It's because in the past, when a black man sought or became educated, they were seen to be taking on the white man's way of life, speaking and acting like the "white devil," and it came with hefty resentment from others in their community. Check out the film "Glory" for a good explanation of this murky part of history.

True, but I will say, some folks make it hard to be united, in various ways. Those who do violence or criminal acts, but then there are those who love Republicans. We were always divided since we were taken from Africa, intentionally. Being in the field vs. the house. Being sold and separated from families. Being ghettoized. Being lynched for trying to become successful away from slavery. Mass incarcerated for the same crimes whites do. It is hard to be united when from the first days, fundamentally, we were scattered, put into poverty by station, and kept uneducated in as many ways as they could do under threat of death. No other group has been divided up in so many ways in the same place over hundreds of years. It was always meant to keep us powerless and dependent as slaves and later as the descendants of said slaves to reduce the likelihood of reprisal.

@@mateohodge6998 Regrettably it isn't just kid sh!t. Many people, like Donnell's brother could tell you that ignorant salvos have come from grown ass adults. On the record, I remember reading the first couple of chapters of Gifted Hands by Ben Carson. Nobody was bothered when he was terrorizing kids and getting D's and F's. It was only when his illiterate mother got on bended knees, asked God for wisdom in turning her son's situation around, and things actually started turning around -when she started getting pushback from other mothers in the community. I've personally experienced these demonic salvos from adults and it's not made up. It's f'd up because it attempts to neutralize a person realizing their purpose and growing as a human being. We make it about race but if you look at it on a higher plane, it really isn't about race more than pursuing purpose that the Creator gave to each of us -and demons trying to stop it.

Wayne Brady is one of _those_ guys that you ask, “Is there anything he *can't* do?”
    Sort of like Alfonso Ribeiro.

Wayne is so talented. Sad that anyone would try to tear him down for that.

Its funny, when I first saw the sketch I remember saying, "Hey did you see that guy swinging from the gate? Great directing!"

Wayne Brady is talented as FUCK!! That time on who’s line is it anyway where they did a skit forward and then did it backwards. Brady jumped down initially and then that fool did it in reverse and did the jump on the floor backwards amazing 🤩

I look up to Wayne Brady as a "black nerd" and as a Black Icon, always. So this sketch did and always will hit different.

That was one of the greatest skits ever on TV, and you mean to tell me that swinging on the fence was IMPROV?? SOOOOOOO FUNNY! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I just say that Wayne Brady is one of the most multi-talented people in show business. He is a modern day Sammy Davis Jr. Real talk!

To me that was probably the funniest skit in the entire Chappelle’s show. Where Wayne took over Dave’s show and then they played that Training Day spoof. Mainly it was hilarious answering what Paul Mooney said about him while also showing Wayne has depth in his character as well as him staying true to who he is.

I have wondered about Donelle’s scene from the very beginning. I always thought that his “hanging” was just a brilliant, and a super fine detail, that enhanced the sketch! Come to find out it was random makes it even better!😂
