I'm a retired credit card fraud investigator . What you do is entertaining but it's so much more important than people may realize. When they aren't making money innocent people win. Keep up the team work your involved in as well. Be careful.

They know the type of people they have. They yell and threaten, make them feel guilty, and it makes the poor people "get in line" and try harder. Same with the "romance" scammers. They're big on guilt trips because they tend to work on the kind of people who get sucked in. This guy is taking the scammers places they've never seen before! It might not be long til the scammers start recognizing reverse scammers like this guy. The scammers are just evil.

They’re probably instructed to do that in such a situation because the person on the phone is at their most vulnerable and therefore are more likely to comply due to fear. It’s a truly vile scenario all around.

The refund scam is the worst scam I can think of because, by design, it only targets those with good morals. If someone wasn't that honest, they would just hang up with the fake money. The victims of this scam are those who are just genuinely kind, which is so sad.

Agree. Think it's despicable beyond words. I'm fortunate enough to have helped my Father in manners like this. He has become allot more IT savvy. He is retired now and worked hard for his lifestyle. Would be distraught for him to fall for scammers.

I work at Target and the amount of people we have to convince that they’re being scammed is so sad. They’re always so flustered and scared that they don’t want to be believe us. We had 3 people yesterday we were able to help from being scammed

@@k12moyo no we don’t get trained specifically to question the guest about a gift card purchase. The only time we ask or are allowed to ask is if it seems weird or they’re acting weird or nervous. Plus people aren’t allowed to buy over $500 worth of gift cards in the same day. And most people who try to buy more are being scammed

we tried our best to tell him its a scam but he won't believe us and even get's mad when we help him, the scammer told him the card was faulty and i think he's going to buy again. God these scammers.

Man, I work with elderly clients every shift; for people to take advantage of them like is the lowest of the low. My favourite lady is so excited when I call her to tell her the schedule of her carer, just so she can chat with someone for a bit. And to think people have no shame about blatant thievery from people excited to hear the phone ring. You're doing some excellent work.

There are a ton of scammers that are willing to send others to the poor house. There's a great video of scammers literally stating on video that they'd rather have your last thousand dollars vs that person buying gifts for their family during the holidays. It's extremely pathetic and horrible that the scammers aren't in jail.

I'm always shocked how they think screaming at them is the best method. But maybe it does work at senile people, idk. Everything about these scams and scammers is just so odd it's difficult for me to figure out how they succeed to get any money. I'm just endlessly frustrated by how idiotic they and their scams are, but somehow they sound arrogant like they were clever people and don't deserve their time to be wasted. Like he keeps screaming "you don't make any sense" but the fake "difficult" grandma is the only part in this call making sense. Like if he had any wits and was at all dynamic, if this grandma was a real gullible person, he would have the opportunity for quick and easy profit even with the changes in situation, but when something doesn't go along his script, he starts screaming.

Whenever my dad would get a scam call he would run to me, mute his phone and say "when a person starts talking, just scream as loud as you can" and one time we both started screaming bloody murder and we heard the headset hit the floor. We could not stop laughing

The issue here is these illegal call centers pay lots of bribes to the local police and gov't officials. Also when they go to court they will pay huge sums to the judges, make sure to follow up on all the cases !! And publicize as much as you can include the higher up officials so they are held accountable !!

As someone who has worked in a real tech support center, its staggering how good your old lady behaviors are. Especially the moments where they have decided they know what will fix the problem despite multiple instructions not to do that.

I "accidently" made a lady scammer cry, women don't tend to hang up as soon as the men do. Asking "if her parents are proud" really seemed to hit her hard.
My old Dad, at 85 years old and suffering from Parkinsons disease was conned out of his £4500 pension savings in a telephone scam when the "Court Bailiffs" became aggressive and threatened to pay a visit and remove his property.

This was my uncle with the Nigerian scam. He'd ask them if they were another one of those scammers, they'd say "no", and he'd accept that and do the same thing all over again...
I saw an old one where I think he did that, not 100% sure, it's from a few years ago

Here's an idea - make them see a reversed (flipped horizontally or even vertically) screen and pretend everything looks fine on your end - it will be a nightmare for them to navigate lol

My grandma almost fell for one of these when dementia was starting. Bank let her take 4500 no questions asked. She brought the money to a money mart and the cashier there got her to call my parents. Saved the money. You are doing God's work!

It's terrible that people are taken advantage of like that. At least someone was on the ball. Ironically I wouldn't be shocked if most businesses stop their employees from getting involved.
We were lucky with my grandparents, in the UK the government has a free service where you can register a loved one/legal guardian as having control of your finances if you end up in a vulnerable position (such as having dementia or other illnesses). Kept them in their own home and safe from scams.
I don't think God has much to do with it. Plenty of the scammers seem to believe in God and they are living the high life on other people's money 😡.
my grandfather fell for a phone scam and gave away his credit card number a couple months after he was diagnosed with dementia. most of these scammers have no remorse and look down on 'rich' westerners in order to justify it in their heads, plus they mainly target old people since they're less knowledgeable about technology and have a higher chance of mental illnesses like dementia/alzheimers that can easily be exploited.
My favorite is when you redeem the cards and you hear the whole call center freaking. I'll say it again, you're a hero baby.

the way this guy just starts SCREAMING at someone who he believes to be an old woman who is crying is so evil. as far as he knows he's talking to an old woman who legitimately believes she's losing all her important files (which is something that DID happen to my grandma a few years back, and this reaction is not at all exaggerated, that was actually some incredibly convincing acting there) and this is extremely traumatic, and he thinks that screaming at her and insulting her is appropriate? or that it's going to get her to do what he wants? what the fuck??? like. how can someone DO this kind of thing and be okay with themself for it? thank you for wasting 5 hours of this guy's time so he didn't actually traumatize the hell out of someone holy shit
