- That Peter Kay Thing is a series of six spoof documentaries shown on Channel 4 in 2000. It was written by Peter Kay, Dave Spikey, Neil Fitzmaurice, and Gareth Hughes, and was directed by Andrew Gillman. The series was narrated by Andrew Sachs. Set in and around Bolton, each episode functions as a self-contained documentary following a different set of characters, many of them played by Kay… and these are the BEST MOMENTS from that series!

'The Ice-Cream Man Cometh' is arguably the funniest 30 minutes Peter Kay ever produced, phenomenal to be that good so early in his career. Absolute Legend.
Topmquality
the dvd commentary is hysterical
Here's to Peter Kay, a true comedy legend and British icon. A savage wit delivered with a generosity of spirit that surpasses the rest by miles.
The ice cream man was always my favorite. Please bring back a show like this
Very underrated series, this. It's almost semi-autobiographical, mainly because Peter did all of those jobs before going into stand-up.
He was Leonard?
@@rustyshackleford9048 Leonard is based on a real character who used to come into the petrol station where Peter worked, for a chat. He just wanted some company. Phoenix nights is also biographical - not necessarily Peter but people he knew or experienced. The club was heavily influenced by Bernard Manning's Embassy club in Manchester, in fact, the first episode was filmed there. Famously, the Embassy had a serious fire that was never bottomed, although Bernard did well out of it and recovered - that IS the original plot of series one, Phoenix Nights.
And he's still telling the same jokes 26 years later
Sadly I'm old enough to remember watching these live! They were so original and funny. I don't think there was a duff episode in the entire series. This then lead on to Phoenix Nights and Max & Paddy. A great comedy era.
The best thing he has done
" Where there's tragedy there's trade " 😂😂😂
Such an underrated show, you can see the beginnings of Phoenix Nights throughout.
I thank Peter every day (not in person) for putting Africa on the map. God bless.
Toto wants a word 😆
29:30 I nearly died watching this for the first time, genuinely couldn’t breathe for laughing
Oh mate, some of the funniest comedy ever made. Kay's material in all its forms have helped me through some tough times and I'll always be grateful.
The bingo guy they had to call another supervisor for help because the guy was marking 2 books he couldn't cope lol absolute classic lol
This is a true masterpiece. Impeccable comedy; hilarious
Bet Paddy wishes he still had that mullet 😂 Phoenix nights and Car share were the best things he did along with Max and Paddy
Love this man he's just so funny
Just brilliant!. 🙌😂❤️
Classics 🙌🏼
The moment when you realise Ray Von and Jeff from Peep Show are one and the same, how did my brain not register?
Nor mine. Blimey.
Also in The Office.
Brilliant! Before "The Office" as well, I believe.
Excellent
His live sec accent is excellent
Only true Peter Kay fans love this series
Peter Kay is hilarious
The Bingo Hall employee is so spot on, best yet. When him and his mate are talking about Keith Lard, his mates reaction is either real or he is the best actor ever. They got in trouble didn't they becuase there is a fire inspector in Bolton called Keith LAIRD! they had to make a statement apologising and swearing that he in no way inspired Keith Lard (BULLSHT!) and make a donation to the firefighters families charity
Doreen Gash 😂😂
❤❤❤
What’s got 90 balls and screws old woman 😂
All he is saying so true
Local con club used to fix it same winners 😂
Every time I see a local music festival I think off livesec. They asked me what’s in your glasses case
Me: glasses mate 🤣
Shaun
wonder why peter isn't doing any promo/interviews for his tour? hes not been on telly properly for 6 years, and with the weight loss, would be great to see, I hope hes not nervous/self conscious about it, and what the public and press might say.
He retired due to a family illness I think and went to live in Ireland. He wasn't well either by rumour......I've read reviews of a few of his concerts of late and they aren't too spectacular. I think his day is over as much as I love him.
516... gold dust,
Why does Peter make fun of people with epilepsy? It's not the first time
What about everyone is else he makes fun of? It's comedy, no one's safe
@rosemarycoupland1137
Better question why not???
This was as funny as Phoenix Nights.
I just bought this dvd for 25p from Oxfam
Bargain
The best peter kay TV series no doubt genius.
Its crazy how many people dont know rhis series existed.
Utah the bus driver 😂
Did you spot Catherine Tate anyone?
Are you taking liberities....brilliant well spotted
He really rated her, as stated in the DVD commentary, before she had done hardly any TV work and was basically unknown, thought she would gone far.
I think it's time for some new material from the recent shows instead of these raves from the grave and golden oldies.
Im 22 and this stuff is 100 times better than anyone of today's shit
For me Peter Kaye is the best British comedian of all time and no one comes close. The only reason Ricky Gervais is as big as he is, is because Peter Kaye isn’t a sell out.
The same as his book the sound of laughter
Pure comedy genius
Very intelligent and he is a genius.
Is that training for the new CoOp centre? 4:10
Believe it or not, I’ve only just found this, and after seeing him at Birmingham I’m now a huge fan.
I do love the bingo hall and the worlds oldest paper boy 😂
The first clip,he sounds like George Galloway 🤮
I used to have this on dvd and I gave it to oxfam
Genius

Bye bye Sunday football
She was 15,or 15 and a half

Catherine Tate in his show before she hit it big then she returned the favour when Peter Kay played a secene with nana in her show lol great comedians
Peter John Kay was born on 2 July 1973 in Farnworth, Lancashire, where he attended Mount Saint Joseph School, leaving with a GCSE in art. Addicts to Bingo, ten percent off and hilarious comedy 🤣👍
