need to be put back in. Not for the faint of heart. It is easier to sync time over the network via NTP.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому +1

      The person that fixed up battery damage said he didn't think it could be saved, and I have no reason to not believe him.
      and yeah after years of running Elite 2 on my A500+ going to a Pentium to play it was a whole new world!

    Have you looked into newer Amiga hardware? At least for the other machines there's plenty of modern RTG and Turbo cards. I think Modern Vintage Gamer had a video about a fairly recent Zorro RTG card.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      There is one modern card that people have been mentioning, but it seems to be a bit of a do all card.
      as in RTG, USB, network, etc.
      and is quite expensive, so it still doesn't solve the cost problem and there is always a waiting list to get one.
      I will look into it more, just not sure I'll get one.

    By not having the CD, you miss out on any CD32/CDTV games that had CD audio.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  Рік тому

      That is a very good point.
      for a decent number of those games I could just run them on the CD32, but the later ones would be missing the music.

      That is something I've looked into, but the high cost, limited availability and having to use another monitor makes it harder to justify.
