The red woman is a priestess of the lord of light. Stannis' wife is barren and cannot give him male children. The priestess is offering him a male child so he has a successor. But low key I think she's also doing it to gain more hold/control over him.
The red women is Melisandre and if you figure her out please let me know. I would like to know too😂 I have read the books and seen the entire the show btw.

You should watch the season two lore as soon as possible. Otherwise you will be saying "why are they giving details on people, places and things that don't even exist anymore?"
The lore doesn't have spoilers, but lots of useful information.
I agree there is a lot of sex in a first couple seasons. It dulls out soon enough. Some scenes you have to look past it, some of the dialogue gives background. Like when Balish talks about himself when the teaches the girls to be convincing.
