      @@lisacox3750 When I first saw this episode on TV. He scared me because I was use to him being calm, funny and nice. It was a complete left field but I like it now as an adult because he can show he is tough when it's needed and not all the time.

    • @calisongbird
      @calisongbird Рік тому +4

      @@lisacox3750 Yes, but that’s not the whole joke. @Eliza is missing the racial angle. Watch Brady’s commentary on the Chappelle sketch. It was Brady’s clapback to Paul Mooney’s joke about Brady “making Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X.” He didn’t like that joke, and not just because he’s too sensitive.
      Brady was actually making a serious point about how only a certain type of macho, “gangsta” posturing is considered “black enough,” and that blackness actually encompasses a wide range of personality types and behaviors - just like anyone else. Wayne Brady is trying to get people to think past their limiting stereotypes, and not just dismiss black men like him and Bryant Gumbel as “too white.”

    Wayne Brady was known for being super family friendly and never touched curse words or controversial subject matter in his comedy so the humor of this skit came from the shock of seeing him act all gangster. The line “is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a b*tch” made people spit out their drinks from the laughing and the shock.

    Brother on the right needs to expand his mind. Before the past couple of generations, our ancestors (during the civil rights era) spoke like Mr. Brady, maybe not with the same cadence, but with elegance.

      Fuck that, there are plenty of black men today that talk with elegance and properly. It's just the men he associates himself with and engage on social media that has influenced him. He really needs a broader scope. If you watch his reactions the guy is literally a kid, his knowledge of an abundance of things is very limited.

    Wayne Brady did a lot of freestyle that was hilarious on Whose Line Is It Anyway. Not just rap either, they'd throw random genres at him with titles for the songs and he'd have to come up with it off the top of his head. It was actually pretty impressive, but it was all just for the sake of comedy.
    The whole show is hilarious, but if you check it out, make sure you get the version hosted by Drew Carey..
    I would say Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles steal the show, but they were all great.

    What led to the events of this skit was when Chapelle said (on the show) that Wayne Brady is so white that he makes Bryant Gumble look like Malcolm X. It was a setup they'd arranged previously, to which Brady expressed some (false) anger.
    So then Wayne Brady came in and took over Chapelle's Show for one episode. A longer version of this skit was part of that.

    Yo If I’m not mistaking I think I remember watching a video of Donnell Rawlings the dude who says I’m rich bxtch, plays ashy Larry, the guy who gets shot at the beginning talking about how bad he was treated or how bad filming for the show was. He says in the scene where he is shot you can see is arm is caught on the gate of the window by his jacket. He is dangling from his jacket being caught and they still went with that shot.
