- Taking a moment to switch back from all the recent Crypto videos to good old household DIY.
In this video we replace a Manrose Quiet extractor with a fault (and typically just out of warranty) and replace it with a new Envirovent model with an overrun timer function. I will also install a seperate inline Backdraft shutter to prevent winds blowing air back into the bathroom.
From research, I looked at a number of fan to choose the best (quietest and best extraction fan with Backdraft shutter) and the top two were:
1) Envirovent (5yr warranty): amzn.to/3kfAMO6
2) Manrose: (3yr warranty): amzn.to/3BNHfWB
◉The best in terms of inline Backdraft shutter is this one: amzn.to/3o5Y8a1
Have you seen a better extractor fan? Have you seen a better way of keeping backdrafts out of the bathroom via the fan tunnel? If so, let me know in the comments below.

What if there are only 2 wires coming out of the old wall wiring? Only red and black. Where should I reconnect those?
Hi handyman , is the LS earth wire in the fan and timer unit aswell , i have power incoming into timer but nothing going out to fan , please save me
It sounds like there are two noises; the fan and duct, right?
What’s the make of back draught protector ?
It's made by Kair. Link to back draft protector is in the description
Didn't explain wiring
Never ever use a volt pen to prove a circuit is dead, I assume you meant a non contact voltage pen ? Never use them to prove dead and never use a neon screwdriver, you should only use a GS38 approved two pole voltage indicator. And VDE insulated screwdrivers , if you haven’t got the right tools then leave it to a professional qualified electrician . Oh and never rely on the fan isolator switch to prove dead . .
Good points. I used a non contact voltage pen. When a isolator is switched off, I also use a voltage meter to double-check connectors before handling
The old one is terribly inefficient...
