I remember watching this movie as a kid growing up, (born 2004) because my sister was born in the 90s and loved showing me movies from her time in which I honestly wished that I could’ve been born in. Watching a movie that somewhat describes how my family is and lives their lives brings me to tears because I hardly ever see good Latin/Hispanic culture films that show how much value we have as people.♥️
People do not worship the Virgin. They venerate her. There is a huge difference! Anyone saying they worship Mary probobly never went to church or had ignorant teaching.
What a great story. We Anglos could learn much from the the what ever the politically correct term is for Americans of Mexican decent . this a wonderful story
Hey Im a spiritual person and a Christian. Chucho was really supposed to die there, but since he survived, that's why his life was the way it is and he ended up in his fate with the cops. It was that time he had to go where the spirit of the River had to claim what was rightfully his. I watched the movie over and over again to understand this.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG WHEN MARIA FINALLY GETS HOME WITH HER SON AND THE DAD SEES HER. ITS LIKE A DIALECT LANGUAGE SONG. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF IT?
bravo you know ur history, las mission poderosa, La religon fue echa para domiar los Nativos. Por yo del lo que hablo is thoeria. Nuestra historia y por que se no iso facil adoptar la madre blanca.
I remember watching this film when it first came out, I was eight years old. Watching it again since that one time. Unfortunately I didn't remember J-Lo in it but I ruined the film.
Its a shame all these latinamerican families lost their pride. Nobody seems to keep the pride anymore. All that commercial has turned us into something bad. But the sad part is the ones who forget how it was feel latino.
@SuniDays87 the original migration to the Americas were by people of more Asian decent who traveled over the bering strait in the ice age hunting the last of the wooly mammoth. These original indigenous people have settled all over the americas, From alaska to argentina. Spain has occupied most of the americas since the 1400's.
Funny how there's a whole conversation around the names Maria and Jose. My dad first name is Jose and my mom is Maria. The funny thing is that my wife's mom name is Maria and she has a brother name Jose. And her mom made it a habit to start all the girls names with Maria, so in her family 4 out of 5 girls first name Maria, hahahahahahahahah the only way to tell them apart is be the second name..........
The virgin Mary is the mother we lost, in history (la Malinche) (la llorana) the lady who sold her kids to slavery the Native lady who betrayed a whole nation of her kind for a white man.
@wcab07 the song at 3:32 its called Rosa de Castilla By Los Folkloristas but what i know its a Pirekua or aka purépecha landuage and yes i speak tthat landuage and like half of the problem its an old traditional song so its harder to but yea you me thiar for a sec jajajaja
You can tell that esai morales is puerto rican when he speaks spanish in a borderline homosexual manner. A real Pachuco would try to sound as manly as possible.
Im hispanic but i dont really know why its bad luck to see a lechusa blanca in the daylight? my aunt said the way the owl can flee away from you is by puting a miorror and a pair of scissors by your window is that true!
Chucho and Jimmy's relationship 😭 its devastating what it did to jimmy

People do not worship the Virgin. They venerate her. There is a huge difference! Anyone saying they worship Mary probobly never went to church or had ignorant teaching.

"I find my ironing sessions rather soothing."
The wedding scene in this movie makes me think of The Godfather. Proud father, strong family ties, and a loving mother.
