Yeah I did this a year ago, CECHA00 Japanese full BC PS3 bundle with games and things for £180. Cleaned and repasted it myself. Runs great. Way better value than a PS5 as it has such a strong library.
RETRO is the way to go, THE GAMES WERE WAY BETTER, THE SYSTEMS WERE EASIER TO PLAY GAMES, AND EVER SINCE DISCORD, YOU CAN PLAY ALMOST ANY ONLINE GAME IF IT HAS A BIG ENOUGH FOLLOWING. GO OLD SCHOOL AND BE HAPPY AGAIN.
I’m a lifetime PlayStation player but I can happily admit Sony has lost touch with their consumer base. They were on top of the industry for close to 10 years I’d argue but recently they’ve been faltering. This generation has been an absolute disappointment. This Pro release is a half measure upgrade that costs the same as what I’d imagine the PS6 to cost. Idk wtf they’re thinking but no one is paying that price for essentially the same machine with no idea of the future line up of games. That’s another huge problem with this console and Sony’s entire business model this generation. Us the consumers have no idea what we even bought the PS5 for. There is no word at all on what is being worked on by Sony’s in house studios. Nothing to look forward to and say “this is why I have or am buying a PS5.” It’s absolutely ridiculous and their pursuit of a live service juggernaut like Fortnite is just about the dumbest shit they could try to do this generation and now they’re paying for it. Good thing I’m able to go back and enjoy older games because besides remakes there’s nothing much that excites me this generation.
I hear you. I feel like I could’ve just kept my PS4 slim and been perfectly content right now. Got a launch PS5 and all I’ve played on it is cross gen PS4 games and maybe TLOU remake as the only exclusive. Waiting on the physical release of Alan Wake 2 and the MGS3 remake but honestly I’m just not enthusiastic about gaming as I was maybe 10 years ago. The industry has just become stale and expensive. Everyone chasing the easy live service money. I’m not even that exited about GTA 6 because I know that’s going to be all about the online and the single player will be a secondary thought.
Beautifully written, well said, agree with all of this. The PS5 Pro is twice the cost of the PS4 Pro, to put it into perspective, and the PS4 Pro had a disc drive. The games didn't usually look much better on the previous gen Pro either but it would get you 4K display output on a 4K TV at least. Back then we moaned about the lack of a 4K Blu-ray drive but it was easier to overlook when it launched at the same price as the original PS4, and the original PS4 then received a price cut. The PS3 Slim launched at a much lower price than the original so it was even better value. Both the PS3 and PS4 at this point in their lives had so many great games too, not just rereleases. It just feels like Sony seeing what they can get away with. They ask more and more for less and less. This is a barren, nothing generation. Not even one new game to launch alongside the PS5 Pro, the Cerny video literally showed Demon's Souls again, the launch title for the original PS5 which is itself a remake of a PS3 era game. I think that sums it up - prices increase, fewer and fewer games. Including PS Plus, and the free monthly games seem to be cheaper and cheaper ones even though that too has had a price rise. They don't care as long as people keep paying up.

Playstation needs to move the HQ back to Tokyo, where the rest of Sony is. Nissan did this same sillyness with their Infiniti unit moving to Hong Kong, before backtracking and going back to Yokohama. All the weird decisions at Playstation begun when they moved the HQ in 2016 to Foster City.
I think in Canada it rough;y the same price as Australia. We pay $799 for disc and $699 for digital ps5 slim. Now they are asking $1200 Au$ for aPs5 Pro with no disc drive. Sorry Sony we all wernt born yesterday , they have let down all the loyal Sony fans

Some of us already have physical ps5 games and they are making this hard push towards digital only. Not including a disc drive is insulting. And there are people who live in places where the internet is bad. We rely on physical games and blu rays instead of streaming. So they just isolated a huge portion of their audience.

Besides, everyone should be standing up to actually own their games. Once they pull the servers or lose the license, your game is gone. Never will recoup what they lost... Their (R.O.I. , return on investment), is only 1 part of their failure, the bigger problem was attacking their loyal customers that complain about most issues, yet alone WOKE in games. When you not only go against the grain of what your majority audience likes, but then reply to those whom took the time to give constructive criticism about the product, is not a good business philosophy. Then people that support your industry, keeps their money and you lose said business. Keep the boycott of the new way of gaming: 1. Promote a game 12 months prior to launch 2. Release game that is not completed game, ( Seasonal downloads, with upgrades needed without top tier bundle release paid prior to release date). 3. Release game early for a fee. 4. Make micro transactions, not just skins but UPGRADES, that only the top whales can afford to stay relevant. 5. Then release DLC maps for a fee, for either OLD REMASTERED maps, or several recycled dead maps that are morphed together to create profit. Until you stop opening your wallet, you will keep getting this garbage. Especially now that SONY has very limited competition for top tier games.

At that time it was the GTA 5 edition bundled with another game (Watch Dogs 1) and it was even on sale and its price was around €349 or $477 in 2014, if I'm not mistaken. I've been playing on PC since the PS5 came out and I'm insanely happy with my choice as I don't need to pay for subscriptions to play online, for example. I occasionally still play on my PS4 but singleplayer only games.

The problem is that companies tell they know what players want. But the opposite is the case. Cerny himself said that 3/4 of the players play in performance mode. That's because players care more about performance than graphics. The industry needs to stop focusing on graphics and concentrate more on the actual game. Look at Astro Bot. Game of the Year! It's all about the art style and performance. Astro Bot is beautiful and runs smoothly, but not because it has ultra-realistic graphics with thousands of details, but because it has an art style that looks good and still lets the game run smoothly on existing hardware. Nobody needs a PS5 Pro. The industry needs to wake up and focus more on creativity, ingenuity and enthusiasm instead of looks. 4K and RT are nice but they're just gimmicks to sell hardware. In the end, these features don't make a game better.
I agree but we all know how it went with X360/PS3 and then how it was on PS4/XO - games with molasses 30fps just to look nice on screenshots and get points in reviews for having some graphical effects and whatnot. SONY made a right call to bring this point of "Quality quality and Performance performance" and that 3/4 gamers prefer at least 60fps (note: performance also means 120fps in some games!) because that sets the stage for PS5 Pro optimized games to at least not drop to 30fps. Also if game devs or general public didn't know these statistics they now know. Of course it would be for the best for game developers to take notice in the way they always aim to make PS5 games have performance mode at 60fps despite loss of graphical fidelity. Then PS5 Pro will be there to like SONY say get nicer graphics while still having good frame rate - totally unnecessary but nice to have. At least I hope it will be what future will hold. BTW. Before you or anyone says that frame rate doesn't matter: it matters a lot. PS3 and PS4 generation was absolutely atrocious with its 30fps games and not only it was much less fun to play these games but also slow frame rate and input lag it caused forced games to be more... static. Like in each and every FPS shooter didn't have you maneuvering across the map shooting enemies but hiding behind chest high walls and waiting for enemy to pop up from behind cover and they had to do it in predictable manner because if you had to re-aim you would struggle to do so with lags incurred by running games v-synced to 30fps. Then take 60fps game and it could be much more dynamic and fun. It all goes to game design - you have more limitations when designing game for 30fps because of much higher input latency and frankly terrible motion visibility. Of course there are people who claim to prefer 30fps because cinematic bla bla bla. Let me say it this way: if game is designed for 60fps and can run 60fps but then on normal PS5 in quality mode runs 30fps then people who like this torture are well free to save few bucks on PS5 Pro :)

Yeah it's funny because earlier into the current console gen people were deriding Microsoft for leaning too much on backwards compatibility. Now that's what Sony are doing too. Most of what's good on the PS5 is the entire PS4 library, running slightly better. That shows off how strong the PS4 was, and how weak the PS5 is because it doesn't have a library of it's own, really.

Watching gaming as a whole fall from grace is really sucking lately. This generation is hot garbage. I play my PS5 so seldomly now and my PS3 became my main again. Thankfully I don't jump on everything with online multiplayer so its an easy transition

How many years has PS5 been out? I asked the other week at GameStop if they had PS5's. They said yea it's $499. I was like what??? That's how much it cost when it 1st came out! It's still $500 this many years later??? On top of that for the PS5 they just remake games that came out for PS4 but with better graphics. Remakes. I just bought a used PS4 Pro instead and I'm happy with it. $500 for a PS5 and $700 for a PS5 Pro??? Shit you can keep it!

The inflation argument is stupid. The more important thing is that wages haven't kept up with inflation so most people's purchasing power is less. With that in mind, the PS5 Pro is actually less affordable than the $599 PS3.
Atleast i get to transfer and syncronizing my Genshin Impact data from windows 7 pc to Ps5 so i dont have to worry about loosing all of my file or my pc stop working in the future.
I had the base PS4 so I"m treating my ps5 as a ps4 pro pro, which is working out well though it was quite expensive (especially where I live outside US). I'm really enjoying astro bot right now, probably the best game I played in years. and I loved the new ratchet & clank as well. Spiderman 2 was ok, fun but disappointing. So overall it was an ok purchase for me. I would be disappointed if GTA6 will not run well on the base PS5 because they're trying to push this pro system, while we didn't get almost any games for the base PS5.

It's being pegged as the saviour of this generation because it's been so bad (and Rockstar have been milking GTA V for 11 years now), but my gut feeling says it's still not going to have as good a story as _Red Dead Redemption II_ which discussed a lot of mature themes, and mostly did it well. Can't see it measuring up to the levels of _GTA IV_ story either.
Wouldn't it be ironic if there was a PS5 Pro enhanced version of Silent Hill 2. That way, you could spend close to a grand in order to play an enhanced edition of a remake of a PS2 game. Something expensively poetic about that notion.
Ps5 Pro was a disaster at annoucement, we got promised this amazing machine , now we have a upgrade to 2tb internal storage and the big 3 as sony call them. To top it off no disc drive its a extra with a inflated price of the pro. For something that had little to no real improvment over the PS5 i already have. All this did was give the scalpers the opportunity to buy up every ps5 disc drive and stand to resell at lauch of the Ps5 pro to make a killing. I as a content creator will not be supporting this inflated price hike of the Ps5 pro that falls short of what we have been prominsed over the 1st leak of this catastrophe of a console.
The big 3: - no disc drive - no backwards compatibility - overpriced For the ridiculous price you would at least expect the better dualsense edge controller and a new more visually appealing design. Not to mention, no new games were shown with it.
You broke. Why are all you complaining? What did you expect. In 2020 the ps5 was 500$ and a 2 tb Ssd back then was 400$ and 300$ on sale. So 800 back then. Ps5 is still 500. So your paying 100$ extra for the 2tb ssd and 100$ extra for more power. Besides the disk drive whats the problem. If they released at 599 with a 1tb drive you would all complain about that.
Yeah this sucks, I’m willing to buy a pro as a very casual gamer and I literally don’t have any safe room to have the ps5 horizontal. Plus I have all physical games. I guarantee both the drive and stand are going to stay sold out because of scalpers
id rather tear the ligament again instead of buying a ps5 pro and let me say its very painful. what makes me sad though is crash team racing and spyro and red dead redemption 2 will never get 60FPS. thats practically alls they need to be good (well personally i feel crash team racing nitro fuel could use better textures and visuals on the racer models and lighting effects but the rest are good just up res the tracks.
When Xbone screwed up their launch Sony smartly pointed out it wasn't all the bad things Microsoft was doing. And the PlayStation brand got a boost. Now it's acting like Microsoft did. I still have no compelling reason to buy a PS5. Let alone a PS5 pro. What does the pro even mean. Am I expected to earn money of it?
It was great growing up with the ps 2 and xbox the excitement going into the next gen was great. the actual new technology that was being put into game console was amazing an made you really excited. You really had to have been there. Now we really came a long way in computer graphics that its not as existing. Game consoles need to focus on exciting games now.
I totally agree with everything that has been said in this video. PS5 Pro is an absolute mockery, despite having some great and big SSD in it and offering couple improvements overall. No disc drive (absolute shame,) no stand (this can be totally avoided), just couple games offering some small improvements only if you zoom in on the details. For 699 + taxes? No thank you. Good old PS3-PS4 era. Plenty of games with great graphics. Sacrificing the amount of games of high quality for some insignificant graphical improvements and much lower number of some good titles worth of buying, that is just ridiculous. Today, sadly, games are mainly about impressive graphics, studios focusing on every damn pixel, which doesn't matter at all. Paying much more today for something that looks great but the content sucks, whether it is boring stupid or short, over something that might look a bit outdated but it is still fun to play for countless of unslept hours, is just insane. Never in the history of gaming industry has ever happened that you'd need to buy a bloody disc drive in order to be able to play your favorite titles or watch a movie on DVD or BR for 80$ + taxes. Sony has just turned into a garbage/greedy company that couldn't care less about PS players. It is exactly like with stupid Apple and their damn iPhones, although I am a happy owner of renewed iPhone 13 Pro Max, after their terrible overheating piece of crap called X, but that is the only product I have. The rest of Apple products are meaningless for my personal usage. In other words, Apple isn't any special company for me. Back to Sony's biggest embarrassment in history of their functioning - I happily own PS3 Slim, so much to play on it. On this system you can still say that "play has no limits". PS5 would be my preference, should I choose a newer PS console. 1. Do people not realize the verical stand is pointless cause you can sit the ps5 without a stand. 2. Unfortunately physical games are coming with no disc and instead a download code for the game, you gotta install the game anyway when inserting a disc and these games got these online requirements to play it. 3. Am.not tripping on the price cause i knew it was going to be more then the base ps5 and i WASNT going to buy it anyway. Copped a decent new gaming laptop for less Then the ps5 pro price. Its all fucked up and anti consumer compared to the 7th gen of consoles and older generations.

I've gone back to playing ps4 games again, the library for PS5 is essentially ported ps4 or remastered ps3 games anyway. If a game sells on the ps5 that doesn't utilize the haptics or adaptive triggers I'm content with playing on the ps4. Sadly I sold my 500 Million PS4 pro when I bought the ps5 so I've gotten a slim instead now

All they had to do was what they did in ps4 gen: release the pro at current price and drop the price of base model. 4 damn years no price drop for a system with like 5 worthwhile games that aren’t cross gen. The price of the PS5 Pro is excessive but so is the price of GPU's for PC gaming. You would be hard pushed to spec a gaming PC to the specs of a PS5 Pro for the same money. By the time you add a CPU, MB, PSU, GPU, Nvme SSD, Ram, Case and a controller you are already above $700 for new components. Second hand parts will be closer to the PS5 Pro but with no warranty. I suppose with a PC you can always upgrade later on and the PS5 Pro cannot but that is the price of console gaming. Americans should think themselves lucky as here in the UK it will cost us the equivalent of $920 USD! I will be passing on the PS5 Pro for now as i am happy enough with the PS5 Slim i already have. I don't need to have super duper graphics to enjoy the games i own and tbh i play on my older consoles (PS2,PS3, Sega Dreamcast, ect) more than the PS5. It is not all about the graphics for me, i am more interested in how a game plays and feels than how it looks nowadays.

Even the ps5 pro suffers from stuttering from the looks of things. At this price point you might as well get a pc. On the console front, the switch 2 has a wide open goal here, assuming it is powerful enough to be good enough to enjoy for most people (and much more affordable). Nintendo even now, so close to the switch 2 announcement, are still knocking out game after game for what is a previous gen console. Where as the other two have expensive powerful consoles on offer but no games to play on them. Id even rate the current switch above the series x or ps5 frankly from a simple fun factor.
Buying a high end pc makes much more sense to me. Playstation 4 was launched many years ago. The price of ps4 (not pro) is now higher than the price when it was launched. Xbox has lost console war. Now Sony can ask whatever it wants because the competition is dead.
It's probably good for emulation at least once it's hacked and reworked but for that price no thanks I remember when the PS3 came out had so many different models and prices were nutty then.
Not defending sony (quit consoles and moved to PC) but I can understan why they put that price, if it was the same as the normal ps5 it will devaluate it, and the normal ps5 still being a modern product on production, it would make sony loss a lot of mony. They should have waited to 2024 to release this as the normal ps5. Nobody was asking for a ps5 in 2020.

I have a backlog of 37 game i really want to play on ps3/ps4... thatll keep me busy for the next 5-10 years. I also have a list of about 25 games i would love to replay in the near future... why would i get a ps5. They havent given me a single good reason.

It’s not a tragedy. Most PS5 owners will stick with their original PS5. Got to understand that Sony have cornered the market so can charge what they want with this Pro version. Only the aficionados will buy this - probably selling off their PS5 to offset the cost.
there's nothing special about iPhone. but the reason apple computers are so good (not for gaming) is the user interface and quality of the hardware. so elegant, seamlessly designed and intuitive to use. they also have the best music and video editing software that are industry standard if you do those things professionally. lastly, they are quality machines that are built to last. in my 18 years of owning a computer - I've had only 3 of them. all MacBooks. and I just got the 3rd one last year. unlike some crappy hp or dell laptop that will crap out in 2-3 years.
In my opinion I don’t own a ps5 and I haven’t at all since its been released so I think it’ll be a grab for me knowing that I personally don’t use disc for games or movies and etc that’s just how I adapted into consoles for a long time. And for ps4 games I just simply use my ps4 to play them, and another thing I would only have to pay around 500 something some change because I’m gonna trade in all my controllers and my switch OLED that I don’t use anymore because it’s kind of boring when I’m on it and Nintendo has been quiet with the Switch 2 launch so I’ll think I’ll just trade it back at GameStop and wait for the Switch 2 to come out to play Nintendo games but that’s besides the fact, for me I’m gonna trade in the Switch OLED and the ps4 and Xbox games controllers that I don’t use cause of stick drift, I would get back 200$+ in store credit so realistically I would only have to spend around 500 and some change for the ps5 pro so that’s why it’s a guaranteed grab for me in my opinion knowing that I don’t don’t own one currently.
If i didnt already have a new ps5 i would have considered getting the pro but deffo wont be now, i’ll probably use my ps5 until 2030 atleast as i really dont need games to look any better, and if some games dont look good i simply wont buy and thats all you have to do, if ps6 doesnt come with a disc or daft price i will stay on that for even longer
I skipped ps3, and ps4, but bought a ps4 pro so I could play dead or alive 6. Likewise, I bought a ps5 (2 years in) so I could play Hogwarts Legacy. I don't yet know if there will be a game I want so bad it compels me to buy the ps5 pro.

Yeah I did this a year ago, CECHA00 Japanese full BC PS3 bundle with games and things for £180. Cleaned and repasted it myself. Runs great. Way better value than a PS5 as it has such a strong library.

I’m a lifetime PlayStation player but I can happily admit Sony has lost touch with their consumer base.
They were on top of the industry for close to 10 years I’d argue but recently they’ve been faltering. This generation has been an absolute disappointment.
This Pro release is a half measure upgrade that costs the same as what I’d imagine the PS6 to cost. Idk wtf they’re thinking but no one is paying that price for essentially the same machine with no idea of the future line up of games.
That’s another huge problem with this console and Sony’s entire business model this generation. Us the consumers have no idea what we even bought the PS5 for. There is no word at all on what is being worked on by Sony’s in house studios. Nothing to look forward to and say “this is why I have or am buying a PS5.” It’s absolutely ridiculous and their pursuit of a live service juggernaut like Fortnite is just about the dumbest shit they could try to do this generation and now they’re paying for it.
Good thing I’m able to go back and enjoy older games because besides remakes there’s nothing much that excites me this generation.
About $700 also older game titles cause around millions of dollars sealed compare of buying a used copy that doesnt work anymore.

Got a launch PS5 and all I’ve played on it is cross gen PS4 games and maybe TLOU remake as the only exclusive. Waiting on the physical release of Alan Wake 2 and the MGS3 remake but honestly I’m just not enthusiastic about gaming as I was maybe 10 years ago. The industry has just become stale and expensive. Everyone chasing the easy live service money. I’m not even that exited about GTA 6 because I know that’s going to be all about the online and the single player will be a secondary thought.

The PS5 Pro is twice the cost of the PS4 Pro, to put it into perspective, and the PS4 Pro had a disc drive. The games didn't usually look much better on the previous gen Pro either but it would get you 4K display output on a 4K TV at least. Back then we moaned about the lack of a 4K Blu-ray drive but it was easier to overlook when it launched at the same price as the original PS4, and the original PS4 then received a price cut. The PS3 Slim launched at a much lower price than the original so it was even better value. Both the PS3 and PS4 at this point in their lives had so many great games too, not just rereleases.
It just feels like Sony seeing what they can get away with. They ask more and more for less and less. This is a barren, nothing generation. Not even one new game to launch alongside the PS5 Pro, the Cerny video literally showed Demon's Souls again, the launch title for the original PS5 which is itself a remake of a PS3 era game. I think that sums it up - prices increase, fewer and fewer games. Including PS Plus, and the free monthly games seem to be cheaper and cheaper ones even though that too has had a price rise.

Playstation needs to move the HQ back to Tokyo, where the rest of Sony is. Nissan did this same sillyness with their Infiniti unit moving to Hong Kong, before backtracking and going back to Yokohama. All the weird decisions at Playstation begun when they moved the HQ in 2016 to Foster City.

2. Release game that is not completed game, ( Seasonal downloads, with upgrades needed without top tier bundle release paid prior to release date).
3. Release game early for a fee.
4. Make micro transactions, not just skins but UPGRADES, that only the top whales can afford to stay relevant.
5. Then release DLC maps for a fee, for either OLD REMASTERED maps, or several recycled dead maps that are morphed together to create profit.
Until you stop opening your wallet, you will keep getting this garbage. Especially now that SONY has very limited competition for top tier games.

At that time it was the GTA 5 edition bundled with another game (Watch Dogs 1) and it was even on sale and its price was around €349 or $477 in 2014, if I'm not mistaken. I've been playing on PC since the PS5 came out and I'm insanely happy with my choice as I don't need to pay for subscriptions to play online, for example. I occasionally still play on my PS4 but singleplayer only games.

The problem is that companies tell they know what players want. But the opposite is the case. Cerny himself said that 3/4 of the players play in performance mode. That's because players care more about performance than graphics. The industry needs to stop focusing on graphics and concentrate more on the actual game. Look at Astro Bot. Game of the Year! It's all about the art style and performance. Astro Bot is beautiful and runs smoothly, but not because it has ultra-realistic graphics with thousands of details, but because it has an art style that looks good and still lets the game run smoothly on existing hardware. Nobody needs a PS5 Pro. The industry needs to wake up and focus more on creativity, ingenuity and enthusiasm instead of looks. 4K and RT are nice but they're just gimmicks to sell hardware. In the end, these features don't make a game better.
I agree but we all know how it went with X360/PS3 and then how it was on PS4/XO - games with molasses 30fps just to look nice on screenshots and get points in reviews for having some graphical effects and whatnot. SONY made a right call to bring this point of "Quality quality and Performance performance" and that 3/4 gamers prefer at least 60fps (note: performance also means 120fps in some games!) because that sets the stage for PS5 Pro optimized games to at least not drop to 30fps. Also if game devs or general public didn't know these statistics they now know. Of course it would be for the best for game developers to take notice in the way they always aim to make PS5 games have performance mode at 60fps despite loss of graphical fidelity. Then PS5 Pro will be there to like SONY say get nicer graphics while still having good frame rate - totally unnecessary but nice to have. At least I hope it will be what future will hold.
BTW. Before you or anyone says that frame rate doesn't matter: it matters a lot. PS3 and PS4 generation was absolutely atrocious with its 30fps games and not only it was much less fun to play these games but also slow frame rate and input lag it caused forced games to be more... static. Like in each and every FPS shooter didn't have you maneuvering across the map shooting enemies but hiding behind chest high walls and waiting for enemy to pop up from behind cover and they had to do it in predictable manner because if you had to re-aim you would struggle to do so with lags incurred by running games v-synced to 30fps. Then take 60fps game and it could be much more dynamic and fun. It all goes to game design - you have more limitations when designing game for 30fps because of much higher input latency and frankly terrible motion visibility.
Of course there are people who claim to prefer 30fps because cinematic bla bla bla. Let me say it this way: if game is designed for 60fps and can run 60fps but then on normal PS5 in quality mode runs 30fps then people who like this torture are well free to save few bucks on PS5 Pro :)

Yeah it's funny because earlier into the current console gen people were deriding Microsoft for leaning too much on backwards compatibility. Now that's what Sony are doing too. Most of what's good on the PS5 is the entire PS4 library, running slightly better. That shows off how strong the PS4 was, and how weak the PS5 is because it doesn't have a library of it's own, really.

Atleast i get to transfer and syncronizing my Genshin Impact data from windows 7 pc to Ps5 so i dont have to worry about loosing all of my file or my pc stop working in the future.
I had the base PS4 so I"m treating my ps5 as a ps4 pro pro, which is working out well though it was quite expensive (especially where I live outside US). I'm really enjoying astro bot right now, probably the best game I played in years. and I loved the new ratchet & clank as well. Spiderman 2 was ok, fun but disappointing. So overall it was an ok purchase for me. I would be disappointed if GTA6 will not run well on the base PS5 because they're trying to push this pro system, while we didn't get almost any games for the base PS5.

It's being pegged as the saviour of this generation because it's been so bad (and Rockstar have been milking GTA V for 11 years now), but my gut feeling says it's still not going to have as good a story as _Red Dead Redemption II_ which discussed a lot of mature themes, and mostly did it well. Can't see it measuring up to the levels of _GTA IV_ story either.
Wouldn't it be ironic if there was a PS5 Pro enhanced version of Silent Hill 2. That way, you could spend close to a grand in order to play an enhanced edition of a remake of a PS2 game. Something expensively poetic about that notion.

Ps5 Pro was a disaster at annoucement, we got promised this amazing machine , now we have a upgrade to 2tb internal storage and the big 3 as sony call them.
To top it off no disc drive its a extra with a inflated price of the pro. For something that had little to no real improvment over the PS5 i already have.
All this did was give the scalpers the opportunity to buy up every ps5 disc drive and stand to resell at lauch of the Ps5 pro to make a killing.
I as a content creator will not be supporting this inflated price hike of the Ps5 pro that falls short of what we have been prominsed over the 1st leak of this catastrophe of a console.

So your paying 100$ extra for the 2tb ssd and 100$ extra for more power. Besides the disk drive whats the problem. If they released at 599 with a 1tb drive you would all complain about that.

It was great growing up with the ps 2 and xbox the excitement going into the next gen was great. the actual new technology that was being put into game console was amazing an made you really excited. You really had to have been there. Now we really came a long way in computer graphics that its not as existing. Game consoles need to focus on exciting games now.

I totally agree with everything that has been said in this video. PS5 Pro is an absolute mockery, despite having some great and big SSD in it and offering couple improvements overall.
No disc drive (absolute shame,) no stand (this can be totally avoided), just couple games offering some small improvements only if you zoom in on the details. For 699 + taxes? No thank you.
Good old PS3-PS4 era. Plenty of games with great graphics. Sacrificing the amount of games of high quality for some insignificant graphical improvements and much lower number of some good titles worth of buying, that is just ridiculous.
Today, sadly, games are mainly about impressive graphics, studios focusing on every damn pixel, which doesn't matter at all. Paying much more today for something that looks great but the content sucks, whether it is boring stupid or short, over something that might look a bit outdated but it is still fun to play for countless of unslept hours, is just insane.
Never in the history of gaming industry has ever happened that you'd need to buy a bloody disc drive in order to be able to play your favorite titles or watch a movie on DVD or BR for 80$ + taxes.
Sony has just turned into a garbage/greedy company that couldn't care less about PS players.
It is exactly like with stupid Apple and their damn iPhones, although I am a happy owner of renewed iPhone 13 Pro Max, after their terrible overheating piece of crap called X, but that is the only product I have. The rest of Apple products are meaningless for my personal usage. In other words, Apple isn't any special company for me.
Back to Sony's biggest embarrassment in history of their functioning - I happily own PS3 Slim, so much to play on it. On this system you can still say that "play has no limits". PS5 would be my preference, should I choose a newer PS console.
Personally I am enjoying every video criticizing PS5 Pro, coz in this era of scamming people, in any way, you just need to laugh at stupidity of big greedy companies believing that they can getaway with anything they come up to the public with.

1. Do people not realize the verical stand is pointless cause you can sit the ps5 without a stand.
2. Unfortunately physical games are coming with no disc and instead a download code for the game, you gotta install the game anyway when inserting a disc and these games got these online requirements to play it.
3. Am.not tripping on the price cause i knew it was going to be more then the base ps5 and i WASNT going to buy it anyway. Copped a decent new gaming laptop for less Then the ps5 pro price.
Its all fucked up and anti consumer compared to the 7th gen of consoles and older generations.

I've gone back to playing ps4 games again, the library for PS5 is essentially ported ps4 or remastered ps3 games anyway. If a game sells on the ps5 that doesn't utilize the haptics or adaptive triggers I'm content with playing on the ps4. Sadly I sold my 500 Million PS4 pro when I bought the ps5 so I've gotten a slim instead now

All they had to do was what they did in ps4 gen: release the pro at current price and drop the price of base model. 4 damn years no price drop for a system with like 5 worthwhile games that aren’t cross gen. The price of the PS5 Pro is excessive but so is the price of GPU's for PC gaming.
You would be hard pushed to spec a gaming PC to the specs of a PS5 Pro for the same money.
By the time you add a CPU, MB, PSU, GPU, Nvme SSD, Ram, Case and a controller you are already above $700 for new components. Second hand parts will be closer to the PS5 Pro but with no warranty.
I suppose with a PC you can always upgrade later on and the PS5 Pro cannot but that is the price of console gaming.
Americans should think themselves lucky as here in the UK it will cost us the equivalent of $920 USD!
I will be passing on the PS5 Pro for now as i am happy enough with the PS5 Slim i already have. I don't need to have super duper graphics to enjoy the games i own and tbh i play on my older consoles (PS2,PS3, Sega Dreamcast, ect) more than the PS5. It is not all about the graphics for me, i am more interested in how a game plays and feels than how it looks nowadays.

Even the ps5 pro suffers from stuttering from the looks of things. At this price point you might as well get a pc. On the console front, the switch 2 has a wide open goal here, assuming it is powerful enough to be good enough to enjoy for most people (and much more affordable). Nintendo even now, so close to the switch 2 announcement, are still knocking out game after game for what is a previous gen console. Where as the other two have expensive powerful consoles on offer but no games to play on them. Id even rate the current switch above the series x or ps5 frankly from a simple fun factor.
Buying a high end pc makes much more sense to me. Playstation 4 was launched many years ago. The price of ps4 (not pro) is now higher than the price when it was launched. Xbox has lost console war. Now Sony can ask whatever it wants because the competition is dead.
It's probably good for emulation at least once it's hacked and reworked but for that price no thanks I remember when the PS3 came out had so many different models and prices were nutty then.
Also the PS3 did not come with an HDMI cable. It only came with standard def composite.

Not defending sony (quit consoles and moved to PC) but I can understan why they put that price, if it was the same as the normal ps5 it will devaluate it, and the normal ps5 still being a modern product on production, it would make sony loss a lot of mony.
They should have waited to 2024 to release this as the normal ps5. Nobody was asking for a ps5 in 2020.

I have a backlog of 37 game i really want to play on ps3/ps4... thatll keep me busy for the next 5-10 years. I also have a list of about 25 games i would love to replay in the near future... why would i get a ps5. They havent given me a single good reason.

there's nothing special about iPhone. but the reason apple computers are so good (not for gaming) is the user interface and quality of the hardware. so elegant, seamlessly designed and intuitive to use. they also have the best music and video editing software that are industry standard if you do those things professionally. lastly, they are quality machines that are built to last. in my 18 years of owning a computer - I've had only 3 of them. all MacBooks. and I just got the 3rd one last year. unlike some crappy hp or dell laptop that will crap out in 2-3 years.
In my opinion I don’t own a ps5 and I haven’t at all since its been released so I think it’ll be a grab for me knowing that I personally don’t use disc for games or movies and etc that’s just how I adapted into consoles for a long time. And for ps4 games I just simply use my ps4 to play them, and another thing I would only have to pay around 500 something some change because I’m gonna trade in all my controllers and my switch OLED that I don’t use anymore because it’s kind of boring when I’m on it and Nintendo has been quiet with the Switch 2 launch so I’ll think I’ll just trade it back at GameStop and wait for the Switch 2 to come out to play Nintendo games but that’s besides the fact, for me I’m gonna trade in the Switch OLED and the ps4 and Xbox games controllers that I don’t use cause of stick drift, I would get back 200$+ in store credit so realistically I would only have to spend around 500 and some change for the ps5 pro so that’s why it’s a guaranteed grab for me in my opinion knowing that I don’t don’t own one currently.
If i didnt already have a new ps5 i would have considered getting the pro but deffo wont be now, i’ll probably use my ps5 until 2030 atleast as i really dont need games to look any better, and if some games dont look good i simply wont buy and thats all you have to do, if ps6 doesnt come with a disc or daft price i will stay on that for even longer

I skipped ps3, and ps4, but bought a ps4 pro so I could play dead or alive 6. Likewise, I bought a ps5 (2 years in) so I could play Hogwarts Legacy. I don't yet know if there will be a game I want so bad it compels me to buy the ps5 pro.
It’s not worth it, I like PlayStation 3 the best. Great graphics, great games. Plus it’s all very affordable.
