I HATE IT when games require online interaction. Its really really frustrating, especially in Pokemon where you _can't_ get specific Pokemon very easily without trading (like version exclusives, trade evolutions, etc). As someone who has very few in-person friends to interact with, it really sucks. Trying to do Max Raid Dens is a NIGHTMARE in singleplayer.
Not only that, but now that you have to PAY a monthly subscription just for the most basic of features (seriously, in Legends Arceus you can't retrieve your lost items after you die unless you have internet access) its even _worse._ I refuse to pay for Nintendo Online. You shouldn't need to pay for the bare minimum.
I miss Gen 6, when internet connection was free, easy to use, and accessible to everyone. It was the golden age of online trading, and we never realized it until it was gone. They've only regressed since then.

Nintendo took their time to fall into the payed online service thing, but we all knew it would go there eventually... Sadly, it's the norm as expenses lower profit. I'm glad it isn't really that expensive on Nintendo's side!

This is why it is important to have offline PvE content. One reason the gen 4-5 games still hold up is because while the online content is down, there is still plenty of replayable offline content to enjoy.

I do believe that current games have a fair bit of content when paired with the DLC - it's all a lot faster paced, though. But yeah, back in the day, games came PACKED to the brim!

Really good video! I agree with your point 100% about not locking aspects of the game behind multiplayer, just seems like such a step backwards

It will surely make the games less interesting in the long run for anyone trying to complete them!

SV will be the biggest one affected with the online function because everything the game offers is tied to online and after the inevitable. SV will have nothing to offer anymore. Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are still not in the base game and DLC of SV. Some game content is locked behind Pecurunt and will be completely inaccessible at one point
It’s unfortunately not likely GF will go back to these games to fix the NPC AI because it’s not gonna be on their priority to update an old game by that time.
Ultimately it’s gonna in the long term greatly affect the switch titles with Legends being the exception

All we can hope is that we continue to see improvements as Gen10 arrives! ScaVi improved NPC AI from Gen8, so we might see something similar in Gen10...
As for Events, that has been a problem since forever... I sadly believe it will never change!

It's slow and it never works? Because that's the main problem I have with it, it's slow and it never works... Okay, I'll watch the video.

Should game not lean as much on features that suffer without online? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for watching!

I think they need to balance the online features more so it doesn't affect the offline part too much. I agree with you with the Snackworth legendary. Rayquaza, Kyurem and Necrozma is only obtained through group BBQ quests.

The Snacksworth part is the worst, for sure... Harder to get offline? Sure. Impossible? No...

There has not been a single tera raid you could not clear solo in SV, even up to 7-star. In fact, I'd argue that it's mostly preferable to do them solo due to the fact that NPCs do not drop the timer when they faint, allowing you to solo carry the battle if you have the means. I have done this with every single raid event, train up a specific Pokemon to counter the raid mechanics and go in with NPCs.

Absolutely, if you do have the knowledge to build such a Pokémon. When making this video I wasn't really thinking of just one type of fan, but on all of them. We live in our Pokémon Internet Community bubble and assume it is the norm for everyone, but it isn't. I know many people - especially younger fans - that play the game for the sake of playing and eventually, as new younger fans pick up older games, they might feel like the games are not as fun due to the lack of online features. They won't know how to build anything. If the AI was better and, generally speaking, more useful, it would take care of this!

I done all that stuff through local wireless with my friends 😅. So i don't seen the problem, cause once the servers are down local multiplayer is all that left, unless people created private servers to play.

    • @notsoAceTrainer
      @notsoAceTrainer  3 місяці тому

You're in the minority, though... For example, my local scene is absolutely none and for the most part, in most places - especially far from bigger cities - this is the case.

@@notsoAceTrainer I don't live a big city at all, i live in Puerto Rico and my city is ver small. I just got a couple of friends that gather to play when we have the time. I am 34 so i still enjoy having my friends over at my house or go to there to play like when i was a kid when very few people had access online play. Not really a fan of playing online unless that my only option. At least the option is there todo it local wireless, not all game have that option.

    Hi Ace,
Online features were great add-up and it becomes cooler and cooler by every Gen.
Now, even when those online services will be shut (as it is already the case like you mentionned for some games), it leaves time to do it in real life. I mean, it is not that rare for hardcore players to gather every once in a while for their own local event in order to battle or trade between them with their old copies (just like old times!). Because of Pokemon Go it even became easier to know about those local communities.
Remember me when you will be in retirement house with 80yo dudes playing their old Pokemon Games all day trading and battling without a care for internet 😂
    Cheers

      Hey!
I don't know... I haven't seen a console meetup in... 15 years? Maybe a bit less? Can see it happening in the retirement home, but not as much right now in most places! 😂
