    Loticians should explain that retwists do not make the hair loc. They simply make it neat and create a uniform look. Lack of combing and the natural matting process makes it loc.

    Na whatever my hair wanna do naturally I love. Give me all the budding and whatever comes naturally. I don’t enjoy my locs for an aesthetic because all of ours lay and flourish so differently which makes everyone’s journey so beautiful. We just need water fr fr and here and there a nice oil. Either way will give the same results. However, if you choose not to control the swell from the loose coil, it will take longer to form. Hence the reason for controlling the bud

    • @mccoilycurls4365
      @mccoilycurls4365 10 місяців тому +73

      Controlling the budding literally defeats the purpose of locs. Budding means it’s tangling. Budding gives the loc it’s eventual thickness. This is just over maintenance.

      Budding is natural! 'Controlling the bud' is bad! She's combing out part of the loc and retwisting it.
      There is nothing I repeat NOTHING you can do about Budding. I'm over 2 years in and I still have buds. They don't look like it over Time because it evens out. Different parts of the loc bud at different Times they eventually all whine up the same size. But after about 1 month after a retwist I get new buds. Doing this hurts the locking process and prolongs it as well. Those buds are just gonna keep coming back. If he keeps letting her do this to his head they never gone loc!

      Most flaxseed gel will due. Just make sure it isn't too heavy and doesn't have to many chemicals.
      Stay away from Jamaican lime!
      It causes build up!

      It's suppose to bud. That is a sign that the starter locs are starting to turn into locs. It is part of the process

    After installing the coils, retwists should be palm rolled so the hair can start being trained to wrap around in a cylinder shape. Budding is literally the beginning phase of a mature loc- it's forming tangles. Combing it through like you did put him back at square one.

    • @patcol82

      Ok i was just telling my wife, this is why retwist is looked at as harmful because people don't palm roll, they use that comb
