Steve Jones It doesn’t matter if he IS wearing a MAGA hat, that is their freedom of speech. Everybody needs to have the same rights. That is their choice, if they want to support an ignorant president, that makes points off of stereotypes, then they can. Because homeless people have compassion. A few years ago a cat ( neighbours cat) jumped off a balcony and I heard cat meowing crying . Neighbours went away for a weekt and left poor cat alone on balcony with no food. The cat jumped and almost died I jumped down and rescued the cat . However I was stuck and couldn't get back up to my apartment so two homeless men helped / carry me over huge fence. Nobody else helped. No neighbours helped . Only two homeless men . Whoa...that totally blows my mind! Wish I knew how they did that. I've been watching WWYD for several years now, and it never ceases to amaze me how total strangers look out for one another. This is a great and powerful teacher in humanity, kindness, and compassion. I am 50 years old now, and I never have a dry eye when I watch these videos. Some of these videos hit very close to home, and I'm a bawling mess. I am so grateful for this show. Love one another. ❤
First guy: “he smells like sh*t toss him out” Guy 30 seconds later with cameras on him: “I mean there’s other resources out there for him” Ummmmmmmmmmmmm
He was so embarrassed when he realised he was on TV. It was so funny to see him getting so red in his face. He said how the homeless man was disgusting and smelled bad, which was just a prejudice and ofcourse not true.
abby leigh to be fair, a portion of homeless people absolutely ruin it for the rest. I worked at a grocery store, and we had homeless people who would take advantage of everything and would abuse everything and weren’t sanitary. On the other hand I’ve met and seen some of the nicest people who happened to be homeless, whether it be something they did, or something they said while I was working on a busy shift that just made my day better. The guy was absolutely wrong, uneducated, and lacked empathy, but I can understand his viewpoint even though I don’t share it whatsoever.
What’s really sad is you know WWYD usually chooses the most extreme reactions to air - the most callous vs the extremely kindhearted/outraged. If THIS is the best they had to air we have a looooong way to go with people having compassion for their homeless brothers and sisters.
Little bit of context… I live in Portland… and homelessness has been an issue around downtown (where this was filmed) for quite some time. Mostly due to fentanyl. Which also causes a lot of crime in association. It’s been more than just a nuisance. It’s been a major issue. And so of course that creates a lot of strong feelings with some people where I can understand the feelings they currently have. Now with that said… it’s not such a simplistic issue and you can’t just discard people who need a hand. So I still disagree with it. As a matter of fact… I’ve organized events to raise clothing and food for the homeless in the city. But I just wanted everyone to have a little more context to this is relation to where this is filmed.
It just goes to show that people don't give sh*t about poor people in this country. We've been so brainwashed into thinking that poor people are the cause of their own misfortune when they're usually the victims of stuff like mental disorders, addiction, bad home life, etc. People have known poor people should be helped more than almost anyone else since the beginning of civilization, but here we are
2 be fair it is bad for business if they keep coming. I work in a hospital and yes sometimes we let them snooze there, but we have to kick them out most of the time.
I thought this would be a silly scenario, because of course everyone would speak up. He's refusing to feed him, stealing the money, and throwing him out. Boy, was I wrong. 😖😞
It's not just Portland people who are mean to the homeless, it's literally the majority of America. Its fucking gross, honestly as long as they dont look like obvious fucking tweakers you should never treat a human being like garbage.
I mean I get where there coming from. Like if I was the owner I wouldn’t want someone who has hasn’t showered in days and is just too dirty. Like that’s just nasty
And if I'm uncomfortable with someone who smells like shit, is super sweaty and probably hasn't showered in months, I'm just a worthless cunt who doesn't feel sympathy :D
This is why everyone that lives near Portland, hates Portland. Hard decisions? You're just taking someone's good and turning it bad. I always feel bad for the homeless in my area and I don't feel like there is much I can do to help. This shows me that one of the best things to do is stand up for others when they are taken advantage of and to overcome prejudice. Thank you guys for this episode.
Crystal owl I’m guessing you don’t have to drawl with homeless people where you live. This one seemed polite but most are disgusting and aggressive with begging.
@@Yui-pm3ql i live in Reno NV we have a great deal of homeless people in my area, I just have a soft spot in my heart for people who are less fortunate. most people know live pay check to pay check and at any time anyone could find themselves in a sad situation.

Homeless person: "please I'm hungry." Everyone: "He would've used it for drugs." Not every homeless person is homeless bc of drugs. Some ppl fell on hard times or got sick. People are just so ignorant.
Sadly, it's actually pretty common - most homeless people have problems with alcohol/drug addiction, since they have no other form of happiness in their lives :(

Like ohh thank you so much for returning what is rightfully mine. Smh😒 I don't think s WWYD has ever got me so wound up.
I love the guy said, put yourself in their shoes try to have some compassion and try to think about what the other person might be going through what troubles they’ve had to face in their life with obstacles they had to overcome the fact that they may have a mental health issue or an addiction that could be keeping them from me! Great I love what he’s saying extremely much! It’s so inspiring! Thank you!
@Robert C How can you just categorise an entire group of people though? Like, I'm sure not all rich people are snobs like you say. I think it could be more in your head, ya know? Like richer people are generally seen to be more " successful " than poorer ones and so you could see them as being snobby assholes purely because they're accepted as being more " successful " when in reality, not all of them are snobs. Could be wrong though.
@Robert C Many rich people aren't snobs like you claim them to be. You're just categorizing them for no reason. Don't get me wrong, some of them are, but I doubt them to be the majority. In addition to that, many rich people donate to charity, despite the fact a huge amount of their money is being stolen from them with extremely inflated taxes, most of which go to either 'support' poor people using welfare programs (whose effectiveness is questionable at best) or to bottleneck their income even more.
Robert C Seeing this reply is just disgusting. People say that poor people are the ones that get the discrimination but rich people also have people just saying ALL rich people are horrible. I have a friend that is rich and acts rich, but when he plays, it’s like he’s a normal kid. All joyful, happy and playful. They too get stereotyped all the time. I just think people need to stop just looking at one side instead of all sides.
I work at a restaurant and there's this one homeless man who lives nearby who have people give him money to buy a meal all the time and my managers never once asked him to leave and just treat him like any other guest. One of my coworkers asked the manager why we let him in all the time and he said not only was it because it was the right thing to do, but that it reflects to the other patrons that all the staff has excellent character and reflects positively on the restaurant as a whole.
+Alok Bakshi i wasn't born with a golden spoon, necessarily, but i was born into a pretty lucky situation. I'm so empathic sometimes it physically hurts. i don't like rich people, but i know rich people who really do care.

I Chose Homelessness, because after giving 8 years for my country, spent 4 months in V.A. Hospital. I was thrown to the wolves over $2000. At one point had to take job after being discharged for only 2.5 weeks. There was snow, and ice on the ground, and I had to walk 2 mi one way to get to work, because I was desperate for the money. If you've ever been to the Midwest in the Winter time, you'll know it's not a good time to be homeless. My dad said " I was hooked up to 10 machines! " Have scar size of football, tracheostomy, coma, and more. Just letting you know how Sleazy our Govt. officials are first hand. I still choose work over assistance(besides food stamps) , because I'm only physically impaired, not disabled.😀💚
Most people are conflicted and I kind of see why restaurants have health codes they must abide by, however an impoverished man was virtually promised a meal he could've never gotten and stealing money is wrong. There is a saying about assuming and that's what happens when we assuming about a class. It's a lot to consider so not as many people are going to take the humanitarian route. It's illegal and enforced everywhere in Los Angeles County and it's always discussed as a crisis but it seems like it's a war that goes on the Earth is a home or at least that's the way God sees it which is why he says whatever you do to the least of them, you do to me. He is that close to humankind. I think morally they chose wrong, however the moral decision isn't all considering. Yes stealing is illegal, but in some places in America, so is being homeless. The police probably would have harassed the guy too. It's the way it's all set up sanitation codes and rights to refuse service. Another homeless person would be understanding bartender is acting like someone trying to keep their job. It matters to him more than the person with feelings he sent away.
@@lexussykes with all due respect, you're an idiot. I've met so many people that hang out at restaurants and bars that wear crusty, hoodies and smell like rotten ass. People have the right to be foul and disgusting. What's important is if they have the money to pay for the meal they order; in this case: YES he does! Any sane, educated businessman doesn't give a flying fuck about: race, creed, religion, political ideology, or social status; if they have money, that's ALL that matters. Anyone that discriminates based on ANY of the classifications I mentioned will be put out of business and outcompeted and that is a FACT. That's the beauty of capitalism, if your company won't sell to a specific group of people, another company WILL and will put you out of business and laugh at you as you go bankrupt
@Shadoww Nemesis01 Cities like Lancaster and Palmdale proposed that a law be passed in the county of Los Angeles, California that people be imprisoned for being homeless. Everywhere in the entire county besides Los Angeles, California itself has made life on Homeless people hard. I was homeless at a time and getting rest was damn nearly impossible. Restaurants and establishments with the signs that say, "We preserve the right to refuse service to anyone" signs of no loitering. Bus stops changed to be less comfortable for people to rest at night, no parking in parking lots. I went into detail about all the things that make having no place to lay your head down at night.
The mayor of the city is a racist man and that's part of the reason I'm not going back there, I volunteered for the city and that's how they did me. I am not an idiot people get offended by smells and they get kicked out for being smelly because of sanitation laws and what not and if they're told to leave, they do leave. The man had $20 which was given to him, $20 wasn't going to keep him there for a meal. It was messed up what that man at the counter did, but in some places he has the backings of the laws. The laws aren't the same everywhere but some places it's like this. This video is very accurate for certain places and I know it's true for Lancaster, California and that's why I'm not taking my butt back there. No I am not an idiot I know the laws to abide by are on the different places down to the cities. Different cities different states and different countries have different laws and different viewpoints on the matter of homelessness and really everything else.
@Shadoww Nemesis01 I have more awareness on this having been homeless in one of the worst places to be homeless at. I was trying to make a plan to leave Lancaster, thus leaving Los Angeles County for refuge when I had ran out of options for places to go as each one closed and welcomed no new customers at nightfall. All assistance was given in daylight hours. I had TAY, because it come along and my age allowed me to be there. I wanted to rest in the day or the time I was there, everyone wanted to use the televisions in the rooms. I was insomniac. It made me paranoid about people. My brain was struggling without rest I was happy when I had a motel for a weekend I made sure I got as much rest within that weekend as I possibly could. When I would attempt to rest on the bus stop law enforcement officers with their bright ass flashlights were being asses and shining them on my eyes. It was hell, but unless you go through it, you don't understand it. About food. Restaurants not fast food restaurants, but Restaurants real ones like Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and the Claim Jumper wouldn't tolerate having people in there like that, homeless people are then treated like cockroaches, or garbage like it don't matter where you go, just get the hell up out of here.
Honestly, people like that guy who actually have that kind of mindset were the reason why the last time I was homeless, I resorted to hunting and killing for food to survive like a wolf would instead of coming to people for help, because I knew how I was going to be treated, and I was a child at the time too.
My thing is not every homeless person use drugs. They could’ve loss their homes, families, and cars. I hate how people judge the homeless. You don’t know what happened to them or what they’ve been through.
I know right! I would have helped him so much more. Defended him. He has the right to be there. Does not in wrong. Has money so he CAN buy food. And gets stolen from (yes it's acted but if I didn't know). I would have needed to keep myself together to not slap the bartender and call the cops with the guy too like the last boys did

Steve Jones It doesn’t matter if he IS wearing a MAGA hat, that is their freedom of speech. Everybody needs to have the same rights. They had compassion!!!

Money allows us to be the way nature intended,,, assholes.
True
Most of everyone was awful in this one. Truly sad

I hope John helped him out a little, poor dude.
Man up
@@jmurdock8303 make me
@@goldenrule8706 make you what ? No one was talking to you
"It might become a habit." Yeah, I've got a pretty bad habit of needing to eat food every day too.
I love how john stops time at the beginning, truly an avenger's level threat
8:49 "that could be you, that could be me" "yes sir, that is me" 😭
I started crying 😭
Me too😢
Nevaeh Miller my my n H
I started crying!! Sad! Been homeless before, slept in my car, no fun
That was heart touching
My thing is not every homeless person use drugs. They could’ve loss their homes, families, and cars. I hate how people judge the homeless. You don’t know what happened to them or what they’ve been through.
And even if they were homeless from drug-related problems that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t serve them food
@@amandabisby3546 Exactly.
Sure, but people have to be careful and buy homeless people food, and not j give the money bc they could do anything with it
Some of them could have just been layed off and they couldn't pay rent or beavuse there where no other places hiring
Selma Jordan I agree
WTH??? People should have stuck up for that homeless guy more.
@@rayyanabbasi3615 Wtf are you talking about?!
I know right! I would have helped him so much more. Defended him. He has the right to be there. Does not in wrong. Has money so he CAN buy food. And gets stolen from (yes it's acted but if I didn't know). I would have needed to keep myself together to not slap the bartender and call the cops with the guy too like the last boys did
LOL This is Portland. A liberal Mecca where people believe in social issues unless it effects them
Right. They are humans too. Just down on their luck. I've been there and it sucks
Yeah but its fucking Portland
the first guy was stuttering when he was asked why he did that as he should hahah he should be ashamed
