@@LoriKasprzak-yk6nc You'd be very surprised how being raised in a certain area or having an influential figure in your life that's involved in criminal activity can push you towards it. Drug addiction also tends to push you towards a criminal lifestyle. It's simple when you grow up in the suburbs with both parents that keep you on the right track (and even then a lot of those kids become drug addicts) but for inner city kids or kids who's parents were involved in that lifestyle it's not as easy.

I think the judge made the right call by not giving him the PR bond. He's a repeat offender. Now that may not mean anything, but it gives a person with such background a chance to prove themselves. If you can come up with the money and maintain the stipulations of your bond, you're a productive citizen in my book. You've shown the court and the jury at your future trial that you can and have changed based on your actions from the time you received a bond. You made bail, you went to work, paid all of your bond, showed up to all of your court dates and etc. I think it works more in his favor if he can do that than with the PR bond, even though that is definitely the better option. Just my opinion.

This young brother has reached the crossroads. His greatest achievement so far is that he's working, although he speaks at a 4th grade reading level. He's scared, but sincere. If he convinces me that he can stay away from drugs, alcohol and the wrong crowd, hell, 'I' would front him the money to be released! Prison would only further damage this lost kid.

My feeling is that he stated that he is all alone, and doesn't have any support from anyone. And that makes you think that there must be a reason for the fact that you have nobody there for you. That speaks to his character. He must be so bad of a person to have nobody even showing up for his bond hearing to even offer him moral support.
