Just picked up an S9 FE somewhere around the end of March, and I have been loving it so far (I also got it on sale for $349.99). I currently am using Krita as my main art application until I decide if I am ready to start spending money on art programs. The animation speed increase made this tablet feel so much better to use. Thanks for this video!
I wanted to thank you for the informative videos! 🙏🏼 You are the only one who makes videos using Android tablets and associated drawing apps. I chose the Samsung Tab S8 because I have everything else from Samsung. It's my first tablet with a pen. Looking forward to getting everything set up. 😍
Great video, Brad!
Easy recommendation for artists I know who use galaxy tablets!
Another useful video. Thanks. Will you be doing another look at the S6 Lite 2024 model? But I'm honestly leaning towards the same Samsung tablet you're using in this video. I'm still using the S7 FE you recommended but it may be time to move up to the S9.
Since there isn't very much tech news, I'll be looking forward to your updated Android drawing app list. 😁😁
Last, but not least, I've been experimenting with drawing on the Kindle Scribe. I know it's not an "art application" but it's really good for straight-ahead sketching without all the bells and whistles of the art apps. It's really like drawing on paper with a pencil, no layers, no pinch to zoom, etc. just drawing.
Awesome, I've been doing it right! Haha
NICE!
Hey Brad are you gonna review the new Wacom Movink pen display?
Nice background lighting 👍
Thanks 😁
Could you make a video talking about pixel art?
i like artflow as drawing software a lot!
Can you please review the HP Spectre Fold and the asus zenbook fold.
How about that Wacom Movink Oled Pen Display, looks pretty awesome 😊
plz make a video on the app CONCEPTS ...i saw your old video but i dont know why you are not reviwing that app since years (8years ) ...plz make a video on it plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz🥺🥺🥺
The end of last week my Galaxy Tab s9 FE arrived, so far I'm loving it. This video was really helpful! Some of the things I already knew, but some were completely new.
Great video again. It's funny one of the first settings I did as well was Vivid Mode. though I never thought about keeping it off for other displays to see. I have recently traded in my galaxy tab s8 ultra and got the iPad Air. Looking forward to the (hopefully) iPad event on the 7th 12.9 air would be a game changer for me!! Do you or anyone else here have an apple or Samsung preference?
I tend to use Apple a little more, but I think the Samsung tablets are great. It comes down to what OS you're used to for most folks.
@@thebradcolbow I agree comfortability is always going to make your workflow more smooth and enjoyable.
I just bought a new Tab S9 FE, first thing I did was try to download Fresco. Stupidly didn't realise you couldn't get it on Android (thought it was just procreate). So I listed it for sale and went and bought a used iPad Air 4 haha :p Not a fan of Apple but it's actually pretty good and better in hand than the S9 FE.
Thanks for sharing! Btw, your camera might be in auto-focus mode so screen is blurred and focuses on your hands in some parts.. 😅
It's a feature in the samsung tablet, pwm screen flickering on the amoled samsung displays
Great video, as always! I'm a bit late to comment, so I don't expect a reply, but I'm intrigued if there's a particular screen protector you recommend for the larger Samsung tablets (14.6 inch models)
I've been using mine without a screen protector. The pen will not scratch the screen. Just get a case that covers the screen for when you are not using it.
@silentgoblin7722 it's more about tactile feel for me. The screen just feels so slippy without one.
One of the things I discovered now that I am drawing so much on my 6s Lite, there is an option on most of the drawing apps to disable the ability for your finger to draw lines so NO MORE PALM DOTS!!!! but all the gestures still work XD
Is your s6 lite slow to boot as well? It takes mine at least 5 minutes.
@@AustenValentine don't turn mine off hardly ever, but today I clocked mine at 3min 57sec but don't have that many apps on mine and the ones I do have are mostly art related plus a few emulators, Mine is an older model 6s Lite from 2020 or maybe even older, the only real complaint I have is RAM when on Clip Studio I need to keep it below 40 layers, and one Clip studio is open opening another app can make it close Clip studio to save memory when drawing get too complex
Got a tab S6 lite a couple of years ago and have been loving it! My only problem was the feeling of the rubber tip on the spen, but I'm changing that soon
Online shops/market places sell replacement nibs (all kinds, soft and hard tips). I ended up buying a Wacom One pen (because same tech) and use that.
@@franciscodetonne4797 thank you, that's what I was planning to buy and it's good to know it will work
Wacom one pen tips fit the S Pen! Just put a "paper like" screen protector on my s9 Fe, and switched the nibs out, feels great now, for like $20
Which version is it? I got the original and it's brutally slow to start up. I hate it. Tried factory reset and opting out of updates, but it's just not a good experience. And then there's all the Samsung bloatware. So I'd like to know how you made it bearable.
@@AustenValentine I have the 2020 model and I deleted every app it would let me and just kept my drawing stuff. I also turned off the page when you swipe right on the home screen
I don’t even have a Samsung (apple girlie) but I still be watching. Brad you often recommend iPads as ur favorite device? Is that changing as you move away from procreate?
I'd like to know as well.
Thanks Brad for the video, awesome, good ideas. You can also use that tablet as a monitor for Xbox Live gaming, not an artist tip, but definitely takes advantage of that big display 😂
Is there gonna be a tab s6 lite 2024 review soon??
Please make one
And a comparison with the tab s9 fe
I love your videos💕💕
Wow, I had no idea that was a thing!
@@thebradcolbow Samsung released it quickly last week😅
I was waiting for your review to know if should get it or not
I bought my S9 FE last week. I got the 256Gb version on sale, it was €70 more than the S6 Lite 2024 64Gb, €20 more than the S6 128Gb and the same price as the S9 FE with 128GB. The FE has 128Gb storage + 6Gb or memory or 256Gb storage + 8Gb memory. S6 Lite only 64Gb or 128Gb storage + 4Gb memory. The screen refresh is 60Hz S9 vs 90Hz FE and the resolution is lower on the S6 and it runs on the older Exynos 1280, instead of the 1380 in the FE. The 1380 is significant faster. The S9 FE has an IP68 rating, making it water and dust proof and it has a fingerprint scanner.
If you only do some sketches and limit your layers and complexity of your artwork, you should be fine with the slower 1280 and the 4Gb of memory. If you want to create higher resolution artworks, then the 2-4Gb of memory will come in really handy and the 1380 will handle larger size brushes a bit better. The 90Hz screen refresh makes everything a bit more fluid. For me totally worth the bit of extra investment.
Looking forward to the Wacom Oled Video 😊
3:23 What breed is your dog?
Brad have you tried the wacom one pen on the tab?
me & a few other friends have it as our daily driver, much nicer to hold for long art sessions
Somehow "Natural Screen Mode" looks a bit too low saturated for me. Is it just me because i am used to vivid on my phone and tablet? But compared to a macbook screen "natural" still looks desaturated. I cant decide which is best. Something in between would be perfect.
Recently bought the S9 Ultra❤
I'm gonna get that eventually
Yes, turn the Air stuff off, turn of edge menu, turn off all the S-pen features of Samsung basically. Then I switch to 3 button nav instead of swip nav.
I heard that the galaxy tab s10 series will have Exynos chip. I hope this ain't true.
What's with the refresh lines?
It's just the camera moving at the same speed as the tablet refresh rate.
I go back and forth between natural and vibrant mode.
Me waiting for my galaxy tab s8 ultra, upgrading from the s7fe
Its a brilliant tablet, I use it everyday.
@@Dark-hr3rs I can't wait for it to arrive
Meh better than whatever apple crap
For me, the procreate on ipad is attractivenes to people who want try to enter digital artist, if samsung had his own drawing app, it would be equal rivals
Is there any way to calibrate the accuracy of pen tip detection? I'm about to give up with my tablet because it's writing about 2 milimeter off the tip of the pen. 😢
It was always like that right out of the box.
That's a big flaw to me because even a cheap Veik graphic tablet has this option.
Buy an iPad + Pencil
Sometimes, magnets might cause accuracy issues, so it could be related to your case or stand. Otherwise, it could be a defect. You could try to return it for a new one or talk with Samung support.
Imagine using the galaxy watch as a custom dial
I like software i can own. If clip studio offered a pay app i would pay for it even above 30$.
I mean 8 dollars is worth it you could spend more than that on art supplies in a month paper colored pencils etc.
Samsung's pwm always disturbs me...
Anyone else has issues with Infinite painter crashing out of nowhere when using certain features and not being able to access their work anymore???
Yes, files with too many layers, but i have a S6 lite
I don't have any problem
For me the first thing to set Up on everything these days is DARK MODE, everything. I can not stand WHITE PAGES, apps, programs, browsers, websites, windows anything WHITE is so annoying now it makes me sick. After using DARK MODE more and more across everything that I can, I have become absolutely allergic to White on the screen. Now I feel my eyes burn and kind of get a mild headache by staring at predominantly white stuff, so it was very hard to watch this video, and it has become an issue to me to watch many youtubers lately that are still using white on their devices and web pages. A white canvas to draw in an app that has a dark mode interface is obviously ok, I can just dim the screen a little bit if necessary, but all the rest must be DARK MODE. I can not understand how it took so long for this to be a thing and how I was able to use computers when everything was white. Sadly there still many web pages, some programs and apps that don't implement the DAR MODE option. Love your videos by the way.
You just talk about native things There are so many feature in good lock app (good lock is on galaxy store). And also labs settings are amazing you can use full screen on split screen, split screen for all apps etc. Btw ı don't like taskbar edge screen better than the taskbar .you can off on screen settings 🔥🔥
Dude that pwm screen flickering is h0rrible in ur samsung tablet, w0r$t screen ever made for your eyes by the samsung
First thing to do is turn on Dex. Second thing to do is never turn off Dex.
Lol
DeX is dumb
@@XMGi00 wrong
For the love of all that is holy, processing power, speed and smoothness, turn off the RAMplus! You dont need extra SLOW hard drive ram unless your running a million applications at once! Here are some cons with it on by default:
- bogs down boot time and processor speed
- wear and tear your drive reducing its life span
- gets used even if there is enough physical ram slowing system down and consuming more battery
Just turn it off, the FE versions will be a bit smoother, and youll get to use all of your power in the flagship versions!
Tabs and iPads don’t have hard drives 😂
@@XMGi00 yeah I meant flash drive
The best thing to do with any Sumsuck product is not to buy it in the first place. Have had 2 and not 1 is any good. Latest is the S9fe. What a shitbox. Back to my trusty Huawel 12.6.
You have problems
Lol
