Thanks for sharing. I'm about to embark on a bathroom refit, and will be fitting an extractor fan to eradicate the terrible amount of condensation. I will probably go for something a bit beefier, as I don't actually use the loft for anything other than to store things I'm not ready to chuck out. I've already watched another tutorial on the subject, but watching yours cleared up the grey wire in the four wire cable setup.
Thank you for this video. I have exactly the same model and know where in the instructions does it say to remove (or not ) the flimsy white cover on the back. So thank you for clarifying.
Always use rigid insulated duct in In unheated areas for the best performance. If using flexible Ducting , then it has to be 90 % taut, and only 300 mm in length .
Having just replaced my fan I was shocked to see how much fluff was caught in the plastic extrusion flexible hose. This prevents good air flow, reducing the extraction. I’ve now replaced with the smoother semi flexible alloy tubing, that looks to have a much more efficient smooth lining surface.
Hello, we bought a vent axia lo carbon selv unit extractor fan. We wired it but can't seem to be able to activate the timer although the LS is wired. Would appreciate any help/advice.
Great content and brilliant in terms of installing a extractor fan. I've recently replaced a plug cord switch, with a pir motion sensor switch that is situation in the ceiling. So as l enter the downstairs toilet the ceiling spot lights turns automatically. Unfortunately the ceiling extractor fan does not come on. It only comes on when l manually switch on the isolation switch situation on the outside the toilet. Do l have to run a cable from the pir motion sensor in order for the fan kick in? Please advise.
Yes I think you do...double check with an electrician if you're unsure, but if the Pir is the thing telling the lights to come on now (instead of the switch on the wall), then the extractor needs to get the same message at the same time. Running a cable from the Pir to the extractor should do that. Equally, I believe a cable from the light to the extractor should do the same...best of luck!
Great video! What I want to know how you connect to the bathroom light to the execrator? Or is that the execrator detects humid to start working on its own?
The extractor is wired into one of the lights using a 3 core and earth cable, which has a switch wire to trigger it to come on. It then stays on afterwards until the humidity is gone
It’s a great little video but you would have been better off with an in-line fan with that access in the loft. They have much better extract rates. On a separate note, you never did an update on your underfloor heating ;-)
it’s ironic that I used to be an electrician and now i’m an accountant (office boy haha) and yet still enjoy watching this and doing my own projects 🤣🤙

Nice one office boy. Will watch this tonight when I'm back from work. 💪🏾
Wired in correctly , on three core and earth cable black is sleeved brown and is switched live ,, grey is neutral and sleeved blue

Hello, did you consider using insulated ducting?
Very good thank you , but how do yo known when the humidistat is set correctly ?
Serious trial and error! I'm still trying to dial mine in correctly 😭😂
@@OfficeBoyBuilder ah ok thanks

Great video with some really good tips, thanks 😊
Is normal to hear like vacuum all the time from the extractor ??? At the end is annoying to hearing it all day
First viewer! And what I need to do on my bathroom next week, so thanks as ever OBB!
Awesome! Hope it helps!

Thanks! Hope it helps 💪
Have you kept it at the (default) Low speed or increased to the higher? Would be great to hear how loud it is on high speed.
It was on the highest speed! Super quiet 💪
@@OfficeBoyBuilder thanks I was looking at this or the Xpelair model similar or the icon15 Would been great to hear at full speed

I did look at those, but wasn't sure about the noise level because it's a much bigger motor.
I may look into it as an upgrade for the future
Great stuff
Fans on high speed sound like a Boeing Airplane engine that the service technicians couldn't be bothered to put all the bolts back in properly
Good job mate
