Nice job Sal! That Motive Power Bleeder is a great tool. Especially handy if you don't have another person available to help out with the job. Thanks for showing us that, and also how easy it is to use. Interesting and unique bleed sequence for the Honda. Nice to know in case I ever end up doing one of these. Thanks so much for the comment Alex! You always have great insightful comments in each video I see you in. I’m glad I did this job myself since I went to an indie shop to get it done last time and I truly believe they didn’t bleed the brakes properly, just did the reservoir. I was looking for a video of this procedure that used a pressure bleeder and actuated the parking brake 5X in the process and what to do with the bleeder. Thank you for showing the entire correct process!
Also to note, if your civic is a manual trans the clutch system/lines uses fluid from the brake reservoir as well. The slave cylinder has a bleeder valve as well where this procedure needs to be done. Not sure at what point though.
Glad you mentioned the 5x parking brake. I tried skipping that my first flush and the brake pedal was a little soft. After cycling the electronic brake 5x and bleeding rear again the pedal was firm.
I dont understand fror the motive pressure container, where does the air escape as you pressurize the container? Does the air not get pushed into the master cylinder?
No, the fluid stays in the bottom of the vessel, the air stays above, and when you pressurize the air above the fluid, it forces fluid only through the bottom of the vessel through the drain fitting at the bottom. No air can be pulled from the surface as long as the siphon tube stays submerged. When he released the pressure from the air chamber inside the vessel above the liquid, air pressure above the liquid dropped, and it siphoned the excess fluid back into the vessel through the drain port in the bottom of the vessel. Air never mixes as long as you’re careful to bleed any air in the siphon tube before connecting it to the drain port of the vessel, and the brake master cylinder cap adapter. Hope this helps, it’s a vacuum chamber , the physics work!
Hi Sal, After you bled the brakes and engaged the E-brake 5 times, how did you know that you needed to re-bleed the brakes? I have a FL5 CTR and watching these video's on how to do them and this is the fist time I saw someone have to re-bleed them.
I had read on the civic forums about doing the bleed procedure again to get the extra fluid out of the e brake lines but you should be fine if you don’t do it.
While I'm working with wheel stud my caliper pistol popped off and all the brake fluid drained in front driver side and the master cylinder is empty. Do you think I need to do the passenger side also ? or all 4 of them? or just the driver side?
To retract the electronic parking brake you need to remove the electronic housing attached to the brake caliper and turn the bolt until it stops. Electronic parking brake should be off. Check out this video I did on the 650i with electronic parking brake: ua-cam.com/video/OFUUHgZ1-A4/v-deo.html
how many jack stands did you use again just 2 or do you need all 4s to have car safely up? and thanks again for the vid first time doing this on my whip
Thanks Sal! When you said you did the whole rebleed of the system again towards the end after you engaged the ebrake 5 times, did you when back and open the valve of each brake and bleed until it runs clear and free of bubble? the whole entire 4 wheels (brakes)? so you have to do the entire bleeding process again? Just want to clarify since it will be my first time doing it on my civic 2018 EX CVT. Planning to do transmission oil as well. I have seen a video where a guy just open the valve on both of the bottom of the transmission where one of them you can empty it and the other one is for filling in the oil. the guy said the second valve if it leaks oil slowly and that means it is full. you dont need to check for the temperature. thanks!
I recommend use the "dry method" with the power bleeder. You are suppose to change those Power Bleeder hoses like every year or so if I recall correctly. I heard horror stories where those hose got old and burst, causing brake fluid all over the car. Just fill the Brake Reservoir with fresh fluid, hook your power bleeder with no fluid in it and use it as the Pressurizer. Then take it off and refill the reservoir before it goes empty. Now you don't have to clean out the Power bleeder or worry about the hose bursting. Also I spray down the brake nipple area with water or rinseless car wash. Sometimes there may be leaks from the brake bleed bottle tubing and where the brake bleed nipple is. If working on Type R Brembos, its good to rinse.
Whats up sal had a question if i already have the motive bleeder bottle all i would need is just the adapter correct??? Or does it need to be a specific pump?? And how much of dot 4 would i need for this job?? I hope you find yourself doing great and thank you for your time
@@Sals_Garage I changed my brake fluid but my brakes feel less firm then before. Would that be from the new brake fluid or is it possible to have air in the line?

I dont understand fror the motive pressure container, where does the air escape as you pressurize the container? Does the air not get pushed into the master cylinder?
That’s a good question for the company. I don’t know the specific science behind how it works.
No, the fluid stays in the bottom of the vessel, the air stays above, and when you pressurize the air above the fluid, it forces fluid only through the bottom of the vessel through the drain fitting at the bottom.
