Dave Allen was a personal friend of mine when I lived in London. He was the kindest, most thoughtful person, he was also a very accomplished painter. We had many memorable occasions with him, he was much loved and very much missed. One of life's great storytellers.

I grew up watching him on TV and saw him live twice in the same tour. The routine was virtually the same but just as funny the second time around, and yes, the airplane set was a part of that show,
He always looked like a lovely guy.

He was very big in the 60s. Drank whiskey on stage was Catholic and ridiculed the Catholic faith and was very loved. It was at the time considered risqué 😂😂😂😂

Dave Allen was a brilliant comedian of the 1970s onwards the whole family would watch him on TV, he got in trouble for some of his jokes which today nobody would care about, people have tried to copy him, use his material but there is only one Dave Allen a pure genius

When this was recorded, airliners crashed far more than they do now. Dave Allen was going over genuine fears and making people laugh about it.
I used to love watching his show and even now, I can hear the intro music in my head. The way he tore into Ian Paisley, a Northern Irish Unionist politician and church minister was brilliant. This too during the Troubles, when getting shot or blown up was a real fear for some.
It's great to see guys of this generation like yourselves enjoying Dave Allen. I grew up watching him and others who are now legends.

Dave Allen requested his material not be seen after his death. I can only assume the family managed to overturn this and for us to enjoy his fabulous talent. He is one of the best comedians in my lifetime x

A Dave Allen show on TV was something to behold back in the 60s and 70s, when the UK only had 3 TV stations with little worth watching late at night. His observational humour was unique.
Dave Allen always made me feel exhausted, I used to laugh so much watching him. No one has ever made me laugh so much..

Good clean comedy, used to watch the Dave Allen show growing up in the 70's. Born way back in 1936 he passed away in 2005 but a great comedian

Dave Allen is HILARIOUS. I was born in the midwest in Louisville, KY area...now I love KY...but I ALWAYS have wanted to live in the UK. I adore their humor, great manners, beautiful country. And the way they do most things seem to make so much more sense than how we do them here in the USA. Thanks for the content, and apparently our sense of humor, and love of Europe and the UK is similar. You make me nostalgic for my youth young man. BUT, such a good job Joel! THANK YOU. By the way, since you love comedy as much as I, was wondering have you heard a young successful comedian named Matt Rife? I think he is not only hilarious, but honest...and uses old school, up front humor that a lot of comedians are almost scared to do anymore. Love the guy! HOWEVER, when it is a simple mistake, without any insult intended...it is NOT necessary to come across quite so aggressive in your correction. And FOR THE RECORD, I said NOTHING of his nationality. I only mentioned that I loved EUROPEAN, and UK atmoshere, and would love living there. Black box records flight information including audio of pilots, and designed to be near indestructible. Usually bright orange to assist in recovery. It is designed to capture information that may explain why the plane crashed including the conversation within the cockpit, and is a vital tool in reconstructing air crashes during an investigation.

@@gerardflynn3899 weight planes need to be made as light as possible to fly, even a ladder or steps can cause issues on certain planes. One proposed solution was to have a large parachutes in the fuselage, this has been proven to work, however it was also decided that he chance of a plane crashing was so low that it wasn’t cost effective. You are more likely to get hit by a car than be unfortunate enough to be in a fatal plane crash.

There are normally 2 'black boxes' on a plane and they are actually orange as then they are easy to find. One records the flight data which includes everything that happens during the flight mechanically and the other is the voice recorder that records all that is said by the pilots on board and when they are talking to Air Traffic Control. They have a 'Ping' also that lasts for about 14 days I think which also helps in the recovery.
Try out Ken Dodd. My parents went to an Audience with Ken Dodd gig, started at 5pm and meant to end at 7pm but went on till midnight as he couldn’t stop himself. It ended on tv but only had an hours worth of footage shown.

The Black Box is the plane's flight recorder which records everything that goes on in the cockpit and is always the thing that has to be found in the event of a crash so investigators can work out what happened beforehand. I don't know why they call it the Black Box though as it's actually orange!
But anyway, Dave Allen was a brilliant comedian but he sadly died in 2005. He did many comedy sketches and jokes about various subjects, mainly religion, but he was also a brilliant storyteller! His ghost stories were the best - he had the audience gripped and in complete silence...until the punchline at the end of the story! LOL! Just brilliant! 😀 Hope you can react to some more Dave Allen stuff soon. Oh, and Peter Kay too! 😊
Lee Evans always makes gags when an audience member goes to the toilet. You should def watch him. He is a comedy genius.
I remember watching Dave Allen growing up. He was so funny and sometimes close to the knuckle. I still picture this line in a Deep NI accent. " I'll get a thimble full of petrol". I'm sure many of your supporters will know the gag. :)

Dave Allen was very good, and quite controversial for his time.
PS - he also had his own travelling documentary series around 1976-77, exploring other cultures. I forget what it was called now.

Hello Joel and pals. Takes me back to watching him in childhood, laughing non stop.
I first flew from Heathrow to NY. The IRA were motar bombing it. I said to my friend that, with a window seat, at least I could see if they took the wing off. The chap in the aisle seat turned a funny colour, stood up and never came back.
Next I flew to Spain to meet my girlfriend on holiday. The pilot missed the runway at Alicante and took off again, circled a while, then got it right second time. The only and typically British complaint was that we were a little bit late. None of the panic in these jokes, though they were exceptionally funny and superbly timed.

Dave Allen was a legend , so funny its a shame that the humour is wasted on two of these guys, they really had no idea what was happening , that marks the difference between British humour and American humour.

If those masks drop and your not descending worry, because there's only a few minutes of air for the passengers and he has to get below 12k ft before it runs out. So if you're not descending there's even bigger problems.

That was quite late in his life, he did many tv series’s in the uk, a fantastic comedian. I went to see him live in London once in the 90’s, brilliant. Probably my favourite comedian ever & loved his views on religion, glad you understood his humour.
Black box has all the pilot's conversations recorded so that if there is a crash with no live witnesses, the black box will be in a good enough state to play back the recordings to ascertain the cause of the crash
That is a different box. The Black Box, is orange coloured and records all of the aircraft information throughout the flight, including speed, heading, instrument recordings etc. The CVR, or Cockpit Voice Recorder is the one that records the voices within the cockpit.
As a kid i was banned from being around when he was on TV. Can't see why he seems like any decent stand up from what I see here.
In his shows he also did sketches as well as this part, the black box records all the information for that plane, like height, speed, instrument read outs and all the radio messages, so that if it crashes the investigation will have all the info to determine what happened. That's why it's one of the first thing they look for. Hope this helps.....

Dave Allen was really the king of the Incontinents when live - people would literally piss themselves, laughing! It was murder queuing for the loo afterwards! It’s great to see him again, thanks lads!
Dave Allen one of those clever comics whose material never fades, a very class act. As to worrying about the masks coming down. THe pilots arealready ahead of you, they get a pressurisation warning first so descending fast. They will be ar 10K long before that oxygen runs out. AS to the black boxes these are recorders as theres normally two. One a data one, the other a voice. These designed to take all incidents and give evidence in a enquiry if needed. Usually orange and not black too. Hope that answers some of what you questioned about. AS i say though joel Dave allen....class in a glass.

the black flight recorder is a machine that logs the flights and what happened during the flight. They recently found a flight recorder after the plane was destroyed by Russia or Ukraine MH40 recently.
You should watch him teaching a kid how to tell the time. Very funny.
