this movie makes you remember where you came from, makes me appreciate my mother and father more, coming from guerrero, mexico, to give me a better life like chucho, i'll never take that for granted, mi familia siempre estara ayi por mi
This is one of my favorite movies ever!! Originally I went to see it because Michael DeLorenzo (from the tv show "New York Undercover"...the object of my lust at that time ;P) had a small role in it. But once I got into it I did not want it to end. I'm African-American but there are some characters in this film that could be members of my family! I think that's the appeal...no matter your background-Latino, African, Asian, whatever-you can find something you can identify with. Gregory Nava rocks
Las primeras escenas las tomaron en mi lindo Ocumicho Michoacán Mexico ❤️ amo esta pelicula desde que lo vi en el 1997 por casualidad me la recomendo la senorita de la libraria solo tenia 11añitos pero me encanto
I think this movie speaks to many of us that have parents that migrated from Mexico, looking for a better life and the struggles they had to face when arriving in the US. Especially in LA when Mexicans were not treated fairly.
I love this movie, it's so realistic, I've heard so many stories like the one thats portray that's all we have is our (Mexican-americans) stories told by our Familia... Peace and love!
ahhhh, i feel soo good here in this place watching this. However, la vida de mi familia was not really exactly like the one this family led in East L.A.
Diz ese good movie i see how hard ppl were living in mexico and how they suffer to get to diz side to make a better life for themselves and family... viva la gente hispana para luchar por lo q quieren its shows whites and african mericans dat they work hard
Me encanta esta pelicula!!! En Canada no hay una fuerte representation de los Mexicanos pero en unos 50 anos eso cambiara. Quisas sera el tiempo de hacer otra pelicula como esta pero en el contexto canadiense.
wow this reminds me of my grandma n grandpa they never learned how to read or write...they lived isolated from cities ..they didnt have electricity..houses were a mile apart and they planted their own vegetables...my mom says once they moved to a little town that had electricity etc.. thats why when the guy says "whats another country" its because most ppl didnt go to school because there werent alot and small towns took longer to develop!
@luperwee the natives were call mixtecas, which means land between two bodies of water, the spanish called them mextecas or the aztecs! thats the way i heard it!
