I grew up in Florence and Compton in the mid 80s the scene in 0:44 It’s on Soto and Caesar Chavez. This short film is beyond the truth of what happens to lower class families. What a great film! I grew up in East Oakland and saw how the streets attempted to take my older sister from my parents. They almost lost her to gang life and violence. After seeing how easy it was to hang around the wrong people and the possible outcomes, I decided to focus on the opposite of gang life: books, nerdy friends, band class ( I play the viola), alternative rock, and boys lol. I stayed away from any "friends" that would show slight gang-life behavior. We left The Town when I was 17 years old and it was the best decision my parents made for us kids.
If you think about it, Alejandro and Ignacio were friends when they were kids. The scene where Juan is looking at Ignacio’s wallet and was prevented by Ignacio from taking out and looking at a second picture, show’s that Ignacio was hiding a secret. The fact that the second picture was behind the picture where Ignacio is with his younger brother Juan, a picture he cherishes, demonstrates that the second picture holds deep meaning to Ignacio. In my opinion, that picture we never see is a picture of Ignacio and Alejandro back when they were young friends, or “hermanos”. That’s why, at the end Alejandro tell’s Ignacio “we ain’t kids no more”. In my opinion, this short film is not based on Juan and Mateo, but in the hidden tragic story between Alejandro and Ignacio.
Man, good point... 👍🏼, theres a verse in one of Nas’s songs that says “But uhh, a thug changes, and love changes and best friends become strangers, word up” it does happen... I think it’s called the message, good track 👍🏼

Wish they would put this cast into a Netflix exclusive movie or even a series. Very strong acting, very emotional situations. And people are in similar situations all around us all the time. Some worse, some better, but in the end, we’ve all felt that on some level.
So me and my husband saw this play out too many times in our childhood neighborhood..we're not meant to fight other. We need to see the bigger picture and be GREAT BROWN INFLUENCE TO THE YOUNGER ONES
Margaret Mead there’s this little thing in acting and cinema referred to as “alternate endings” or, there’s always the situation of creating a script which leads up to these events, say showing the lives they lived that built up to these events.

Why are people always divided? Divided by race. Divided by religion. Divided by color. Divided by gender. Divided by culture. Divided by teams. Divided by gangs. Divided by army. Divided feminism. Divided by political parties. Divided by economic status. Divided by country. Always dividing us.

This hits home. I grew up in Boyle Heights where this became a reality for many kids. Friends one day, enemies the next, because of familial ties to gangs or (invisible) territorial dividing lines. Impactful short film, well done.

I have recently made some friends in the short film industry here in Shreveport, LA. For that reason, I had a random interest to just type in “short film” in the UA-cam search. Hermanos was the first to pop up, and naturally, I watched. This was amazing from start to finish. You could tell every scene had such meaning behind it. Loved every second of it. Thank you for making this!! Love from 2024 🎉
Willie Magana I agree. But it would of been funny if they went full retard and got a diverse cast. You’d have blacks and whites being like “what’s up ese”
I grew up all over LA. East Los, South LA, Echo Park, long Beach, pretty much all the bad parts of LA. As an adult I am glad I am now out of that city and somewhere else in the country. Although I will never forget the experiences I had in those rough areas.
The ending had me crying. Even gang members were once precious kids and were pure and innocent, only to be corrupted by Satan and what the elites shove in their faces on tv and the internet. Not to mention what they see growing up.
Bitch should have moved thr fuck out of the way before she got her ass and kid smoked standing stuck there. I was like bitch save your kid run for your life

😢🙏😢😞wow this hit home, well done movie this should be in all shown in high schools or juvenile hall, it could open eyes to think about good choices in life.
Aylissa Gallegos no it’s not always like that. It’s maybe where there’s more poverty and parents aren’t around for many reasons-either working both two jobs to sustain the household or single parents coping with survival. This is why we need to educate our children and show them the real path. Leave all materialistic stuff behind and focus in giving them a good education and keep them busy with sports.

Excellent film production. You have the skills to make a full feature. It’s not easy to tell a neighborhood story and keep it legit, and not fake. Keep doing what you do.
Great film. I remember growing up during the 70’s in Stockton Ca, on the south side with my childhood best friends and us thinking we would be friends forever too. Then came the 80’s and gangs and we would be forever torn apart. Many went to jail and others died from the hands of the same people we sat ate dinner with , spent the night at each other’s homes and watched Saturday morning cartoons. What a shame😢
I’m from south stockton also, it’s real fucked up in Stockton. One day everybody is koo playin soccer on the same teams/leagues as kids and years go by and those same teammates are killing each other over hoods and money.
Toto 1 Never used to be like that. I don’t know it the signs are still there that read “Stockton, some place special”. It was once upon a time. Stay up, and God bless.
Same thing happens in Richmond ca,Oakland and Vallejo, it’s the same story everywhere first we played baseball, football, basketball together, then we started claiming neighborhood and blocks and got divided peace to my Mexicans brothas
This film really hit me hard. I grew up in a neighborhood like that and it was so hard for most boys (some girls) to make it out alive. By the time I was 14, I already knew at least 3 teens who had gotten killed by gang violence. It’s amazing how those of us who did not get caught up in all this madness survived.
We played in a soccer team..one of our team members (12 year old) brother (20) was in a gang. Somehow he was in a shootout and another gang member got killed. Family left and moved to another city. 6 months later our friend (12 year old) got killed..stabbed 300 times in broad daylight. Also I lived in front of a HS. Shootings and fights every day after 7th period. Another episode...this one involved a white kid (16 years)- our goalie. He impregnated a 14 year old. He didn't want anything to do with the baby. She went and told everyone in school that he was the father. Knucklehead killed her and cut her to pieces and stuffed her in a suitcase. Middle school. We were walking from school to home and a car approaches us and one of the gang members pulled a shotgun and pointed at us..3 ft away. Another one...black kid beat up this Mexican (real Mexican not Chicano) kid (12 years). Mexican kid comes the next day with a gun and makes that black kid kneel and put the gun in the kids mouth. Late 80s..early 90s. Dallas TX. East Side Locos, AV Boys, Bloods and Crips, PGV..etc..etc... it's like a movie but living it in real time. No this are not lies.
@princess rose#1106 no problem darling if only people knew the guys in the movie are all about positivity nowadays Probz just a dumb kid because I can't see the comment no more lol one love from the uk anyways x
When I was 17 I was hanging out at my best friends house, his name is Leonard Macias. his older brother ‘Woody’ had his homies over, I left to go home, as soon as I walked outside a dude was waiting for me with a 2”x 4” he thought I was messing with his girlfriend. I ran back into the house and everyone said What’s up ‘wedo’ I said a dude outside says he’s gonna kill me, he has a large piece of wood, I never seen him before.... BOOM! they all ran outside and took care of his ass real good. No one fucked with me again... and no, I wasn’t messin with dudes chick. As the years went by some of those dudes were killed, some went to prison, ‘woody’ started using drugs but got clean years later, he got married and has two son’s, lives in Whittier, ca. and works on old cars
TheDrainDude yo... I thought i was the only nigga called Woody. All my brothers hood friends called me woody so i stuck to it and even made it my rapper name. You will see me on the rise, Rbs Woody on it!

MrVillasantos thats reality around here. Your friend can become your enemy.

Wish they would put this cast into a Netflix exclusive movie or even a series. Very strong acting, very emotional situations. And people are in similar situations all around us all the time. Some worse, some better, but in the end, we’ve all felt that on some level.

Funky_bottoms that's deep. I wish their souls rest in piece and i wish you prosperity and blessed years ahead. Respect from muslim Indonesian
Fiki al As-salāmu àlaykum my brother 🤲
Same thing happens in Richmond ca,Oakland and Vallejo, it’s the same story everywhere first we played baseball, football, basketball together, then we started claiming neighborhood and blocks and got divided peace to my Mexicans brothas
This film really hit me hard. I grew up in a neighborhood like that and it was so hard for most boys (some girls) to make it out alive. By the time I was 14, I already knew at least 3 teens who had gotten killed by gang violence.
It’s amazing how those of us who did not get caught up in all this madness survived.
Oh that’s sad we’re u in a Mexican gang area?
Sorry for your loss
I know that's right foo
@gimisum Bitch You don’t know shit why you call him a Liar if you don’t even know this person
With a good budget they can make a great movie

Wow. Awesome low-budget short film is better than LOTS of regular Hollywood films I’ve seen. I only wish it was longer. Thank you.
Exactly films now a days remake movies from decades ago
Get real man!! Stop lying
SamanthaNickole02 guys do you know movies like this if u do please tell me
Most low-budget independent films are superior to Hollywood's endless stream of sewage.
Damnnn... this reminds me of me and my homeboy growing up. We was brothers. Now hes gone. RIP lil Smiley
20:40 notice how both older brothers decided to protect their younger brother instead of taking out their guns.
i actually didn't notice that til you pointed it out lol
thats how it is in the mexican culture family over everyone and thing else
Itachi Uchiha not when it comes to banging
@@b5150b2012 well once they start banging, that is their family. But every real street mexican I know would do the same shit, family first regardless.

Is this real ?
TheLords Can he work on mine?
That’s right you don’t mess with Familia
And everyone started clapping
TheDrainDude yo... I thought i was the only nigga called Woody. All my brothers hood friends called me woody so i stuck to it and even made it my rapper name. You will see me on the rise, Rbs Woody on it!
Now all y'all's just making up story's
I wish you guys drop a movie like this i would love it in netflix
Fuck a movie... a hbo show is better or netflix
KCDJ21 thanks for the support! In the mean time we have a new film “Reflection” coming out on March 1st, 2020.
ua-cam.com/video/Lo_myUzn-UY/v-deo.html
I dont understand why people need it to be on Netflix. Just support it from the artist. They're the ones that made it
Hermanos: “Friends are NEVER your family”
Dominick Torretto: Am I a joke to you?
Megatrons Dad Dom: “I don’t got no friends, I have Family”
He got family, but he ain't got physics.
Md stan NO CAP 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
People who have lived through shit like this or who have family/friends who they've seen go through this shit can truly understand how much pain is in this short film. This lifestyle ain't a joke and only the real can reflect from this.
This film will save kids lives from making choices that lead them down this road, we should show all the people who spent time shooting this a whole lot of respect and support them.
Love vato. 🗣
