Tbh a big point of The Sopranos is that omertà is bullshit and they’re all rats who would flip if you threatened a week and a half in minimum security. I’m not saying you necessarily disagree (or agree) but I think it’s an interesting take presented by the show, as well as many classic mob movies like Goodfellas (yet dumbasses will still watch this media and talk about “at least men were men and they had a code”)
@@sams7068 exactly, other then the Godfather (somewhat), they criticize the morals of a immoral business. Scarface, Goodfellas, Casino, etc. They all tell a story of money being king, not code. When drugs came into the mafia, it was the start of the end.

Maureen O Hara a famous actress from ireland gave an interview in the 1930s calling out the casting couch mentality of hollywood and had her career ruined because she would not be used.

I'd disagree. Both Steve and Michael have very different personalities than the characters they played. Christopher was wild and dumb, Michael is chill and smart. Bobby was quiet and timid, while Steve is bold and outspoken. Gandolfini is known for being shy while Tony was not in any way.

I worked in the film industry for 15 years. It's like a cult, the ever present threat that you'll never work again if you step out of line. It taught me about how many people will ignore bad things happening to others if they feel scared that they will lose their position. There are endless stories within showbiz that never get out.
It’s not just the film industry, it’s all industries in all countries to a greater or lesser degree. Even yet victims are subjected to atrocious behavior when they break silence. 🌲🌝☘️
I was injured in a set, due to negligence of union workers. My lawyers wanted me to sue. You can't, for any reason, or you really WILL never work again. I should have , since I hated making movies and went back to real theater, where there are far fewer problems and less sitting around. And no real Harvey Weinsteins, at least not with that kind of power
I lived in Hollywood for about 5 years. The Weinstien story is a complete template of how disgusting the power people were even years ago when I was there. I was so happy to leave and never looked back. It's an evil, evil place.
What do you mean you "lived in Hollywood"? When people say Hollywood they're talking about the film industry, not the city. There's only one studio in Hollywood anyway, Paramount. You can't just live in the city of Los Angeles/Hollywood and know the inner workings of the film industry. Most people that live in Hollywood are poor anyway. They're not connected. The people that live in Hollywood don't know anymore than someone that lives in Wisconsin. They hear it from the same TMZ broadcast everyone else does. I lived all over LA for 25 years and directly worked in the industry for 10. Even then I didn't know much more than anyone else. Unless you're at the top and you're part of the inner circle. Living in Hollywood or even working in the industry doesn't mean you have inside knowledge of anything, especially after living there for only 5 years.

Blindi he extorted them. Harvey was one of the most powerful people in show business and he would blackmail women into having sex with him. If they said yes they would get roles and jobs and their dreams would come true. If they didn’t, Harvey, as one of the most powerful men in the industry, would blacklist them and use his connections to make sure they wouldn’t get any roles or jobs ever again
If the Oscars had any dignity left then actor Jason Priestley would be the proud recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for punching Harvey Weinstein in the face.
MovieMaker2100 I mean...Brad, as far as my knowledge, didn’t actually know all the details of the whole situation. He learned that Harvey sexually harassed Brad’s partner at the time, Gwyneth Paltrow in a hotel room in the mid-90s. Brad threatened to kill Weinstein, according to Brad, instinctively. He said that he “just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein].” So, Brad’s knowledge was pretty much that he knew that Harvey sexually harassed Brad’s partner at the time, Paltrow, and that he put a stop to it then and there. Apparently, Harvey apologised for it, probably because he was pretty damn scared because somebody actually confronted and threatened him. So...I don’t think Brad knew the full extent of Weinstein’s crimes and actions. From what I’ve read, QT & Pitt had both been wanting to work with each other for many years but they were waiting for the right project and half way through the writing process, QT sensed that Pitt was perfect for the role, which, as we all now know, he sensed right. Anyway, that’s pretty much what I think the story is, I hope this might clear it up for you.

I love this. Joes a legit badass. These guys are some of the best mob actors in history and they’re definition of rat here are the people who stayed silent. Bravo!
Lol interesting right
Tbh a big point of The Sopranos is that omertà is bullshit and they’re all rats who would flip if you threatened a week and a half in minimum security.
@@sams7068
Omertà wasn’t bullshit when it involved Sicilian peasants in the 1800s who had more balls than brains and an idea of honour/pride greater than their sense. The culture and mindset became diluted over time with urbanisation, less religion, less clan structure, etc. It’s a similar situation with the Maniots in Greece, for example. Those guys were the real deal back then.
The beauty of this is you feel like your hanging out with Christopher and Bobby thier character is so true to their actual personality, give me warm and fuzzy nostalgia because if you've watched the entire sopranos you feel like their family

Suggesting Christian Bale do the role of Weinstein might be the funniest thing I heard this week.
Great panel and discussion. Imagine being in a bar with these 3 guys in conversation
These Soprano actors never had to go into character whenever filming.
Michael is completely different at least. His voice is different and of course his personality. Steve is closer to his character but on the show he was definitely more reserved.
Are you implying Michael Imperioli beats the shit out of his wife
That’s when you kno the casting director is great at their job.
Well they never had the makings of varsity athletes.
🌲🌝☘️
That's how the control the entire country... most of the system works this way.
Same with my experience in the music industry, though I have to admit that filmmakers always gave us a weird vibe.
The normal celebs I've noticed aren't political and just do their work in peace.
It’s funny seeing this after watching Steven Rinella’s first episode on JRE when he mentions the rumours about Harvey like 9 years ago (episode 442)
Thank you guys. Complete respect.
I lived in Hollywood for about 5 years. The Weinstien story is a complete template of how disgusting the power people were even years ago when I was there. I was so happy to leave and never looked back. It's an evil, evil place.
Did you ever go to auditions where he was in charge of that project?
@@qwesence1 yeah. All he wanted to do was take a shower. Fiiiive minutes!

The Lesser Key Of Solomon Sure did!
Wait, how did Michael age?
Brad Pitt seems to be one of the few who punked him and still had a stellar career
Brad Pitt still took that Inglorious Basterds money knowing first hand what kind of person Weinstein is.
Brad has talent, Jason is just a himbo from Canada
He already had a huge career. If Brad Pitt was starting out it probably would have been different.
He said that he “just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein].”
So, Brad’s knowledge was pretty much that he knew that Harvey sexually harassed Brad’s partner at the time, Paltrow, and that he put a stop to it then and there.
